I suggest buying these in-person if possible. I'm only giving a first impression, but when I went to buy them I noticed some had better/worse jaw alignment.
My Knipex were dead-on parallel, consistent width and height between the top and bottom jaws. Checking out the 12" size I went through all 15 pairs on the shelf to pick the best one. That's not to say 14/15 were bad, but there was definitely better and worse pairs.
There were only three 10" pliers at my store, but I was fairly happy with all of them. My store was sold out of the 7".
All of them, maybe save one, would have made decent tools - but it's a pet peeve of mine when the jaws don't line up or are wildly unevenly ground to make up for casting problems. If you hand-pick them and examine the jaws, you will find considerable variance.

I bought a set of the workpro mini-pliers not that long ago, I do like 'em when I need something for a quick grab that doesn't need a whole lot of plier (or wrench).

Looks decent, especially for that price. And hacksaws are a tool where you always need at least 3, so you don't have to swap blades, right?

I got my mini pliers. I think they're pretty sweet for the price.
The knock-off cobras are just like my other pair. They have a nice finish and fine adjustment on the button lock.
Having experienced these before I say they feel like the cobras (except for the different adjustment mechanism), but the Cobras have better jaws. They're close - but not quite the same.
The pliers wrench feels quite good. Same fine size adjustment. Finish is excellent - save maybe a VERY slight jaw misalignment. Handles feel good. Perfectly parallel movement and smooth finish though.
That's just a first-impression. I'll have to see how they function.

I think it was "Evercraft" branded. I bought one last weekend since I was doing breaks on my F150. It worked great. Simple, but heavy-duty tool.
The one-handed speeders (or some big pliers) are faster that going back and forth between the two screws on this one when you're working on a dual-piston caliper, but this felt like it could really generate some force and it was simple enough.
Both Federated Tool and Canuck Tool seem to put the Dewalt Bandfile on sale for $199 on weekends. Don't ask me why it's a weekend thing - it seems odd. Nevertheless, that's a great price. It's like $379 MSRP.
I went to the KMS Tools 1-day dewalt event in Red Deer on Friday. This information is of no practical use since the sale is over and I think Red Deer was pretty much the last one for the season.
Nevertheless, I was curious beforehand what the prices actually were. They advertise the giveaway promotions on the website and tease some of the flyer deals - but you have to go to the store on the sale day to see what the offers are.
Plus, the sale is quite popular. As-in, they ran out of free batteries in the first half hour. So if you're trying to evaluate the deals and still get a battery - you must think fast.
I thought it might be helpful of I posted the flyer so you can decide if it's worth the visit next time.

Thanks for the heads up on these. Very tempting! I also can't decide if I want the 3/8" drive or the 1/2" drive. The 3/8" would compliment my M12 stubby quite well, but the 1/2" might be a better fit for my M18 Mid-Torque.
Astro has a better set range with no skips and it looks like KMS carries those. I may keep an eye out for a sale there.
Once again, this thread costs me more $$$$!

That too often happens on a good deal, only saw them yesterday while looking for something else. I try to cover the "clearance" and "surplus" sections regularly, you never know what's in there, but does take some time.

My brother had a Husq from CanTire. He looked at it, figures the box store models weren’t the same as the dealer models, and took it back. I think it would have been a good saw, but he figured he could do better.
He bought a Stihl from a John Deere dealer. It was a promo and not much more than the box store saw. He has been very very happy with it.
If you need it and use it a fair bit, I’d look for that sort of thing in Stihl or Husq dealer promos. If you’re a very casual user, I suspect if you wait another recon saw will pop up at PAL at some point. Maybe Husq. Maybe an electric Makita. Hard to say how much patience will be needed.

anyone else having problems with the new Prince Albert website?
always sketchy when any website says we upgraded and you have to reset your passwords (because we don't have them anymore)
concerning that I get invited to reset my password everytime I log in but if I just wait a bit it ends up logging in to my account and sending me a link to reset it even if I dont click it.
cart gets deleted after minimal inactivity. I currently can't place an order. their phone cs is completely useless: "yeah some people seem to be having some issues anything else today?"

Yes, it's operating oddly.
I've noticed that after I log in though, if I just wait it will first take me to the "reset your password page", then redirect me to the main page. As-in, I don't need to reset, just wait for it to finish its cycle. I'm not getting an email like you are though. Hopefully that's all a temporary bug based on the new security requirements.
I also hate the new cart timer. I often spot something I would buy, but I'm not going to actually place an order until I get over the free shipping threshold.
