Got the shelf out of the garage, installed in the cabinet over the fridge, and stuff put away again. Project done.

Replaced the 4 1/2” column drop with a new polished 3”.

I want to engine turn it, to match the dash insert. That will be a winter project.

I had a few paint chips on the Cayman bonnet that were bugging me...
I had a touch up bottle of the OEM paint with the small brush inside the cap...
I knew I didn't want to use the supplied brush because it always creates a "pimple" bump at the repair site...
I had a couple paint pens that work with capillary action and filled the paint reservoir in the pen..
With a bright light so I could see well, it did a nice job of keeping the paint inside the chip walls and by dabbing the tool you can control the amount of paint... Cleanup with Acetone...
And better yet, no paint "pimples"... This is a great tool to use on paint chips...
Worked out well...

Pens ordered...i have a couple small chips to fix myself.
Thanks for the tip

Hmmm,
Last Sunday my neighbor lady borrowed my stapler to "staple the liner into an elevated raised bed planter box" ---
and hasn't brought it back yet.
Did it take you 5 days to do yours? ;)
I don't need it anytime soon but hope she returns it.
Maybe she wants you to “come get it” when her significant other is not around.🤔

And another old lady story.

Did you know that 300 staples are stronger than a grown man? Way back in the day when I worked at The Computer Center, really, the overnight shifts had a little potluck Xmas party together. One ahole brought booze. And he drank all of it himself.

This particular ahole then tried to get handsier than usual with us girls. A few of us tried to lure him outside, with the intent of locking him out of the building til he sobered up or froze.

At this time the building was getting some renovations, with all the wood, plastic sheeting and tools you can imagine. We were on the way to the loading dock. And right there was a lovely T50 tacker and a box of staples.

With three sober girls, we succeeded in pushing him onto a sheet of plywood, where I'm sure he thought his drunken dreams were going to come true. Then we stapled his clothes to the plywood and left him in that gutted office.

The contractors found him the next morning. He had to do the walk of shame to his car in his messy skivvies. Of course he was not fired or sanctioned. Amazingly, the three of us were not fired or sanctioned, not even lectured. However, he did keep his hands to himself after that. And every now and then, someone would walk by him snapping a big stapler to see him flinch.

So far I'm striking out on shooting the topcoat on my truck outdoors, as there is no clearance to get to the roof inside.

Strike 1. It is 91% humidity and water keeps condensing on the truck despite tarping it overnight.

Strike 2. The paint prep spray takes off the single stage I'm painting over on the doors making a mess and requiring re-sanding ( which I now have done.)

Strike 3. A bird for over and pooped on the roof.

I'm hoping it will be dry enough to paint before 8:30 when the wind should start to pick up.

Picked up more beer yesterday after getting all pissed off at my welder. Even told the wife during the shutdown don’t be surprised if I order a 212 Auto set!

got track bar brackets to fab up and weld in today. pretty sure I figured out what’s going on with my Miller 175….remembered last night, hey last time this happened it was cause of welder being cranked, slow the wire speed down and let’s see what happens?

hope to be back on brakes and welding out the quarter panels this week. June 25th is coming up fast!

I have a 211 with auto set. It sometimes takes it a second to find it's equilibrium, but the auto wire feed is a game changer.

So, the property we bought has a few old farm implements on it. Completely buried in brush and leaves.. .today, we cleared around them so you can actually see them.
The sickle bar mower is missing some parts, but still cool for yard art. Its from the Thomas Company in OH and appears to be an old horse drawn unit.
The spring rake has no labels so not sure about that one. The horse drawn tiller is in good shape other thatn the wood handles. Going to try to make some replacements out of redwood....
Everything will eventually get a good cleaning and some paint...

Mowed the home lawn before it got too hot or started raining--whichever it was going to do. Being down-weather from an 8-near-10,000' ridge makes predicting the weather hard.

Did chores. Checked and filled batteries on the brewery electric forklift. Thought about working on the Brick. Decided to have a beer up front first. No need to rush things of a Sunday afternoon.

Unpacked and set-up a new 30 liter ultrasonic cleaner. The previous cleaner had multiple issues - fault on the board causing the display to imitate a disco ball (and unit inop) and a slow leak. It was only 2-1/2 years old, but I was never in love with it performance- wise. I could have just picked up a generic chinese unit for $200, but the jungle had an “upgraded” unit for $20 more. I’m glad I did because the new model is an order of magnitude better than the old one. The tank heats faster and takes about half the time as the previous cleaner had. It’s much quieter as well.

Then I glued-up a couple pieces of Oak for a wide threshold - just one of those projects that has been on the list for many years.

Finished by cutting up a few pieces of Applewood on the bandsaw. Pork chops tonight and a little apple smoke on the grill will cap off the day nicely, but not before spreading out many bags of composted manure as a garden top dressing. The tomato plants are already looking pretty healthy.

