I've been battling the flu since Monday. Today was the first day I finally started feeling better. I probably got the crud from vegas. I hope the wife doesn't get it we've got some traveling left to do. My drill bits showed up in the mail yesterday. Using my engine lift it was pretty easy to get the post off the pallet. Now im going to mark down on my concrete where I need to move the post. I might do that today but if not I'll probably get it done next week after I get back from Rancho.

I got the driver's side post set, minus one anchor. The strike anchors aren't as good as redheads. The nail portion of the anchor is made out of brass and when striking ive had a few bend really bad. The passenger side post is up. I was running out of time and just put one anchor on it. I'll probably get most of it done today unless the wife has me doing other stuff. It took me forever how to figure out how to raise the arm manually. I tried just muscling it. It felt like it was locked, nope it's just heavy AF. I used a floor jack to raise it.

@Xti04 Happy EMS week

99% done with the lift, I need to adjust and make sure both post are level and re torque the anchors. I ordered some hydro fluid I was going to fill it up and give it a test run but Im going to have to take the motor off when my replacement anchor shows up. The motor without fluid is pretty heavy. Running the cables through the pulleys weren't too bad. I tightened all the cables they should be good to go. Still gotta clean up my mess, I might get to that at some point today. Probably be a few weeks till I get my truck on it. Im headed out of town next week for a few days.

Nice work man! I put mine in over a weekend, and it seemed like it took forever to get it done. Standing the lift up was stressful and torquing it all down and installing the rest was the easy part. Once its running you will wonder how you ever worked without one.

Thanks @Xti04 Defiantly standing up the post was the sketchiest, Its damn near too much weight. If you don't know wtf you're doing you can really hurt yourself. Im proud that I measured correctly and everything lined up. Im pretty pissed at the one anchor that I couldn't get to seat properly. I'll drill it out a little bit more before I install. A lot of my friends have already asked if they could come and use my lift to work on their vehicles. I don't have an issue with that just need to clean up your mess and pay the beer tax.

Yesterday the wife an I went up to our work and moved our academy trailer into the app bay. A local fire dept donated a type 1 Engine, in doing so it cut down on the amount of space we have in the apparatus bay. The trailer had been sitting out in the tower parking lot. The administration likes for everything to have a home. We were able to park it into the tail end of the app bay behind the engines. Only took a few mins, wife an I are a pretty good team when it comes to all things backing trailers and towing in general.
My original caulk gun took a dump, I squeezed the F out of it getting the anchor sludge to come out and broke the handle part. I ordered a Ryobi electric caulk gun it showed up last night.
I was able to clean up my shop and get my lift ready. I added hydro fluid and a laundry list of things I need to do before I put something in the air. I tested it out, works pretty good overall very happy with this new equipment.
Last night my wife an I went to a 60th birthday for one of our friends. We got back around 8 and it was starting to get dark. My son was in the back yard with his telescope with our dog. I went to go bring him in and my wife said let the dog be out with his boy. I told her I don't think it's a good idea theres skunks out there. Sure enough within 30mins he got sprayed... No one listens to dad. Thankfully we had all the stuff to wash him. He slept in the garage last night. Our last dog had gotten sprayed it was worse then, this time no too bad.

Memorial Day We flew our flag at half staff from 0800-1200, I think thats proper etiquette. Found my that avocado tree is going off with little avocados which will be nice, Took the family to see the new Mando movie. It was pretty cool my kids enjoyed it, I heard that it didnt do well in the box office though. Before our trip I had to clean my pool filters they're were choking the pump. The **** part about that is adding DE. That stuff goes everywhere in the pool. I've been pouring into the skimmer and it ends up in the spa and all over the bottom of my pool for weeks. If anyone has any hacks to over come this let me know.

Non Garage Stuff -

Wife and I flew to New Orleans for the weekend. She's got to attend a mandatory conference for her position. We stayed at the Hyatt near the Caesars dome. Awesome hotel sorta sketchy though, their elevators are glass on the back side so you see going up and down. Not a fan of that. What a great week to stay in NOLA, we just so happened to be there while Sail250 was going on. A bunch of sailors were in town. There was a few navy ships, a Destroyer, Amphibious Assault ship. Lots of tall ships, one from the coast guard the USCG Eagle and a couple that were from other countries. Checked out the WW2 museum. It was pretty crowded. The wife an I spent 2 hrs checking it out before heading to lunch. I got roped into a street performance.... Wife relished this moment. I wasn't super stoked I was gonna try and walk away but one of my friends was recording me.
It was a trip that a lot of their lights were gas lamps. We don't see these where im from. Went to Bourbon st a bunch. Smoked a few fresh hand rolled cigars. I'd never smoked a cigar that fresh. Night and day difference. We're planning on going back next year for her conference and brining my Inlaws and my two sons. We'll skip bourbon st with the kids and in-laws but theres a bunch of things id like to take the kids to see. Family trip to the WW2 museum, River boat dinner trip, go check out some gators. Theres a Dave and Busters right next to where we stayed, I know my kids would enjoy that place.

