Is anyone able to positively identify the maker/brand of this 4-inch Crescent-style adjustable wrench? It says "Jamestown, N.Y." on one side and "Made In U.S.A." on the other side. There is no maker or brand name on it. I say Crescent-style because while it was made in Jamestown (former home of Crescent Tool Company) there were other manufacturers of adjustable wrenches in Jamestown such as Proto, Wm Hjorth & Co, Jamestown Metalsmiths, JP Danielson, and others.
Based on new information from someone who worked at the Crescent Tool Co Jamestown factory and spoke with old timers while working there, It's very possible this was made by Crescent Forging (Tool) Co in their early years (1903 or 1907-1910) when they possibly only used a "Jamestown, NY" and "Made In USA" stamp before they started using a "Crescent" or "Crescent Tool Co" stamp in addition to.
I am still investigating this possibility. Any additional information to help figure out the manufacturer of this specific adjustable wrench and any other details about it would be great! I have searched advertisements, catalogs, books, Alloy Artifacts, and other resources. This is where it's gotten me to with information. Thanks!
