By a guy in sandals, without safety glasses or ear protection. You can put a new seal in, but if the bore for the rod was "machined" with a dull drill in a dirt floor hut, a new seal won't do much for long.
Thanks. I figured as much. I thought someone may have had to replace an O Ring and could recommend a replacement.I would be surprised if a seal kit existed for that - generally, low end hydraulics are considered expendable. Take it apart and measure whatever seal is in there and look for a replacement.
It has to be about twelve years old. It started leaking a few months after I got it and used it maybe three times. I didn't want to be bothered with it, then I just read that all I had to do was take the cotter pins out the pump handle and there was a piston in there with O Rings. I thought I had to remove the base nut which would not budge ( I just found out they are tightened down extremely tight) Not having to remove the base nut gave me a renewed interest. I have a universal O Ring kit. I'll see if I can make one work. How old is it? My 20t on the press leaks there too, but not enough to worry about, and hydraulic fluid is cheap.
