I have an Evolution S14MCS metal cutting miter saw and it works great. I have it mounted on Evolution's portable miter saw stand. I'm looking for ideas on metal chip collection since metal chips go all over the place while using the saw.

It may sound silly but carboard is your least expensive and most adaptable material. Yes there are plexiglass/metal guards and trays to direct/collect the chips but most don't quite fit as well as something you construct yourself. In the machine shop I used cardboard, cut to fit when needed, on a regular basis to contain chips from the milling operations. If you want something more permanent you can get the carboard fitment you like and just tape the sides/bottom together with masking tape. You will then have the dimensions for a "flat pattern" to be made of whatever material suits you. CAD (cardboard aided design) works to get a permanent tray right the first time. I still use cardboard for various operations in the shop.

The only downside of those saws. Love mine but boy does it scatter the chips. I've tried to come up with some nice elegant idea using pieces of duct or something along those lines to catch and dump them into a bucket, but then I get distracted (look a squirrel...) and forget about it till the next time I use the saw and have a scattering of chips everywhere. Will probably end up just doing something out of cardboard.

I also have the same saw and stand. I have used a welding curtain on a stand behind the saw to divert everything to the floor directly under the saw, it helps contain the mess a little.
I have just resigned myself that the saw makes a mess and I clean it up after the project is done.

I like that! CAD (Carboard aided design). My daughter finished her intro to engineering class this past junior year of highschool and got certified in solidworks. I'll have to tell her I also know CAD (the cardboard aided design) LOL.

I made a sheet metal blast shield that flanked the right side behind the blade and chip collector.
Also got some heavy leather hyde and made a flexible deflector directly behind the blade to aide

All that and it's a loud, hot chip shooting, accurate but not my favorite way to cut metal

I'm with @tarmy my solution ended with this mod
