Never really stops does it.

Little jobs.

And bigger ones.

I have been busy on and off with the little van and other things.

Spartacus is now fully up in the air by about 300mm or 12”

But it is outside of the garage and carport, so 100% subject to changes in the weather.

More about that later.

My Free Mason neighbour three houses down is a concourse level restorer of vintage Triumph motorcycles. The level of meticulous preparation and assembly boggles the mind.

He bought a motorcycle to restore, then bought a spares donor and found it too good to destroy, so he bought another one, number three….. to use for parts.

Better believe it….. It was too good to be used for parts.

He is currently assembling number three.

So he asked me to help him lift the engine into the very padded and protected restored frame yesterday.

A quick job you say??

Two plus hours later I headed home to carry on with my own stuff.

I ended up making two tools to help with the alignment of all the mounting holes.

There are six of three different sizes.

I also changed the sequence in which he wanted to fit it all.

A few trips back to my workshop to fetch and modify stuff and fetch more tools.

I eventually got my small job done with the Cube van.

At which time, Luke next door needed my electric chainsaw to cut down 10 meters or 30 foot of the 5 foot hedge between my garage and his property.

He is putting up a 10x6 meter or 30x18 foot entertainment area and I suggested we remove the hedge so it increases his usable space.
People in this country are spectacularly **** about their land, boundaries and space. I don’t know why.

Hedges gone.

Next job will be to reverse my daily car with towbar and pulling the root bundles and stumps out bit by bit.

Mickey and I did that on the day Prince William and Kate got married , on the other side where we built a wood and steel, plus tool store.

Today I hope to get back to some welding, grinding and progress.

I have been using the Miller Auto mask Andy gifted me a few years ago.

Amazing bit of kit to get your head into really tight spaces.

Being single *****.

Facebook dating offers.
Bear in mind I have no experience with this online dating stuff- but jeez some of my mates certainly do :giggle:, my take on that ad was someone saying " not here for a quick bonk, I want something meaningful and fulfilling, looking for a long term relationship" Did I read that wrong ??? She sounds nice 🤷

She is nothing of interest to me.

However, her location, like many UK villages and towns was amusing.

Mini Road Trip video from Sunday is edited and ready for publication.

But are people ready or bothered about watching or the content.

I have wondered about this, and how to change my style to increase numbers.

Then I realised that would change who I am.

And so no capitulation.

A ton of work and money to be spent still.

Centre caps, rivets and two tyres needed.

Then full restoration including removing the clear lacquer, prepping, painting and a few coats of clear lacquer.

Then of course the van will need significant lowering all round

Hopefully it all comes together.

But rust removal and paint, mechanical and MOT too.

Yup…..

I have no clue what you’re on about.

Seriously.
And therein lies the problem. No worries , I will leave it at that, but why do people think it is so funny to make fun of others ? You quoted a serious post from someone and made fun of their location. OK, this is the internet so there are no longer any gentlemanly rules. Got it !

I now get what you mean.

And based on that I will apologise to you and whoever she is.

Here is my humble opinion and two cents.

Internet messaging, chat posts, and emails are generally prone to misinterpretation. In addition to the old adage “lost in translation,” there should be a modern version called “lost in internet interpretation.”

In an in-person or face-to-face conversation, there are many visual and audio clues as to the intent of a sentence, and these clues possibly convey more of the message than the message itself.

While good books and articles also lack these clues, they lay out the background context in detail so the intent and meaning of any particular sentence is not lost.

However, internet messages are short sound bites and have neither the audiovisual clues nor the larger picture context.

Personally, I have to confess that on many occasions after seeing my posts were misinterpreted, I reread them and clearly see why they were misunderstood.

A case in point: some weeks ago, Rian as a joke posted a message about being so drunk that he woke up in the morning lying on the neighbor's lawn. I attempted to continue the funny story by posting that, while the neighbor avoided mowing over him, he ended up being splashed by the vomit next to him. But from the response, it seems this attempt at humor mostly failed.

But what is more important is that, I know either way, no offense was meant.

Might want to avoid the dating scene there.

Alloy wheels have a lot of work to do to get them back to pretty.

I have ordered 100 new replacement rivets.

Definitely looking forward to the day I can fit them back on.

May just work on a wheel(s) tomorrow, rather than rust.

Tonight….. Relax.

Saturday morning pre-work entertainment

Just watched True Blue Travellers.

Now watching Grind Hard Plumbing Company building a pit bike track on a mountain.

Next job……??

Not sure if it’s more grinding, cutting, fabrication and welding or a start on the new to me alloy wheels.

I also got some sew on patches in the post from Tony

I did wonder if in this day and age of electronics, getting a run of 50-100 vinyl stickers in about 80 to 100 mm diameter made up to sell at cost of plus postage would garner enough interest. But done in the green, white and red colours.

Let’s see what happens next.

Well

That went South very quickly.

Started off sanding the clear with 300 grit.

Then switched to drill with a small wire wheel that damaged the silver in the center. Leading me to suspect it is pain and not powder coating.

So I went to Toolstation and got two litres of Paint Panther stripper.

Then to mate Zack who stripped the tyres off for me and back home.

Unloaded, coffee, bagel and update.

Next job is keying the surfaces and using the stripper, followed by pressure washer.

Was George trying to tell me something about the day ahead this morning?

Guess I have certainly kissed any chance of recovery goodbye now.