Mixed bag today.

Pulled the dozer out of storage, checked for leaks (still none), checked to see if it was still running rough at low rpm (it is), tried to free frozen track tensioner (no luck), figured out what filters I need, measured buttonhead grease fitting so I can order adapter.

IMG_6349.JPG

Also checked runout on my shop drill press - .004" - acceptable.

IMG_6342.JPG

Checked to see if I have the correct length pushrods for AMC 360 build.

Rotating the chuck can sometimes help get you less run-out. As can cleaning the bore and taper. Very gently reaming burrs out of the quil and stoning the chuck taper can also help. My HF delight has sub .002 run-out after fiddling with it.

Yep, I cleaned the innards before I checked runout. It's a bigger DP, and not used for super precise work, so .004" is good enough for me.

I did a major cleanup in here this weekend.
I had a tractor in here for a month and then the Bush Hog mower in here so had everything pushed down to the far end to make room.
I lifted the mower out this morning and moved things back where they belong.
I can actually get to my machines again.
Lot of cleaning, sweeping, putting stray tools and stuff away. I'm still waiting on parts for the gear box for the mower so that's still on my big table. I also got the head stock and a bunch of parts from the doner lathe out and gone yesterday and loaded a large tooling cabinet and belt sander into the pickup to bring to the auction house tomorrow morning.
My garage will never be "clean" like some of you here but at least I have it tidy for the first time in a while.
Oh, and after supper I cut up another batch of old bath towels that I got at the thrift store for rags.

Wrapped up the boat trailer fenders, all in all...I'm happy with the outcome. There's 1 spot I may revisit after I get them mounted. Little quick trick, heated a bolt and melted through the carpet at the mounting location, beats pulling and damaging it with a drill or chasing an invisible hole that was there last time I checked while upside down trying to line it all up on a solo mission. New work tables came in handy to get me off the ground to finalize the last bit of work. Get them mounted next, then wait on Dura-Deck Marine to ship me the new step pads.

Final bit of paint work on the drill press tables and base. Not pictured, but I got a 4" pvc tube assembled to soak the post in the acid/ rust remover concoction.

Pics, no order...

Having replaced the purple colour coded wire with red, I decided I wanted the ends labeled so that I won’t be wondering WTF the next time I’m working on it. So, some clear adhesive shrink tubing from Amazon, and some paper labels, and away we go.

IMG_9402.jpegIMG_9403.jpeg

UPS tracking says that my A/C parts will be arriving “tomorrow” and that they’ll be arriving “Tuesday”. This being Sunday, I’m not sure what to believe. Either one should work out ok.

Installed a new AC compressor in my 2019 Mazda 3 today. I think the clutch went bad on the old one as I could see it spin but never engage when AC was turn on.
Everything was annoying to do from removing covers around the car to get access (so many hidden clips), accessing belt tensioner, and contorting to get to one very well hidden mounting bolt. But it's blowing cold now, which is good because it's about to get hot here.
Looking forward to the next thing to go bad on this car! It's been one thing after another.

We took a dead branch off the big poplar today; a high one! Too high for the pole saw, even with a 12 ft ladder.

but its dead and its a poplar, so should break off pretty easily, right? I figured out on the maple how to get a line up high (looon painters extension pole 15 - 16 ft or so? - with a wire hook, a lighter nylon rope and a weight and drop the weight over the branch...)

Had to use an 8 ft ladder anyway to reach a cleft!

OK, line attached. Just give it a tug right? Uh, No. Tug harder! Uh. Get help and tug harder! Hmmm this one is not old dead wood... (Jeaze the wind took the top 30 ft of the smallest polar...)

Took a break

OK more tension needed... Grabbed a 1000# block and tackle. That branch just flexed...

Took another break, came back and released more tension and got more length on the block and tackle. Took up all the slack I reasonably could...

Walked the line past the anchor. (used one of my oaks) Still could not break it and the line is cutting into my hands (mind you i have 6 ft of leverage to the croft the rope is on, and the branch it turns out is not even 2-1/2" where it finally broke (spoiler).

Got gloves got to the end of the line and put it around my **** so I can lean into it and just use my gloved hands to keep he loop in the rope. I pull. I pull some more. I pull some more. and it cracks and I have slack!

It does not come down.

I go look. It is laying horizontally from the big tree to the next bigger tree next to it (10 ft space). still 20 feet in the air still attached a bit.

I grab the closer end of the block and tackle and pull. l pull harder. It finally comes crashing down; the broken end straight down and through the end of the seat of our dying park bench.
That bench was on the opposite side of the smaller tree (spaced ten feet away, so closer to 12 or 14 feet...)

But we have Victory! Its down!

The wood for that bench needs replaced (rotted) so I don't care. its still a "no damage" drop... :ninja:
