The past two days have been crazy for me. I have had over 60 contacts in 2 days with it being EMS week. I have to have a minimum of 20 per week. When I finally sit down to chart all these, its gonna take forever. Also a very happy EMS week to all who serve in EMS Fire/EMS is an unglorified, thankless job so many days, and we go from bs calls to working your asses off to save a person. Sometimes successful and sometimes not. Free lunches from the hospital are never gonna make up for the continous sacrifice, but know there are people who truly appreciate all you do, and I cpunt myself as lucky to have a job where I can serve EMS in a way that actually helps solve issues and make a small attempt to make things better. So all that to say, Happy EMS week! Pound some coffee, kick on the wee woos ,and go save some lives
My son woke us up early this morning to celebrate his 11th birthday, and after giving him his presents he had asked for ( a rice cooker and a sushi kit
) I checked my phone and saw multiple Whatsapp messages. Whats app is what the manufacturer of my topper uses to communicate with, and they told me my setup was complete! Great news for me. They sent over several videos and pics of the completed tent and topper.
The last one was a pic asking where I wanted my vent fan. I asked for it to be placed in the forward position instead of to the rear. This is getting really exciting for me and it also puts the pressure on me to get my truck wrap handled. It wont be here in time for my big canoe trip in June, but I would anticipate a delivery by mid July.
We had my sons birthday party this evening with 12 kids running around inside since it rained all day long. Forecast is for rain all weekend long which is par for the course for Memorial day weekend here. Every year we have poor weather for this weekend. We will try and get out but probably wont venture too far out.
I lost my freebie spot at the marina as the guy who let me use his slip was putting his boat back in this morning. I moved it to another slip, but after this weekend it starts costing me. I have had a lot of difficulty finding a pontoon trailer, this is a problem I did not expect to have. They are either trash or significantly overpriced. I'm about as excited for you to get the topper/tent/camper setup as well. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Might have to order one for next season for the Tundra.
Thanks Marc! I am looking forward to it. Much like you and your Tundra refresh, my old Ford is getting prettied up here. I have no plans to ever sell this truck, so I figured I might as well make it my own. Once I get the wrap done and my topper on it, I am planning some love for the front bumper and a front hitch to go behind it. With this monstrous truck being 2wd and prone to getting stuck, I want to make sure I can get un stuck if it happens. A few years ago I dropped a tire off my parents gravel driveway into the grass and had to pull it out with my parents truck.

We found a trailer that stated it was for a 24ft pontoon, other side of town from me. We loaded up in the rain and took off to go see it. " good tires" i claimed. The tires were dry rotted but had good tread. I rolled the dice on it and bought it as trailers are slim pickings around here. We made it about 7 miles and stopped at a Harbor freight to grab some sanding discs. When we came back out the passenger side front tire was flat. We went back inside and luckily they stock a 13 in wheel and tire combo. I picked one up along with a 4 way and we headed back out to handle it.
I put the boy to work and after breaking the lugnuts loose I grabbed some river rocks out of the landscaping and drove the rear wheel up onto them to lift the flat front tire off the ground. Once he got the new lugnuts tight we backed it off and tightened them with the wheel on the ground. After we got back home we pressure washed the trailer and were prepping to hit it all with s coat of POR15 until I found out my can of paint was solid. We decided instead to grab matching tires and brought those home.

I am going to grab some turf from my buddy and do the bunks and hit it with some paint. With all of that done and some new wheels and tires on it, it will be good to go. I will keep it until I find a deal on a better trailer, but for now I need it to get my boat out of the water and here to the house for repairs.

Unfortunately I overpaid, plus a new set of wheels and tires. Instead of carpeting the bunk boards, I have access to a ton of synthetic turf which I can get for free from my landscape buddy. A quick coat of paint and I should be good to go. The lights all work, so I was happy to see that, but the wiring is pieced together poorly. I will redo it too at some point.

