I've tried searching but cant find any definitive answer. The Astro 78835 and Lisle 17350 pipe stretcher kits look identical to me other than the 80 dollar price tag difference. Does anyone know if there is actually a difference or not? I would like to buy the cheaper priced Astro kit but my issue is I deal with plenty of 4.5 and 5" exhaust so I would need to buy the separate 5" adapter that Lisle sells (I havent see this part from Astro). My main question is if anyone knows if the Lisle 5" adapter will work on the Astro kit?

Astro 78835

Lisle 17350

And this is the Lisle 5" adapter

Don't see why it wouldn't work with either given the adapter ranges though I havent tried.
78835 is made out of some pretty tough alloy, the expander die is polished smooth to reduce friction and the bearing it rides on it pretty serious. Not that it's impossible, but our warranty rate is quite low on the set after upgrading the alloys on all the friction bits years ago.

Thanks for the info. Im guessing it will work as well. If it doesn't for some reason I'll just have to return the Astro kit and get a Lisle.

Unless I'm not searching enough I couldn't find an adapter through you guys.

i got a set years ago - made in the USA. These days, Lisle has moved a LOT of manufacturing (if not all) offshore, so I suspect it is now being made by the same manufacturer (except the super cheapies) as everyone esle. I don't think the current units will be any better than other reputable names like Astro.
