Wondering if anyone has built this small footprint, CNC plasma cutter. It’s looks pretty impressive . He has it so it folds up and can be tucked away.
My table has a tray underneath. Didn't want the mess of a water table and when I built it, the garage was unheated. I don't place my fine china there. It's fine. The dust *****, but that's not just under the cut.Whatever is underneath the cutting is going to have a hard life. That's the compromise made having it small/portable vs a water table. Going to make a big mess.
I'm at the point where I think I'm ready to build a laser table. Fiber lasers are pretty affordable now. My plan is it build a new plasma table but include provisions to attach the cutting head.I think it came out a couple weeks ago so not much time. I have been interested in this, the JD Squared, or roll my own but have about 15 other projects to complete first.
Also, the longer I wait the cheaper fiber lasers will get.

Turn key system is between 12 and 15. So, yeah, affordability is relative. I still haven't added up all the components, but I know I can build a 1500w machine for less. There's a video a guy did showing building one then the next thing ya know, somebody has sponsored him by giving him one of those $15k machines. That would sure be handy.Affordable is relative, but how thick are we talking? Google says a fiber laser that can cut 1/4" mild steel is $15k and up.
So I think the beauty of the thing in the video is it can cut a pretty big surface area, but fold up and be tucked awayIf you are looking for something small, a member here repurposed a laser engraver as a plasma cutter. I followed his directions and it works great for a small plasma table. Mine hangs in the wall.

As someone who has cut about 300 feet of 1/4" plate in the last year for planters, the dust and fumes get everywhere. Have to have front and side doors open. I need a water table bad. Been following this guy who spends most of his time building DIY 3d metal printers, CNC mill, and in this instance fiber laser. To me, it's not enough of a savings to offset the time sink and tuning, but it's there.My plasma table has a 24x24 cutting area and is about 30x36 overall. I would like a 24x24 fiber laser table with about the same foot print. Gweike has been advertising a machine with that cutting area but over 4 feet long. That's part of the reason I want to build one - to have the cutting area and footprint I'm after. Not sure I'll actually save money doing it though. I wheel my table out on the driveway to try to minimize the dust in the shop. Have thought about building a downdraft but haven't done it
