Never happened before, but not sayin' it couldn't have.

This happens with our heater routinely only with a 40 G gas and when we set it for showering it goes from borderline scalding to "who just used the hot water this is freezing) once you have a comfortable mix...

But if its not scalding and is trying to heat, its comfortable hot all the way...

Your hands can take the heat a lot better than the rest of your body...

Alright gents, we’ve been doing this a while and we’re through with our obligation. These past few weekends and finally this weekend, we’ve finalized our portion of the assignment - remove & repair all rust and missing sheet metal, reassemble for delivery to frame shop & our friend at the body/paint shop.

With all of the bed finally assembled and welded, it was flipped, prepped for paint and shot with a couple coats of Epoxy primer on both the topside and bottom. IMG_4586.jpeg

Motorcycle lift came in handy as a moving station several times through the build.

Hate painting outside.

IMG_5771.jpeg

We didn’t focus much on getting all of the imperfections our of the bed floor for several reasons - it being a trailer & getting several coats of rhinoliner will suffice.

IMG_4602.jpeg

Seam sealer to apply over the fresh epoxy. 3M strip caulk for the odd pockets and it was used OEM.

IMG_4603.jpeg

Hell of a mess later.

Then 2Pack Rhinoliner applied.

IMG_4605.jpeg

Got a delivery in the post - perfect timing before heading to the frame / suspension shop.

IMG_4612.jpeg

Topside seam sealed, scuffed and ready for additional epoxy coats. You’ll have to ignore the wiggle in the front the bed, the front panel being fabricated & cross members fix that.

Additional epoxy coats - prepping for loading.

Alright boys - this is the end of the line. Loaded up the box into the trailer and pushed it out. Next time it’s back here, it’ll be rolling on its own.

It still may not look like much, but my friend told me to take care of all the rust and metal work, and he’d handle the rest, and if he doesn’t like something he’ll address it. Sounds good to me. Looking forward to seeing it back soon - we’re in at the frame shop tomorrow and next at body / paint.

Got out in the workshop for a short while Saturday after a 2 week 'break' due to severe case of gout in an ankle. Power window on drivers side of my '94 F350 quit working about the same time so planned to replace the motor. When I got the motor out it looked and testing confirmed no problem. Guess something was jammed so cleaned and lubed the moving parts and reassembled. Works fine.
I then discovered(accidently) the power door locks weren't working. Upon further investigation the lock function doesn't work with either the door switch or the key fob. However, the passenger door switch and key fob will unlock if I manually lock the doors but the drivers switch doesn't work at all. Confirmed the switch is good so will spend some time today checking fuse and testing wiring.
Did I mention I don't like electrical problems on cars? ;)

Took the 1/4" SO ratchet (a GM 70 S - gov issue and not warrantied, and no kits available) apart I got today at an ES and cleaned it. Then SuperLubed it. You can see what came out when I opened it - it was completely dry... I also made another switch arm similar to the one I made for a similar 3/8 Gov issue ratchet. Works great and is smooth as silk:

SO-GM-70-S-fixed.jpg

I really like the "feel" of that 3/8 though, would like to find a 1/4 like it.

Did a clean and Lube on my other 1/4" SO GM 70 S and the GM 70 M as well yesterday

It is actually haha. I had bought a tube of Permatex too but already had some of this so instead of opening the new one I saved it and used this. My old Permatex I had to toss because it was dried out and didn’t want to come out of the tube once I cleared the top off.
If it is hard at the top but still viable further down the tube, I start poking holes and using what I can until it is gone or hardened.

Repositioned the AMC 360 on my 40-year-old engine stand. The bolts on the head/bracket got loose and it got all wonky on me so I hooked it up to my cherry picker, lifted it up, and got everything back in place.

Got my metal cabinet situation fixed. Several months ago, I bought a pair of the $400 HF 48" x 72" metal cabinets, but they're weak sauce; shelves can't handle much weight. I'm going to keep them, but they're only going to hold lighter stuff. For my new ones, I went with Durham cabinets - 84" x 36" x 24" - from Zoro. They cost about 3x as much as the HF cabinets, but they hold 1,000 lbs per shelf. Wasn't a lot of fun getting them off the pallets and into the back corner of the shop, but I managed.

IMG_6389.JPG

Moved the 72 Javelin race car out of the shop and into my dozer storage unit across the parking lot. Dozer got moved into the shop for next weekend's activities - changing fluids and filters and a few other tasks.

Hopefully the dozer tracks don’t scuff up the concrete too bad and the landlord gets pissed.

I fixed my vise.
The knobs on the ends of the handle were loose so I put a spot of weld on both to keep them in place. I also removed the screw and greased the threads.
The rest of the day I mostly just farted around with my 90 YO pal Kenny.
He's a lot smarter than me and supervised.
I love Kenny and hanging out with him makes for the best of days...

Well....

Last week, i got an email from someone claiming to be a rep for Akaso, a maker of low-cost action cameras, after posting a negative review on amazon.

55315137503_1d2776f40e_o.jpg

I opted for the new camera, as it's three times the price of the one I have.

Then I realized it seemed an awful lot like a scam. For one thing, the email address wasn't Akaso, but a gmail. Oops--but the only info they got was my mailing address.

Today I got a shipping notice from USPS! Tracking # and all. Should be here Wednesday... or maybe Friday....

I guess it sometimes pays to be a little too trusting.

I also reloaded the firmware for my old camera, and it seems to be working now.

Washed the blue dye off my new tires:

These should give me much better grip on the way to the mall. How much should I air down for parking lot speed bumps?

You can air down to 12 psi for the speed bumps, but if you want to step up your speed bump game, get some beadlocks so you can drop down to 3 psi...

Chased an issue on the boat trailer. Surge brakes locking up when in reverse, inspected the solenoid that locks it out, rewired it to eliminate the quick splice that was there, found the blown fuse on the truck, replaced it, blew another fuse. Inspected the blue/ back up light circuit....found the problem. 100% self inflicted error. Access is pretty challenging, inside the frame between the tandem axles. I'll fix it this evening after work.

Sure looks like you found the culprit.
Your picture title is fantastic. ;)

Not much today stripped 3 zebcos of the old monofilament, checked the workings. Repaired a broken rod tip with a new replacement eye. Reassembled everything, then hunted my rolls of monofilament to refill the reel spools.
Have you tried braid on the Zebcos? On open face spinners braid is a common thing to avoid twisting tangles but I've never seen it used on closed faced. Just curious.

Pinched a wire between the transmission and motor on a car once. Once! lol

Around here, two storage units that big would equal a shop payment.
