Grabbed these dirt cheap 3 phase units for the new shop. Gonna use them as ac only. HVAC guy said for the 100x60 with heat soaking of hot vehicles, trucks and equipment I need 16 tons. Said split it into two units so I can run both to bring it down when I start working or heat sink shop with hot trucks. Then run one unit to maintain temp so it stays efficient.
Well a matched pair of ten ton units came up right so grabbed them

Hvac guy coming tmrw to tell me where he wants them mounted outside the building for exact placement before he comes back and gets them running for me

Put them on stands on the ground and run the duct where it needs to go. Some people get the wild idea to mount them on a stand 15 feet in the air and they are impossible to work on!

Looks like Lennox?

Those coils love the cottonwood. We have Prevent Media screens installed on all of ours, makes cleaning a breeze. Especially if they're micro-channel coils.

Not sure if you get it as bad as we do but I know you're nearby.

Correct
Not much for trees near me, bees wings will be my problem but those seasons don’t overlap much so it shouldn’t be bad

You’ll be able to leave milk on the table with that much cooling power 😂

Now that my own shop has AC I don’t think I could ever go back. It was viewed as a luxury item at the time and has turnt into one of the best things we’ve done other than building the shop.
Other shop has it. It’s a life saver. I’m not even doing doing outside concrete work here as this building is just partially being used. So once outside concrete, ac and bathrooms done I can call it pretty completed!

It doesn't take much to stop a Trane...

🙃

You'll want hail guards.

You'll want the economizer.

If those have micro channel coils, do NOT use anything but plain water to clean them.

The romantic hills of central Umbria, Italy,
SUPERcool, apparently.
With all those BTU's being sucked out and disposed of, you could almist start a business curing smoked saugage, pork fatback, and other meaty goodness. Think about it... Build a smoker, and coordinate it to your fridge block....

Garage Journal Limited Edition Smoked, preserved Sausage?? Tell ME there wouldn't be a market for it!!

Well I for one am not very excited to see pictures of his sausage on GJ but you can be damn sure I’ll look and give honest feedback.

If I had a shop like that only the ’office’ (yeah, a bunch of stools with a TV and beer fridge) would get the AC. The rest can be on fans.
I did office only at first and immediately wanted it in the shop where I did actual work. The next year I put a teeny tiny little 2-ton mini split in the shop and it keeps the 60,000cu/ft as cold as I could ever want it. More importantly, it keeps the humidity down.
