Some real life stuff done this week.

Heat was very high and of course I chose to cut hedges.

I agreed to cutting the neighbours hedges for a fee after they asked me three or four times, offering to pay every time. I last cut them back hard last year for them, free of charge because I thought they needed some help. They want the big garden but are clearly not gardeners and let it all get away from them, overwhelming them.

So on Tuesday I cut Mickey, my and next doors front hedges and cleared it all. On Wednesday I took an hour just to clear toys, furniture, tools, timber, a pile of soil and junk for a perimeter of about 600mm so I could walk, cut and clear up.

Then I started cutting. Most of the hedge is being kept at 1.8 to 2.0 meter or six foot plus.

By the time I was done cutting and cleaning, and a lot of it took two or more passes in order to get it shaped and ready for filling out, it was 3.30pm and I was pretty knackered, being unfit and overweight.

On Thursday I tackled my garden as well as outside behind the workshop.

I was happy to be done with it.

Yesterday I cleared some stuff around the garage and carport to make space to be able to crawl around under the Skoda when I get started.

Today……

Back to the grind and cut and welding and swearing (maybe no swearing)?

I'm worn out just watching.....:)

I just mowed my lawn quickly before I get started on the Cube.

I am trying to find any excuse not to start.

There is so much to do.

And the more I look…… 🍿🍿🍿🍿👺 😱 😡 🤡😳🎶💩⚫🔚

But Spartacus……

And cut grass is therapeutic to my soul.

The green scheme looks classy.

I like Green

green, no, orange, no no no, green, wait no, oldsmobile scheme, yes, that's it, hang on that should stay unique as a statement on it's own so orange...................................................no, green......ummm
can you tell I can be indecisive but I think I've narrowed it down to green or orange

I was going to create a blue scheme

I do like the green but then I am partial to green.

LOL.

A vote for Orange as it’s already an Orange truck…but honestly your mate will tell you what colour he likes 👍🏻

I would imagine purple and green, knowing him.

👍

Green is the Colour

😉

ok, so I've thought about this whilst staring out across the airfield.............
we have a Lightning parked up on the far side, last one of seven, that's painted with different markings on each side so green one side and orange the other  although what the crossover in the middle will look like is any bodies guess

no this is not a serious proposition

Works well in some applications.

Quick bootfair report before I head out.

Struck gold for @CraigRK and his random VW cars collection today. Also a few random ones for me.

Prices of Hotwheels have gone up this year.
Mostly £1.00 each but some 50p and even 3/£1.00

Real time update insert.

I wear surround safety glasses under my welding mask.

But today I didn’t wear the mask due to space constraints.

And like we know…… Things happen.

So welding upside down under a car, had much splatter in hair, but also one bead made it into my eyelid and frizzled some eyelashes away.

Be careful.

My mother had a saying when we were kids doing kid stuff- eg sword fighting with sticks, throwing stones at each other, and the popular Aussie pastime of shooting arrows vertically up in the air and looking up to watch them come back down to earth.
"its all fun and games until someone loses an eye"
I am having some serious PTSD flashbacks here...
So, given the absence of appropriate admonishment so far in these replies, I will reluctantly step up to the task :
"Naughty boy Rian, you are a very naughty boy. What on earth were you thinking ? I hope you have learned your lesson from this. Your father will be home soon..."
:yikes: but glad you are OK !

I posted this very specifically as a warning to all of us.

Of course I will do it again.

But only in confined spaces.

Usually I wear a mask and safety glasses.

Small update

Being as it was a painting and decoration guys van before, the bed-liner was pretty grubby, even after pressure washing.

I had also removed it in order to get to the loadbed for cleaning and repairing.

So I decided to give it a few coats of matt black on the hottest day of the year.

VIDEO.

PICTURES BEFORE AND AFTER.

I don’t believe everything that I read on the internet 😀, but this fellow is adamantly swearing that he is your father, and I must admit I do see a family resemblance!😀.

But, these other folks are also claiming kinship with you. 😀

Ps the animated gif image takes a couple seconds to load! Patience my son 😀!

Then they haven’t been paying attention

I have a friend (acquaintance) who is from Jaguar/LandRover management.

“Ohhh a car guy” I hear some say.

He is a great resource and finder outer of things.

But then asks me why I don’t weld a single hole in the floor from the inside.

Do I really need to explain this to him and many others, or do I just walk away and mumble something unintelligible inside my mouth and under my breath.

Because if I explained it, their feelings would be hurt.

P-Slot wheels

Opinions?

14” wheels.

In Gold (of course) or maybe silver or white even??

.
Rian
If this is a rhetorical question and you have set your heart on the Gold color, then obviously the answer is Gold!

Having said this, IMHO, a white van with gold wheels is like a rapper with 4 gold front teeth 😀, and personally, I am neither into that kind of bling nor rap “music”. So, silver would be my choice 😀.

As always, it is your car, your color!

This…..
Silver. Do you have the centre caps too? From a 1983 Mk2 Golf gti.

No they don’t have them.

I have not bought them.

Yet 😉

Another thought idea, which will be happening…..

Wheel arch extensions.

Remember the mock up Michael and I did the day the Cube was delivered??

So a few designs have come along, thanks to Bryan for all of the Grizz’s Flip Flop Speed Shop artwork.

I tried to coax ChatGPT into adding these Pirelli wheels in gold, onto the van and failed.

But it did three other examples.

Right now I have no intention of going all out fake rally support vehicle.

But AI certainly makes my own creative endeavours look quite pale in comparison.

No work done yesterday due to rain.

Today, we hope.
