Alans Ordering Process:

Very Easy, everyone was very helpful and patient in explaining the process.
Once you order they send the order to Carolina and Carolina is to send the plans for the permit.

Carolina Carports.

Took them every bit of a week to send the plans. Once you have plans and permit in hand you can get a concrete contractor to prepare the site. Once the site is prepared you must send photos of it, at which time the scheduler will put you in line.

Communication on the whole is not great, you send the pictures and don’t hear from anyone, when you call they will tell you that you will hear about two weeks ahead of time.

The first appointment was on a Thursday, they called Wednesday afternoon and said that because of issues with the customer before us they would not be able to do it and would call to reschedule (no they did not simply push the appointment to the next week.)

A few weeks after they said they would arrive approximately 10AM on Thursday about that time they called and said that it would be more like 1, 130 rolled around and no sign, no call and no reply to text. Call to scheduler resulted in them saying they would arrive in about an hour (that would have been about 3) no sign and no call, finally as i was leaving about 7 they rolled down the road. They would have probably worked all night in the dark if i had let them.

At this point pretty aggravated, I let them work a while and they promised to come back the next morning. I said they could arrive at 7 it was more like 10:30, they worked until about 5 when it started raining. Said it was too slick and could they return over the weekend, we settled on Sunday and they showed about 9 to finish.

They clearly had a system and did a good job, if not perfect. I had serious doubts starting out.

Concrete Contractor,

Did some things I'm not 100% happy with but it’ll work, the foreman was very nice, i think he puts a little too much trust in his guys.

The Buildings slab itself is great and the county inspector pronounced it perfectly suitable for anything on top and overkill for the pre fab metal building.

More later.

Nice work, sounds about like how my building went. My guys were on time but communication with the company was terrible. Im also a resident of the scruffy city too.

It's no different out here on the left coast. Just the way it works these days I guess. The patio turned out OK, but the process was kinda iffy. Dudes showed up without tools, and thought it was OK to just use mine. Never asked. Not cool.

Ive been remiss with updates.

So there was an issue with the door which was bent. They said they would bring another one and could be back within 2 weeks. - nothing in 2 weeks.

Called and was told the same crew had to do it and they did not cone to Scruffy City all the time like they said. given a date 8 is weeks out, they rescheduled twice. Pitched a fit which got me pretty much no where, when they finally did show up it was a different crew, he said the first crew wrecked their rig...

He replaced the door but should see daylight where the seal had been banded, he said it would relax and expand which it did not. Carolina and originally agreed to just mail me the seal bu they sent a header seal, after calling and getting 3 people to agree to mail me the correct seal i was told a manager refused to send it and they wanted to come replace it in another 8 weeks.

Alan's tried to help but they got stone walled just as bad as i did.

I tried a couple off the Jungle Website but they were too thick to slide in the track, i finally had the local garage door place do it.

My Verdict on Carolina is it is a pretty nice building completely let down by non existent to surly customer service and extremely poor communication.

My advice is do not pay them anything until its perfect.

In other news, the drain is inadequate for a heavy storm, the rain overpowers the drain and forces its way under the door. I am going to have to put a wider drain in and one further up, for now quick dams work to divert the rush of water away from the door. This is partially my concrete guys fault too as the slope is not right and he removed more material than necessary lowering the building close to a foot form where it would have been.

Did you use Alan's off Western Ave? I had him price my building out initially, but went with Eversafe out of Georgia instead. They screwed me over on plans and drug their feet, but did a good job on the building.

Alan's Factory Outlet out of Virginia..

The place on Western is R&R isn't it?

THE only one at Carolina who was good was the plan/permit lady, Caroline I believe ... They should put her in charge of the whole outfit.

I even had Sandy at Alan's Involved (she is the BBB and other complaint person) And she was just about as frustrated as i was.
