I recently got this hazet 8816 f with black handle and round beam seems like and older style that I like better than the newer style that has offset

Not sure of years available and those I have seen especially 1/2 drive go quick and are very strong and durable while having fine tooth

And did they ever make this style in 1/4 863 f shows the newer offset styles

Handle says w. germany on it...that should be your clue. :):

Its a facom clone before palm control in the 1990's. The latter developed the offset along with the plate cover for the selector switch.

The modern facoms all have the same shape as that, ad the latest "new" facom is sort of a retro of the pre-palm control version if you like what you have there.

As far as 1/4 inch, 863F, they are all pretty hard to come by in the US...I would say in any version. A west germany vintage one is probably even more so, as it would have had to have been imported and then pop up for sale.

Unlikely to fine NOS in any quatity for example.

My 1985 Hazet catalog doesn't show a 1/4 fine tooth, just the 8816F 3/8" and the 916F 1/2".

This is the 916F 1985 vintage along with an 8816 standard 3/8.

Yeah that older style 1/2 is very hard to come the Mercedes guy has that exact ratchet he bought in the 80's and one of his favorites shows how good these ratchets are too
