I want to use 3/8" crowfoots as short open end wrenches. The FZ2 would work for me, but for what it its its kinda expensive. Is there another company making something similar? I have a vintage craftsman 90 degree extension which does work for now but I'm limited to the 6" or whatever it is in length.

you do realize that it is sold as a 2 piece set
Is sold as one or two pieces, but yes I did put the "2" part number on accident. Still at $35 each and no real secondary market its kinda pricey for the little nugget it is. I guess I'm just bring a cheap **** lol

There is at least one other manufacturer, but I can't remember the brand name right now. It's right on the tip of my tongue. I think it's a Japanese brand but it might have been a European brand, but it was a smaller brand that mostly rebrands stuff made in Taiwan. It is a 4 letter brand, and I think it might start with "F" or "D". I can picture the adapter in my head and the branding is laser etched onto the adapter instead of being stamped. I think they only made the 3/8" drive version, so Snap-on is likely still the only source for the 1/4" drive adapters.

I tried sourcing the alternative brand in the US a year or two ago, but I couldn't find a website that would ship to the US that also had them in stock. Maybe they are available now. If I remember correctly, the adapters were about $10-16 each depending on the website selling them. If nobody else knows the brand I'm thinking of, it will probably pop into my head within the next couple hours.

EDIT- I just remembered. The brand is "Deen", and it looks like they do make them in both 3/8" and 1/4" drive. If anyone knows of a US delivery option at a good price let me know. Based on how rarely they would be used I could never justify paying the prices Snap-on wants for them.

1/4" drive - part number DNBA2Z
3/8" drive - part number DNBA3Z

I’m missing how these could be used??
One example, Had to replace front spring hangers on a '97 ranger (yesterday actually) and didnt want to open the can of worms that would be removing the gas tank so the conglomeration of sockets and extensions was made to reach in and behind the frame and tank. A wrench would not have fit with the frame flange. PITA but not as bad as it looks. I've used them similarly with crowfeet before, one instance was on GM truck ABS pump lines.

Limited access fasteners can get really weird.

They make crowsfeet into offset wrenches, allow for super narrow wobble extension powered breaker bars, all sorts of weird stuff.

Perfect for junk cars where "remove exhaust" or "removing cooling fan" are not possible without collateral damage.

I dont think I need them in "double" use to get into really weird areas. I want to put them on my crowsfoot wrenches mainly for hydraulic lines (low torque) buried in machines. I am kinda over cutting up wrenches so I can have a 1 1/4" open end that is 4" long.

I use a 3/8 of 1/2 breaker bar with my crows foot to make it a wrench or at least wrench like.
it works well with the crowsfoots line wrenches when you need to get into an odd angle

I swear I saw some from an American manufacturer that I was surprised by after reading about them here as only from snap on or deen. Can’t seem to find it now. Maybe from Lang or Kastar or Mayhew? It was on Acme or Northern tool or Epsteins site.