I wont go that far for sure. I will probably have 2200 in it after paint. Its still better than 4k for a new one,Last night we got another can of POR 15 and got after it on the trailer. As you know POR 15 stains your skin and the boy and I looked like we have been coal mining after we got done painting the trailer. We got a bit more than half of it done. I have another can enroute and we will finish up tonight. 
since we don't have paint intil leter today, my son got me up early and we hit the lake for some early morning fishing. 
he snagged a nice catfish and then I got one too
then I hauled in this monster! 
Productive day on the water hoping we can head back out with the fam for some memorial day fun on the water.

At that size, Im lucky he didnt pull me off the boat!
We got the rest of the trailer finished with paint this afternoon. My son got sloppy and even with 2 drop cloths under us he got a ton on the floor. Its done except the axles and they need hit with a needle scaler or a flap wheel or something. 
Im not thrilled he got paint on the floor, but it peeled off the floor in other spots so I have hopes it will come up. I need to pickup the turf and cover the bunks tomorrow and I will be good to use it after that.

Meh...it's a shop floor, there are far worse things that could happen to it. Hell, I've got tons of overspray, resin drips, burnout marks, etc on mine 
Not the end of the world by any means. I dont eat off of it so it doesnt really matter, I just went thru extra effort to keep it contained and still made a mess. I found a wire wheel on an angle grinder will remove those paint stain easily. Then you could touch up the area with sealant if you have some left over.

Hope they clean up for you if you try, there are POR stains on my dad's shop floor from me working on my truck 20+ years ago
I scraped a few spots on the floor, its coming up but may need sealer touched up afterwards.
I picked up a ton of turf scraps from my landscape buddy and got after it on the trailer bunks. The end result is mediocre at best. This stuff is really hard to pull around the bunks. It will however be perfectly fine for a pontoon trailer. I used my buddies carpet cutter and dewalt stapler to install it.
The cord had been cut a million times on this thing so I cut the end off an extension cord and rewired the tool for him.
I received my trailer wiring kit today and I got it pulled thru the tongue already. I then went ahead and wrapped and sleeved the wire from the plug back to the tongue.
I stopped working on the wiring when I got a text from a guy who I service his work trucks. He also bought my first gen tundra several years ago. He called and wanted to make an offer on my acty. He knew about the water hester issues a month or two ago and offered a new tankless and install plus 5k. I talked him thru all mine and he came and paid cash for it after walking him thru some common pitfalls of importing one.
super sad to see it go, its been an amazing vehicle for the past 2 years. The postive side is that I got a message that my camper is beong crated today and that my final payment is due Monday. Perfect timing if you ask me. This also frees up some cash to purchase new boat flooring and pontoon fencing to modernize it. Kicking off the summer in super busy fashion!

I love POR15 as much or more than the next guy, so I fully understand the two of you being splotched and spotted for the next week or so lol. Good job on the trailer!
The trailer wiring got completed yesterday and late in the evening we made a trip to pull the boat out. The boat was hanging off the back of the trailer by a foot or so , but was hard against the bow stop. I went ahead and brought it home, and parked in the yard for the night. 
I have plenty of room to move the bow stop and see about getting the boat further forward to help the tongue weight. Tonight after mowing the grass, I grabbed my impact and moved the bow stop. It got dark on me as I finished up, but you can see how much further forward I will be able to move it.
My last mod may be to cut that angled piece down and cap it off. No reason it should stick out that far.

I agree, seems a little large for what it does. Don't forget to topcoat that paintjob too.
I had a quick project dropped off tonight to get ready for our trip next week. Our canoe trailer had a broken weld that we had to hold together with ratchet straps after our trip last year.
I moved the upright to the side to grind down the base first. With the base nice and level, I used a piece of tube as a sleeve and cut it on my portaband to better match the profile.
After a couple of test fits and a few more cuts it fit pretty wellso I slid it over the upright and got it all in place.
I havent welded in over a year, and my welds arent great looking because I just dont do it enough, but I felt pretty good about the penetration and how they turned out especially on the top of the sleeve.
however after burning it it I stepped back and looked at it and realized that I forgot to make sure it was level vertically, so its a bit off from the front.
I added a 1x1 as a brace 
But after looking at it I think it sticks out way too far. I am going to cut it off and redo it tonight.
I got the welding done, and went and put a battery in a lexus for a guy who buys **** cars and then is surprised when something fails. After I got back home and got to bed, I got my final invoice for my truck topper/ RTT so it should be ready to ship out any day now. There are several sites where you can put in your shipment or cargo ship name and check in on where it is in the world, so once it gets loaded onto a ship I will be checking that out for updates.

