Need Advice On Heavy Duty Millers Falls Drill

My dad is 84 and is cleaning out his garage and has this heavy duty drill that he wants to sell.

He got it decades ago from someone.

Can any of you tell me who it was originally marketed for so we can list it for sale?

It's 220 VAC with a gear reduction and I'm guessing plumbers may have used it to drill large holes in floor joists.

If any of you have one, you'll see that the handle has been repaired. I had this done about 20 years ago so dad could hang the drill on the wall.

Yes, it still works just fine. The 220 VAC makes it a little inconvenient, though.

Oh I'd be afraid of that one.
I have one from my dad not 220 though it is 110V.
It is not grounded, 110 shock is survivable.
When my dad was younger he was using it to drill a hole in a beam overhead in a barn. That day it had rained and it was wet. He got hit with 110 before he finished the hole. So he asked my uncle; his brother who is taller to finish it. "I am too short" you are taller can you finish it?
he got hit immediately when he pulled the trigger. The hole did not get finished until it dried out.

That's a funny story and I'm glad no one got (seriously) hurt. Good point on not being grounded...maybe that's enough reason to get rid of it. I looked at some of the online catalogs on the above link provided by RTM and it looks like back in the day one could buy a drill press frame to make a drill press out of it. Pretty cool.