@tedp yes, have you been there?

Some garage related stuff, I finished up the list of stuff I needed to do before I can use my lift. I lubed all the pulleys, tightened the cables and cable bolts and once again made sure its level. The plug was bugging me so I took it off and added some conduit with a 90. No more exposed wires and it looks clean. We took my wife's car into the dealer for some warranty work. They pumpkin is leaking fluid, ford can fix that for free. We're down to one vehicle so I wont be working on my truck. Also discovered a drop of oil on the passenger side of the motor. I need to get some eyes on it. I hope its just filter related we'll see.

Ford finished up on my wife's Explorer, the vent tube on the top of the pumpkin came off, they put it back on replaced the windshield wiper blades and took care of a recall for the software/backup camera. Having my wife's car back meant that I can put my truck up in the air.

Easier said than done for a novice like me, it took a lot of back and forth ing, going over and over finally ive gotten the center point. Then nothing makes sense. Theres a huge shroud next the fuel / def tank that doesn't give me access to the frame. I was able to put the front arms under the radial arms on the truck on both sids no problem. Lifting the back its a littler bit different. If I move the drivers side up forward to the frame where the shroud isn't taking any real estate I can lift it. The passenger side I can put it on the frame if I had another 6".... I used a block of wood and lifting the truck and took the weight of the suspension. It seems like it would work but I didnt wanna lift it off the ground with a block of wood. I ordered extensions that will be here tomorrow and go from there.

Theres a video on YouTube where a guy was able to fully extend the arms on both sides to the radial arms in the front and rear under the hanger for the leaf springs. My arms aren't long enough. The second video I watched there was a guy that had the same lift points as I did. It worked he wasn't super happy with it but it was stable. He had a screw jack post in the rear of the truck to help support, I will be doing the same. Im going to try and lift the truck the way I did with the extensions tomorrow, If I don't like it Im going to pull that shroud off and get a better access point on the frame.

Kinda bummed I still need to do **** to the lift and truck to make this thing work. Ive spent more money on this project than I wanted to. Not a baller but thankfully I had some money set aside to pay for this stuff.

Tooo be continued...

Dead in the water
I tried to lift my F250 the other day. Several anchors failed and both posts started to lean in. Truck wasn't off the ground. I was able to put it back down. Theres one crack near an anchor. I was sick to my stomach when I saw this. At this moment im at a stand still. I wasn't super happy using these anchors. The nail is made out of brass. It's too soft of a metal to pound into the ground to expand the anchors. I did do a little bit of research on these types and there pretty much dog ****. Theres a few YouTube videos out there saying there junk. Im kicking myself in the *** right now.
Theres a guy that professionally installs lifts in this area, I talked with him and he's gonna come out and assess my concrete and lift. He said if the concrete is good he'll reinstall. Im pissed off at myself. Ive already put a lot of time and money into this. I guess it's just gonna be more money. At some point I'll have a functioning lift. Thankfully this isn't going to break our bank getting this reinstalled... even if that means a re pour. Im gonna give it a few months then have the guy come out and take a look.
I almost didnt post this. It's pretty embarrassing that I couldn't get this thing installed properly. But Im not perfect by any means and I've make plenty of mistakes in the past. This one im going to learn from and move on. Every once in a while I get something wrong, it's been a little bit so I guess it's my turn. I still have some projects that I'll be posting but the lift is gonna be on the back burner for a little bit. I told my wife about what happened. She wasn't super stoked about me getting a lift to begin with. I told her what happened and she said that we can get this thing sorted out in a few months.
Im hoping my contractor that did my concrete didnt pour shity concrete. He told me it was 4500 psi concrete. He did this on a Saturday, so im hoping this wasn't some bs little side hustle he did on the cheap end. I did notice that when I was drilling the holes for the anchors it didnt take too long to go down 6 1/2 inches. I waited over a month prior to installing. Im not even sure how Id go about getting this tested.

Your experience is what makes me want to get a 4 post instead of a 2 post. Plus I plan to store a car on the 4 post lift so it's a better choice for me. If I need the height, I can also take the lift outside where I don't have to deal with the inside roof height.

I hope you get this resolved easily and quickly.

Thanks @madison069 Its will get resolved, might end up costing me more than Id like but thankfully we can afford it. The Install guy said he would re do if my concrete is good. If it's not it looks like im getting it re poured. I hope I don't have to do that. Honestly I think I just need better anchors. It's hard to find anything thats 11/16th diameter at 6" long. Nothing local has that size. Ive seen some on the inter webs.

I noticed you did a drive over 2 post instead of a clear floor with the top beam across it. I wonder if that has something to do with it?

My two post is meant for lower ceilings. Since my shop ceiling is lower it has a lower rail where the hydro lines and cables run. If I did have a top beam across the top it would be more stable. It's gonna be on hiatus for a few months till I start back at work. I got enough stuff to keep me busy. Like I said if I need to replace the concrete Im prepared to do so I hope thats not the case. But from here on out it will be nothing but professionally installed.
