I'll start with this Delta Power Tool Division ID plate that GJ member @pcrov just posted:



and then one of the very few we've seen, this old 1/2" hex drive set manufactured by Keystone Mfg. Co., Buffalo, New York:

These are vintage Coleman 500 Speedmaster stoves. I use them as tools in the shop--and for cooking in the field.

^ Because it isn't seen on that many items... other than my Keystone socket set, up until @pcrov posted the Delta planer and @Beerhippie his Coleman collection, we've seen very, very few (exactly one if my memory serves me correctly) other tools marked that way... waiting for owner of same to post it.
Curious to see if there are any others out there in the hinterlands.
I would imagine it's stamped on items other than "hand tools" as well... curious to see what they may be.

Haha. True. 4.c's qualifications are more restrictive than mine. I'm enthralled with the rarity of the full spelling without the "the".

It's interesting with the Coleman stuff. Of the over 100 appliances I have, only that run of single-burner stoves has United States Of America spelled out. Even lanterns and clothes irons of the same age--'40s-early '50s--have only USA--including the wartime items.

Coleman is back in!





October of '59 Model 200A lantern, bearing the sacred article!

I'm betting that wartime restrictions limited the use of articles for civilian purposes, and it took a while for the markets to recover.

Articles were very important to the war effort. Imagine a commanding officer ordering his troops to "Fire Gun", "Show me map", etc. Bad for morale if not confusing.

^ Wow! Nice find. I just checked all mine and if they have the under handle inset at all, it's just 'MADE IN U.S.A.' I don't have a statistically relevant amount of examples though. I would love to see this explored by those who do (including @FSP Vac. Tools and @LesserSon and perhaps others...). I wonder if it's been noted as early in a known production sequence. I don't have time to scan through the FSP thread or I would try to do my own homework.

I was doing my research too but I could not find another example like mine, only on the ones that say made in USA. That makes me think that mine are older. But I will keep looking.

Found an unexpected and unusual exemplar of the "MADE IN THE UNITES STATES OF AMERICA" club at the flea market this morning.



Some of you may think you recognize this antique farm implement wrench by its famous shape and profile, and you'd be right. But if you are thinking you don't remember seeing this marking on it, and you're running to your garage, basement, hutch, chest, box, board, or wall to check the flip side, you may not find it there. I have another one, it doesn't have it, and I don't remember seeing it before.

It is indeed a PLANET JR, Don. Here it is with my other one for comparison. As I said, I don't ever recall seeing one with a country of origin marking, let alone fully spelled out in all its formal glory, but I am glad I dound it just in time for the 250 year anniversary celebration.

I got a Simonds saw jointing tool at a garage sale today, and it says "Made in United States of America".

I haven't looked to see what else might be marked with the complete words.