Weld looks great to me!
After finishing up the trailer, another one of my crew called and came by and grabbed it while I was at work yesterday. That opened up my boat bay while the Moomba is having a couple of gelcoat repairs done. I went ahead last night and hooked the pontoon up to the truck and backed it into the shop. Damn is does not fit well. 
With it hanging off the trailer like it is I have almost no tongue weight. I need to scoot it forward and that will help tremendously. I have a buyer for my wake boat and a water test scheduled for Saturday. Hes actually a radiologist who reads and does IR for my hospital so I think that helped him have a bit more confidence in the transaction. He found my boat on boat trader, I just recognized his name from radiology reads when I was in the ER. Apparently I am good at selling boats to docs I work with because thats where the prior boat went as well. Shop is massively overdue for a cleanup and clearing of junk. I may pickup another kayak lift and get the kids bikes up like mine to make more floor space. As soon as my RTT gets here I can move all my truck gear stacked behing the boat back into my truck bed which will clear a good bit of space too. Trailer wheels need new tires and sold which makes space on floor, jeep needs to be completed desperately. Problem is I keep saying yes to all these jobs that come thru, gotta find a balance one of these days.......

Busy day yesterday that started with no trailer lights on the wake boat trailer and brakes locking up in reverse. Those are both big problems since I had a water test scheduled for 2 yesterday afternoon. I decided to replace the trailer plug on both the truck and on my trailer. Truck side because I wanted a 4 pin/ 7 pin combo setup and trailer side because it was loose and sloppy. I peeled all the failing insulation off and cit the wiring way back. 
i started with new wire loom and then usedy ferrule crimpers to put a small ferrule on each wire before clamping it in the new connector end. With it assembled and testing I had no marker lights until I hit the passenger side turn signal. A quick swap of those 2 wires and all is right. After a thorough wrapping with electrical tape and cleanup, I found I still cant backup with out the brakes applying. I have a lockout key I can place in the trailer, but that stops surge brakes from working at all. There is supposed to be a lockout solenoid that allows you to backup when reverse is engaged, but I need to fond it and test it out.i also noticed there was not a wire going to the center terminal on my 7 pin connector which is for back up lights. That makes me wonder where the power comes from for that solenoid of there isnt anything going to that pin.
I took the boat to the lake and had to put it in the water by myself. I havent launched this boat by myself ever so it was a bit more work than I was used to but I got it done.
The interested family came put and put it thru its paces on the water and seemed to really like it. Hoping he can get his bank in line and we can get the deal done before I leave town on Thursday. Im not gonna lie, I hate to let this thing go, but the massive decrease in stress of trying to keep it pristine is totally worth it.

Check your fuse block in your Ford. My Ford will blow a fuse that then doesn’t allow my boat trailer to back up also. Common thing, boat shop guy told me about it!
Found it! So I started with checking fuse and it was good. I found the solenoid wiring on the trailer and the janky el cheapo **** connectors they used to crimp the wiring together. I cut those out and tested continuity across the solenoid which was good.
Here was where I started paying attention to the colors. Knowing that white was ground at the trailer plug I checked continuity to ground and it was good. I went back to the plug and remembered that I didnt have a wire going to the center reverse pin. I moved the blue wire to the center pin and then voltage on the blue wire when put in reverse! I had mistaken the blue wire for the brake wire and put it to the trailer brake pin in the connector. The original connector was all molded as one piece so I couldnt verify what wire went where and went off a diagram online and matched colors when I replaced the connector.
I went ahead and installed my new 4/ 7pin setup on the truck, repaired the wires I cut with heat shrink **** connectors
and finished up the job. I talked my son through how I verified the problem and how I found the cause and corrected it. We finished with a test in the driveway and backing up the driveway went perfect just like it should. My seat covers also arrived today so I started installing them. 
will be nice to get the interior back to one color. My only concern is the cupholder setup I just got for my console might interfere with the center console cover. I may skip on covering it because I love having a decent cupholder after years of spilling **** from the crappy pull out cupholders in the dash.One of the best parts of selling the boat is clearing out the mountains of stuff that go with it. I will get to empty out a good portion of my loft with all the accessories that are boat related. The shop is a mess with the pontoon in there, no space to move around. Once I get back from my trip disassembly starts on that boat.
Took the boy fishing Sunday evening and he hooked into a good sized catfish again with his new rod.
He wont stop asking to go so hopefully this is good motivation to keep his grades up and get his chores done at home

