Ah HA!

It is not closed all the way.

So perhaps this door is a tiny bit taller than the old one, but it wouldn't take much extra height at all to cause this problem becasue the drywall was cut way too close to the door opening. I'm sure that's where all that damage came from in the first place. Drywall hung, door opened, oops...

So I'm willing to blame whoever cobbled these walls together instead of the guy who measured for the door. My next goal is to cut this dry wall back about a half inch or so. Maybe then the door will close a little more and I won't have to bring them back afterall.
Beyond that, I don't have many more immidiate to-dos in the garage. I need to get moving on my projects IN the garage and getting everything cleaned up. If you have any cool ideas for extension ladder storage though I'd like to see it! As of now, I'm thinking about hanging it from the basement cieling but getting it in and out of the basement is not ideal. Garage is a better spot.
