You are assuming that management wanted that persons knowledge passed down, that he was better than the person who trained you as far as business needs, that they "waited to long" as opposed to wanting to be rid of the taint of the former guy.
I did not assume. I worked there for four years, and I talked to and worked with nearly every person in the plant.
Everybody liked the old guy, he’d been there almost from the beginning, and he did his job very well, but he was retirement age and wanted to visit his family more.

As for what I did in the garage, I fueled up the old chainsaw to make sure she works for me tomorrow. Need to clean up some branches the power company left after trimming my trees back from the power lines.
I was expecting the saw to need a carb clean as it hasn’t been run in two years, but a few pumps on the primer button and she fired right up. That’s what happens when you run it on Trufuel I guess.

Just outside the garage. Prepping to move equipment out of the shop. Loaded up the Ford 2000 tractor and took it to storage. Kudos to @Metallitubby as he mentioned and led me to purchase a Curt bluetooth trailer brake controller, which along the way today was installed on the 2025 Ridgeline and setup for the empty trailer and the trailer fully loaded. Not sure the controller is 100% dialed in but it did bring the trailer and truck to a safe stop. Offloaded and put trailer back in its place. The Ridgeline had a little squat to it with the tractor and trailer.

I replaced the rock hard rubber lower seal on the garage door of the contingency materials building. This one was a bit easier than the one on the shop because it was held in place by a removable extruded aluminum strip. This allowed it to be clamped in a vise for the wrestling match. I have stated before that I like to have items in the shop do more than one function if possible. This is an example with the pipe vise handle acting as a helping hand to support the part. The same vise can also be used for support if the vise on the opposite diagonal corner of the table is used. A bit of silicon spray and monkey screwing a football action was needed to get the piece into the track because the rubber was a flat piece that wraps into a bulbous shape with two edges to get into the track and progress down the groove simultaneously. Picked up a HF 4 foot LED with a sales coupon to add to the somewhat dark aisle in the contingency materials building this morning. I had previously been using a flashlight to pick out materials in that corner because the rack to the left blocks some of the light. Now I need to make up about a 2 foot extension to feed it juice from another light to eliminate the longer drop cord.IMG_1734.jpeg

Got the TV mounted.

I like watching tv, but mostly use my shop tv for watching youtube video and to multi screen display my camera system when I want to see what is going on outside when the dog perimeter patrol senses something that dares to move. There purposely are no windows in the shop as it is my fortress of solitude.

Don't forget to slip the nut on the line before you flare it.

Been there, done that, lesson learned...

Be sure to put the line nuts on after you’ve flared both ends the first time.
Ain’t my first rodeo with projects.

my list include….
-78 GMC K20 on 36s.
-71 Satellite with dual quad tunnel rammed 440 and pro stock hood scoop.
-67 Barracuda with 295s/28x10.5s
-67 Coronet 500 big tire car and a 440

one day I would love another street car, a 5.0 LX Fox body for Friday night at the track. 351 roller block sitting there ready for aluminum heads and a 393 stroker crank and 28x10.5…..couple bottles in the back. Always raced against them back in the day that I always wanted to have one.

Had trouble with achieving full erection on my 5 ton OTC floor jack so I topped off all three jacks at the shop with hydraulic oil and bled them all. Took me about 15 minutes of work to achieve full erection on all three! I feel like I’m 18 again!

Need to wrench on the dozer now but I think I’m going to smoke a cigarette first…

Gonna need to see some pics of that Satellite. The car that I most regret selling was my barn find 71 GTX, black on black, spoilers, air grabber, track pack 3.54 Dana, 4 speed, 440.

This will be the beginning of more projects - I just got this Ender 3, 3D printer from an estate sale I was at a week back an got it in low hours used condition with 2 near full PVA and PETG spools (all for $20!)

My son is excited as he has the Ender 3 Max Neo. (similar, larger stage) -his second 3D printer.

I still need to DL and manuals/SW for it (I assume) - as well as get some other 3D modeling SW as well

Took the seats out of my van and moved a few van-loads of stuff from the old garage to the new garage.

I wasn't looking forward to moving all my garage stuff again, seeing as how I just moved into this house almost exactly a year ago. But moving the stuff a couple-hundred feet from one garage to another isn't nearly as hard as it was moving across town.

If I can lighten my tool chests enough to roll them across the yard (the yard is rock-hard and dry at the moment), that will save a ton of time verses having to empty them completely and load them into the van. I rolled the air compressor and cherry picker across the yard and that went just fine, so hopefully that's how the rest will go, lol.

Spent a couple of hours under the Brick with it up on the lift at my buddy's shop, running wiring for my new trans temp gauge and removing the rest of the fiberglass rocker trim. It wasn't as nice as the last time I had it on the lift, as I added the roof rack basket since then. Not quite standing headroom under there, but much better than lying on my back on the concrete.

Wiring is run up to the dash now and I'm taking a beer break while I wait for the shade to reach the Brick. After starting the week in long Johns, it's 85F now and right sweaty. Supposed to get into triple-digits tomorrow and most of next week.

Being a "shade-tree mechanic" would be much nicer with a shade tree!

You ****.

There's no rocket science to it. Tinkercad is an online, free, CAD program. It'll generate the STL from your design. You can download Cura, Slic3r, or Orca as your slicer, to convert the STL into gcode to feed your Ender. You'll need a micro SD card to sneakernet the generated gcode from your PC to the Ender. Smaller, older SD cards are better when it comes to Ender 3s.

A week or so ago I made these for my shop:

1781403178122.png

They turned out useful, so I made a slightly fancier one for my desk at work:

Well, that's been popular, and my coworkers are asking for their own. So today I made six more:

My sander belt broke before I could finish the final sanding on some of them, but that and a little teak oil are all that remains to do.

since you brought it up...assuming. looks like you are doing a lot of that in the posts. I am staying 2 days a week for a variety of reasons. One is to keep up on needed repairs while they finally start the hiring process. As I am the only person doing my job others have no idea what I do or procedures to follow. There is more back story to this but it is a long story. I have left jobs, turned and left. I have also been back to former employers many, many times. I think my record is 5 or 6 back to the same shop, motorcycle shops.
