Think these belong here, even though they’re parts holders.

Picked these up for $30 each.

Left has to be cleaned, right has been cleaned up with an Evapo-Rust dip and the scrubbed with CLR. So a pretty good before and after.

Plan is to hammer some of the more egregious bits back into shape, then yes Penetrol to preserve the awesome color and patina, though if anyone recommends a better top coat I’m all ears

Good job on the repaint. If the color was bad in these I’d consider it but that hammered blue is so nice and the patina works for me.

Stanley Craftsman Tool Kit 1963

This popped up on FB and at first I thought it was a project somebody put together for their kid. It turns out Stanley produced a bunch of these around 1963. Anybody encounter these boxes? I never have.

I’ve never seen one that looks like that. The brace and giant wooden mallet makes me think a bit older. (The ugly back saw handle may be newer, argh). You have to be careful, many of these I see are repopulated with incorrect era or maker tools. Some people go nuts trying to find “correct”, not realizing it didn’t exist (I.e. Stanley labeled pliers). At many flea markets, I see empty boxes.

The 1960s catalog shows (poorly) a tool kit or three.

this looks a bit closer, from 1953

Have not been able to find the books yet to match the covers.
Maybe this one

And someone already dug into the history for me, in a Twin Peaks fan page. Gotta scroll down a bit under halfway.

Just brought mine home from work a few weeks ago. It was in use as a First Aid kit for decades. I had it on display in my office until the HSE guy told me to refill it or take it home….. tough choice….😃

This interesting shop made box followed me home from a swap meet a while back. It has room for a few saws and other basic carpentry tools. Probably drills in the leather loops in the top. It's the ornate corner and edge guards that I couldn't resist. It also has remnants of a leather strap that once wrapped around it. The hasp is an Eagle, probably from the 20's. A few pics. Ed.

Yeah, wow. Those would be hard to pass up.
I really tried to keep walking. Did not expect to pick up another wooden carpenter's tool chest. I took about three steps past it and my feet quit moving. Turned around and made a deal on it. It's found a place in the shop with a few other chests and boxes. Ed.

And another Snap On K60 just disappears from within the reach. Noticed it in the ad selling unrelated items, asked the seller, but it's already sold : (
I do not think it was even posted...

Stanley made wooden tool kits before the war, that is the descendent of those.
I'm glad you chimed in. Did I send you an empty one I found? Or am I thinking of someone and something else? I've seen others, too, at flea markets, 'tweeners, though, not as old as the one I think I recall sending you, but older than the one pictured above.

The only thing that chest is missing are pieces of eight and doubloons! :) (Seriously, I would be tempted to load that up with fake coins and jewels, bury it, and then accidentally "find" it with my grandsons helping me do some contrived yardwork just to see the looks on their faces! HAHA)

A treasure chest! That's actually a really good idea. Loaded up for posterity that could be the families great "find" when sorting through my earthly possessions post demise.....as well as a fun prop for current times. Ed.

Yes, it was me whom you sent it to. It now resides as part of my Stanley/woodworking collection. Which is getting buried by the sheer volume of stuff, and needs to be thinned back for better appreciation.

Here's one that's new to me (Kennedy Style CS-19-938674):

55304219880_7e1cbb9a33_o.jpg

Just another Kennedy Sig Series....

55303966763_38595ba740_o.jpg

until I opened it!

I don't see another CS-16 with those wooden dividers for the upper tray anywhere online.

It's in great shape! The least bit of rust on the plated fittings and a minimal amount of white paint spatter (why is it always white?). No dents, no dings.

Now to figure out what the hell to do with it and where the hell to put it....

Haven't had a chance to deal with that big Snap-on roller cabinet yet. Maybe later this week. The small ones on top are some that I rounded up out of the garage and cleaned up.
We moved some stuff around out there while working on the garage door and found a couple more.

Here are those three I finished up on last week:
Craftsman black tool box 20 x 8.5 x 9.5 060226 01.jpg
Craftsman black tool box 20" x 8.5" x 9.5" 06/02/26
Craftsman Crowntop tool box 18 x 8 x 9 060226 01.jpg
Craftsman Crowntop tool box 18" x 8" x 9" 06/02/26
Vermont American tool box 19 x 7 x 7.5 060226 01.jpg
Vermont American tool box 19" x 7" x 7.5" 06/02/26

Not sure if I will able to get finished up on these others before the end of the week. Have some health issues going on presently.

The other red box you see in the photo above (on top of the Snap-on roller) is a Penncraft 1/2" drive SAE set

Make sure you do not avoid help if you need it. Lost a former mentor, a great teacher and an old military guy, who decided that he can tough it out and presented to the hospital when he was already in full blown sepsis...
