Good evening.
First, I would like to thank all the members who supported and educated me through the years of my search.
I started my search 28 January 2018 (my first entrance into notebook with my first purchase of tools and boxes. My first tool chest (outside of plastic ones which I used in college) was Snap ON KR-56 ($49 including gas). (I thought it was 28 February as I mentioned to some of you, but I recently went through the notebook and 28 February was the purchase of the first Snap On tools from retired mechanic - Snap on 1/4 ratchet with plastic handle, 3/8 flex ratchet in 1/4 ratchet body, 1/4 breaker bar, two 1/4 drive drivers with plastic handles, two 4" extensions, 10" extension and ratchet spinner adapter TMS70 - everything for $81.50 including the gas). I thought it was very expensive back then (GJ made me want some nice tools after using Autozone, Sears and Home Depot for my tool needs)
I created several threads asking for details about K60, K200, etc. A lot of members showed their K60/K200 boxes. I remember FJ 432 showing his collection when I tried to learn the difference between K200 and KR 302 (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/snap-on-k260-vs-kr-302.428324/). Alienbaby 17 showed his K200. There were multiple other members whose toolboxes I saw in different threads...
In May 2021 I got a breakthrough - I got K200 (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/2021-garage-sale-thread.470804/page-27#post-9007788) As you know, this was a 50% win only. The seller put a newer box on top without disclosing he had an original K60 top. He subsequently decided to sell the top one - I saw it, but a touch too late. I was second in line and he refused to have me have it (I openly asked him how much he wants because even the paint overspray matched, same patina, etc)
I tried to bid on one in PA on ebay - I remember that Thehorse13 and Oldtuleguy educated me about the real size of the box (as I was trying to figure our how to ship it (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/threads/snap-on-k60-dimension-and-weight-question.506207/)... lost the bid
I missed K60 in 2024 which needed a restoration in Farmington CT (obtained by one of the guys here - he reached out to me after having questions). If you still do not want to be identified, please text me if you finally restored it
Somewhere in between 2018 and 2024 I also lost an bid on one of the local auctions for K60/K200 in RI (went for $1900 - Auctioneed originally told me no interest from anyone and thought I would definitely get it if I bid around $700 limit (I bid more, I thing) - I guess 2 guys got into a bidding war.
,,, I was also e-mailing a person in Western MA for many years around Christmas/New Year time asking if he was ready to sell one of his K60s (he has 2... Found a picture on random sight and kept trying...)
Boxes sometimes kept showing up throughout the years, but always a touch too far. I remember Don making a whole road trip to get his K260 combo...
The last box I missed was May 20, 2026 this year (https://www.garagejournal.com/forum...f-garage-journal.49743/page-443#post-11634066) I looked at used books ad and noticed a picture of K60 picking from between... Reached out, but it was sold. For very little money too...
And so I thought I lost it. Except I decided to reach to a person whose sister sold it (the guy was selling the books) and asked if he can reach out to the buyer and see if the person would consider reselling. I did not have much hope. But guess what - there was some potential interest. I send my contact information via the original seller of the box to the buyer. I learned that the person bought it to flip it (A-HA moment). Then came the hard question: How much are you willing to pay for it. I think I offered a touch too much knowing what it sold for, but I did not know if the reseller knew what it was (in which case lower offer could have ended the contact - saw that before as well...). I offered a good amount and we agreed on the price.
However, the seller could not meet when I wanted to and we were planning to meet in a week (always a dangerous deal - I lost some tools including CT K60 and Blackhawk DD like this - both sold a day before the trip was already planned).
Then suddenly I get a text from the new owner on Su - can you come? (sure, but at around 15.00) Well, can not do it past 14.00. To make matters worse, one of my relatives ran out of meds and I needed to pick it up before going anywhere. On call doc was not answering. Time was running out. I literally went to the pharmacy and sat next to it knowing that if the doc does not call, I will miss the box opportunity (PLEASE DO NOT FORGET TO RENEW YOUR MEDS - ON CALL DOCS ARE BUSY!!!). I called one of my friends and kept him waiting for potential trip. I had approximately 53 min roadtrip from the pharmacy (I agreed with the relative to drop it off later as I had no time). Finally, after 3 messages to On call, the meds were called into the pharmacy. (think about me sitting in front of it and texting the seller that I am still doing my best, but not knowing if I can come on time). Well, 1 hour before pharmacy closes and around 50 minutes before my deadline the pharmacy gets the call and I am notified that I can come in for meds and pick them up. Longest wait in line (counting seconds), call to my relative that I got his meds and will drop them off after several hours the same day, run to the next state (with my friend leading ahead as I was running a touch late...) All the drama build up!!! Interesting - this is a 3d tool road trip with my friend (we are friends from back in the college days: Weaver Jack to CT, Bonney box combo to VT and now up North again!!!)
Well, I met a nice person. I got the box. I went to the bar with my friend and drank a nice cool Heiniken while eating a chicken burger (I guess that bar was famous for them and my friend said I should try that rather than regular)
,,, Enough of old man tales... It's in my house upsetting my wife till I clean it and bring it to the basement to put it on top of K200 (removing KR56 and K420 which are on top).
P.S. My K200 is newer and has different handles inside. This is an older K60 (though not the oldest version which had metal around the drawers - missed one of those as well). Can not find any K200 pictures (lost a computer in between) - pulling old ones from GJ - from when I unleaded it (there are probably more of them here, but I am too tired to look - worked both days, back to work tomorrow)
... K60 and K200 have 2 holes - on the bottom of K60 and on the top of K200. Are there any special bolts/locking mechanisms which were originally used to
connect it? If anybody knows, please let me know..
.

Again, THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR THE INSPIRATION, EDUCATION AND SUPPORT!!!!!