Its definitely not as easy to follow as a UPS shipment and the tracking site she sent me is in Chinese, which I am unfortunately not fluent in reading ...... or speaking. 
The excitement of this thing getting here has me all jacked up. Im bummed it wasnt here in time for my trip tomorrow, but I will make the best of it. Lessons learned from last year are that blue tarps arent waterproof. I am getting to use my new batwing awning I purchased last year and have 2 alternate tarps that I know are water proof that can go under it. I hate that I wont be using my truck boxes I built last year either since its looking like a good chance of rain this ccoming weekend, and they arent built to get wet. I am hoping to finalize the boat deal today, still need to get the yard mowed, haul my old bench seat off to the dump, and pick up all my food and stuff for the weekend at the store. Not to mention I have meetings at my furthest hospital from me today. Better get after it!

Score of the day, I have been trying to work a deal with this guy since last year to pick up this machine. 
I had looked at buying scales and such but I wanted a better way to recover it all so I grabbed this machine from a buddy who closed his shop. Need to grab a new tank of r 134a and give it a good wipedown. Machine is 2 years old, so I am ordering a drier filter and doing all the maintenance on it as well.
My canoe trip was last weekend and all went well. We all met up at my house and drove down from there to our first stop at Benton's bacon. I grabbed a massive ribeye, prosciutto style country ham and a block of Sweetwater valley farms cheese. I love seeing all the meat hanging inside this place.
After loading up on meat, we headed towards Reliance ,TN. There is a gravel road that runs down the opposite side of the highway we took this year which was a cool route. It dropped in about 3 miles above my buddies cabin where we stay the first night. I got all setup and dried in and no rain the first night
I brought some plastic 1/2 in EMT conduit to make hoops to keep tarp from collapsing under rain if it hit. Luckily I only needed one so I had a place to hang my fan. Fished the next morning while the river was down and caught a nice trout on my second cast. The rest of the guys were hunting river treasures for the MOFO ( museum of found objects) at my buddies cabin. They found a ton of glass and other random items. As I wrapped up fishing I saw something yellow in the water and pulled this out.
We all had a theory about how this qpuld have ended up in the river until the neighbor stopped by. He said a guy was staying with him and kept smoking in his house so he took this ashtray and sent it out into the river with a mighty toss. That definitely rubbed me the wrong way as I am not into littering...
After we broke camp and departed the cabin we hit Witt creek trail again which has been our cruise for the last 2 years. The sky let loose on us this year though as we left the asphalt and had me super concerned as my beast of a truck is 2wd. I made all the creek crossings and even found a dog
poor guy was starving. I fed him some steak fajitas and ham as it was the first thing I could get to and then loaded him up. We were in a rough area with no houses around so I figured he was probably dumped out here. He rode to the campground with us and once we got there he made some friends with some kids and spent the rest of the night running around playing and getting fed. My feet got tore up by some rocks so I spent my entire evening kicked back on my chair watching the fire. 
Saturday on the river was good, bit by tje end of the trip my elbow was oddly swollen from paddling, and my feet were even worse. I ended up taping them up with some gauze and spending another evening on my **** at the fire. Packing up Sunday morning went well andnthe rain hit as soon as I got in the truck. By the time I got home, rain had cleared and we had a decent afternoon until the next batch of storms hit.
Finally this was todays sad farewell.
My boat took off behind the new owners truck. Wife and I are bummed but we also got a load of new stuff to install on the pontoon boat to make it our own. So trying to turn a sad goodbye into a new opportunity.
I had looked at buying scales and such but I wanted a better way to recover it all so I grabbed this machine from a buddy who closed his shop. Need to grab a new tank of r 134a and give it a good wipedown. Machine is 2 years old, so I am ordering a drier filter and doing all the maintenance on it as well.
My canoe trip was last weekend and all went well. We all met up at my house and drove down from there to our first stop at Benton's bacon. I grabbed a massive ribeye, prosciutto style country ham and a block of Sweetwater valley farms cheese. I love seeing all the meat hanging inside this place.
After loading up on meat, we headed towards Reliance ,TN. There is a gravel road that runs down the opposite side of the highway we took this year which was a cool route. It dropped in about 3 miles above my buddies cabin where we stay the first night. I got all setup and dried in and no rain the first night
I brought some plastic 1/2 in EMT conduit to make hoops to keep tarp from collapsing under rain if it hit. Luckily I only needed one so I had a place to hang my fan. Fished the next morning while the river was down and caught a nice trout on my second cast. The rest of the guys were hunting river treasures for the MOFO ( museum of found objects) at my buddies cabin. They found a ton of glass and other random items. As I wrapped up fishing I saw something yellow in the water and pulled this out.
We all had a theory about how this qpuld have ended up in the river until the neighbor stopped by. He said a guy was staying with him and kept smoking in his house so he took this ashtray and sent it out into the river with a mighty toss. That definitely rubbed me the wrong way as I am not into littering...
After we broke camp and departed the cabin we hit Witt creek trail again which has been our cruise for the last 2 years. The sky let loose on us this year though as we left the asphalt and had me super concerned as my beast of a truck is 2wd. I made all the creek crossings and even found a dog
poor guy was starving. I fed him some steak fajitas and ham as it was the first thing I could get to and then loaded him up. We were in a rough area with no houses around so I figured he was probably dumped out here. He rode to the campground with us and once we got there he made some friends with some kids and spent the rest of the night running around playing and getting fed. Looks like a fun trip, too bad the roof top tent wasn't a little earlier, would have been a great inaugural trip.
Nice score on the Robinair recovery system. That is exactly like the one I use at my buddy's shop. Would love to have one, someday. Just hard to justify a new one right now.
For me seeing assets that I have dumped my heart and soul into leave as someone else's asset is a mixed bag of emotions. I'm sure you can relate.

