I am working on a slightly off topic Ford truck that has the Thompson/Eaton style power steering pump and am having a hard time getting power steering lines. I am not able to use the original lines, as I need a larger fitting for the gear box. From what I have gathered the fitting on the power steering pump is a 5/8-18 SAE 45 fitting (J512). What are my options for making an adapter? I have seen where someone used a brass extended 5/8-18 nut and silver soldered a female inverted flare fitting. Is this a viable option? Will it hold up? Any other suggestions?

I have not found one with the 5/818 SAE 45 female and an 11/16" IF male on the other end. Looks like a factory line for a 70's for is only a 1/2" IF male on the opposite end.

The hydraulic shop said they can cut the hard line off of the old hose and crip it on the new, but mine is pretty crusty.

I've used adapters on Chevies. Have you checked aftermarket sources like CCP and Speedway?

I think you can get both hose ends and have a shop make a hose of the correct length.

Option B is to convert to 6AN fittings and make your own hose.
