Clever but I would hate having to move 4 tools to get to the one in the back

Thanks.

Yes, its always a balance of density and access. In my case of limited cubic ft in my 1-car garage density becomes important. I've been on the lookout for a property with a 20k sf shop but they want SO much more than my little bungalow ;-p

...and the tools in the back are infrequently used, but they gotta live somewhere and this is better and faster than diggin in a box...and the box would then have to live somewhere.

...and did you notice how I used that previously "dead" airspace to free up the shelf space :) ...density with reasonable access remining achieved!

It doesn’t matter the size of the shop when it comes to storage and organization, it is important in all size shops. I have a larger shop than some and smaller than some but most of the great storage ideas have come from folks with spaces like yours where space for anything is at a premium. Thank you for sharing !!

I did similar
Clever on the air chuck slots!

On your drills, I was originally thinking of going that front/back orientation (actually the PVC/holding the top of the drill) but then I decided the side stack resulted in more density and used the whole airspace under the upper shelf. Since I don't use the ones in the back often and I don't mind moving the front ones if I do since its so simple, so I chose the density option.

....so why do all those tools have to travel with your cart?

Clever! I like that you can adjust the number of the "pegs" and the spacing...

I'm gonna borrow your idea and use it as a heavy duty peg for things like heavy hammers and such. I think it will even work on garden tools on my shed.

Yeah, that is a nice feature. As I was thinking of it over the years on these drills I was wondering how to deal with the (I thought likely) difference in handle diameters.....turns out these drills/powered hand tools are all very similar in size so it works for this collection. for other tools, yes, the adjustability is even more helpful.

please send a pic if you do something similar so we can learn form your efforts.

It turns out that peoples' hands are pretty much the same shape as they've always been, so the tools stay a similar size and shape.

I am a mechanic at My day job , I keep all of My most used tools on My cart, which is always only a few steps away from where I am working. I keep the tools that are not used as much in My main tool box.

I did similar for my air tools when I set up my air compressor way back when. Somebody suggested adding a flap or cover to keep dust and debris from settling in the open air fitting. Seems like a good idea, especially since I do a lot of grinding in the shop but I never have.
