"Amnemonic" Ha, I see what you did there! (Unless that was a typo...)

All this time, I thought I was the only one who can never remember which way to point the ratchet lever...

Worse, even after trial, error, and correcting it, I often bump the lever and have to start over.

So, my personal mnemonic is, "Hey stupid, don't forget to check the rotation, and keep your mitts off the lever once you start!"

Mike
It was a typhoon, but I can be a cleaver that way.

Good mnemonic, by the way.

Working on the new t-shirt design now. Might still have some koozies from years before but no plans on a new koozie.
Would be awesome to incorporate something for the 250th anniversary. 13 star flag, guy wearing revolutionary attire holding wrenches, George Washington dressed in greasy coveralls, lol just spitting ideas.

If you’re looking for a tank periscope this is the spot. The sku number is tankie. I have one of these. Haven’t chosen what to do with it yet, but all my friends have seen it. And I’ve spent hours fiddling with it. The optics are very high quality. No more per hour than going to the movies and buying snacks. The packaging assured a perfect condition part even after 75 years. Only 40 left. Way more fun than buying a snap on wrench, but maybe not quite as useful. If you need a wrench buy a Bonney. They have those too. Long list of brands are available, Plomb even.

Like I posted previously, a great way to keep an eye out, from the garage, for when UPS is bringing something you don’t want other members of the household to see. Wondering now if I can hook them up to a webcam or nest camera.

There was a time... quite a decent period of time... when you could buy a U.S.-made tape measure at HJE. U.S. Tape was the brand. But Wilde and Wright also had some. I picked up a 25' Wilde in some distant HJE order and it's been great. That basic shiny silver metal (they never were metal, not even the Stanleys) basic tape measure marches on, but alas, no longer made in USA:

But I've checked and have found some U.S.-made Stanley FatMax for sale!

Here's an American-made tape by U.S. Tape that intrigues me because I always work alone and it can hang onto a nail:
But its real claim to fame is that it measures linear distances -- or, on the back side of the tape, through the magic of Pi, it can tell you what's diameter of the round thing you have it on right now.

Honorable mentions from a First-World nation, Japan. I know nothing of these but they sure aren't cheap and I would not be surprised if they're very good:

Sloyd knives are in stock again!

We must teach the children in the methods of Sloyd.

Thumbnail of link is misleading, this is my Sloyd post:

(They're basic, old timey knives with wood handles, made in NJ.)

One thing on my list -- a cheap little machinist's square, 6" long base, $7, COO India.

974 in stock.

They have many other larger squares from this source.

And some nice ones from Japan (Shinwa brand.)

Only 7 ball handle ball impact drivers left left. There is a 20% off discount on these with the code: VESSEL. might need to order the impact before Epstein day.

The L handle is a fidget toy. I’m surprised he doesn’t know that. Why anyone bought the Tekton L handle from 100 years ago with no features at all is something I will never understand, but we all have our gimmick tool preferences.

Just ordered the last one. Do I need it? Not really BUT, a good standout tape is worth a try.

Here's a new, neat little level by Channellock, a new addition to the HJE website:

Inventory: -1

HJE, Channellock and Amazon pages won't tell me the COO.

Since we last met, it appears HJE is carrying Council Tool again. I have never understood the modern fad of paying too much for odd Scandinavian axes and hatchets when high quality American-made axes are still here for less!

I suspect some people, when they make a lot of money and have disposable cash, they want to get the "best" and assume that very high price reflects that. So they will rebuy common things at high cost.

I agree Council axes and hammers are likely just as good as the extremely expensive Scandinavian ones. Or at least I doubt people could objectively discern significant differences in use for the similar sizes and patterns.
