I'm surprised we don't see those around. Combined with a plastic coated dead blow hammer, you'd have a lot of potential tasks covered.

This hammer is similar to the ePay example, but with no rivets through the handle.

I can't make out what's stamped into the side, but it appears to end in ???GLAND

One of the faces is marked PROTO and the other LIXI 2-1/2 Prov. R.I. U.S.A.

This one has done a lot of work.

I hired a kid off the reservation in 2012 to run the tires in the shop. He couldn't get a tire off on a truck so we gave him a 8 lb shot filled hammer and said "give it a shot under the truck and it'll come off. Laying on his side, he took a swing, it bounced into his face and broke his nose. He went to the clinic on the reservation and never came back. It bounced for sure.

or possibly "Rock Island" or "Rhode Island" ?

I think you're right. Ends in "SLAND", as in ISLAND. I just looked up LIXIE hammers and they're still made. Founded by Angelo Lixie in 1948. They're surprisingly expensive. The 2-1/2" model is $240!