I was sent a tracking app by my contact and once it updated with a cargo ship name I put that into another freight tracker. My pickup date has been pushed back a couple of days,but it will be landing in Savannah GA at same approximate date per the tracker. Its amazing to see how many stops these ships make picking up and dropping off cargo locally before they head across the big water to us.
Mike the best part of the ac machine deal hasnt been picked up yet. It was a huge score bordering on a "You **** " deal to me. Hopefully I can land it at the house this weekend.
This was a new one for me tonight.
This was a 2011 Kia that had some wild looking hot spots in the cylinders. Ive never seen anything like this. It loses power after a couple of minutes of driving, to where it wont hardly rev over 3k rpms. Had 150 psi of compression, but was also leaking coolant pretty bad, and it has right at 300k. It was boiling over inside the radiator when I got it back to the house. Almost felt like a stopped up cat, but I havent pulled an 02 sensor yet to see if that improves how it runs.

Today was a super productive day. Jeff came over this morning and we got after it on the pontoon boat
We got the first part of the fence and benches off in about 30 minutes and cut the carpet and rolled it up and tossed it.
The back half took a bit longer to get apart due to the fuel tank and the rear trim. Once we got it apart, I brought a section of fence inside to begin working on getting the sheet metal out.
I used a pry bar to open up the channel the metal sits in, and after a lot of tapping, we got it out.
I went over all the corners and spots where the screws secured the metal to the fence with a roloc disc to smooth them out. I pulled a measurement off the original metal and laid out the new metal
It has some waves in it, but once I cut it and pulled the plastic off it looked a lot better. It took 2 of us to get it into the fence. The first piece got a crease in it which is super frustrating, so I am thinking it might get pulled back out and used for smaller pieces on the doors. I am on the fence about whether or not I replace the plywood decking, as its another 700 dollars or so for wood. Gonna sit on it for tonight and decide in the morning.
