My picking buddy passed on our mutual meeting on Sunday so I headed to the Branch 15 swap meet in Brooks Oregon 1 day early this am. Didn't pick up a ton but had fun and got out which was nice! As I was leaving the rain was starting to come down which is not abnormal given my geographical location. While I was there I ran into Oregon Rock Crusher a few times there.

-Mac 1/2 drive impact extension that has a 3/8 drive end
-2 large brass peackocks for my wife $40/pr

I visited ReStore today to donate some stuff, and went inside afterwards to pick through the tools. The other half found some plant pots and a Hummel porcelain figurine. I found this (hefty) Stanley screwdriver with Bell System markings. Below is a photo after quickly dressing the tip on the grinder.

Today SWMBO and I hit two sales. The first one didn't presult in any purchases of consequence...2nd sale was a little more fruitful. It was advertised as an Estate/Yard Sale. Nothing was priced and the place looked like it was hit by a bomb, however it did yield some interesting finds....-30 degree Merino Wool socks, parking violation ticket pad, Zebco De-Liar Scale, and a tomato/onion holder for slicing...
IMG_5627r.jpg
...next was a Gilhoolie, which if you are unfamiliar with, is the best jar opener design ever. It never fails. Next, was some Crosman BBs and Pellets, and a small lot of leather working tools.....
IMG_5628r.jpg
...a Ratchet Versatool, two Justin Vosler Custom Steak Knives, and a Stanley Chisel...
IMG_5629r.jpg
....chinesium hex set, a Humbolt Pocket Soil Penetrometer, and a Waldes Truarc Snap Ring Pliers.

Good to see you out and about today Smoke....looks like you had a good day. I thought there was a good showing by a lot of motivated vendors and the threatening weather held off which was nice. I did go over and buy the big Prentiss bulldog 96 you mentioned seeing, along with a Vanderman No. 1 that was with it, $110 for the pair. I also picked up a huge DA Hinman #4 bender for $40 which is older than it looks and probably pre war. The add is from 1920. It is a beast.

I also bought a Pacific pumper fire pump. These were used by the forest service and loggers for seasonal fire control. It's a screaming aluminum block two stroke which is cooled by the water it pumps. Crappy close up pic is all I took.
There was a bunch of smaller items landed in the cart but possibly the best bargain I found was an odd looking chain clamp in a box for $5 that turned out to be a Dearman International pipe alignment and welding clamp. They bring real money new or on the bay. Too many smalls to list. It was a good day. Ed.

I drove out to Caldwell Friday to pick up an auction win for $90. This eight inch grinder had a sintered tungsten carbide wheel when I pick it up but I already changed it to a normal stone before I took the photo. On the way back I stopped at an estate sale and hit it big. The Craftsman toolbox stack was fully loaded for $150. Including a set of Snap-on screwdrivers that I have never seen before. Does anyone know the story on these. They don't show up in the catalog. Also, can anyone tell me what his spray wand is about? The nozzle is a slit. There were also some blacksmith tools and a Snap-on battery pliers that didn't make the camera.

Back to the ES from Thursday and yesterday, for an "anything but furniture is a buck" day. I got there well before opening and they were open! I was zeroed in on a set of 4 stackable "lawyers Book cases" and it was sill there, got quoted $15 for all and said I'll take it!

Then he says "we will unload the books and get it up front for you! Go do more shopping!" Deal! then I shocked him showing it was all modular by taking the top off and up, then went hunting again.

They not only took all the bits up the brought most of them to me to the van door for me to stow! it is still in the van so no pics yet, but I'm happy!

I did spent another $3 for this stuff:

I figure he charged me for the Coffee pot, Binocs and the wood clamp/press thing (more on that later) and threw in the rest:

6X30 Binocs, not wartime but the eye pieces and design are just like the WWII Binocs I have, so likely just post war - Sure Shot Brand BBs in the cardboard tube, the wood clamp-press thing, a working if rusty Coghlan's striker, 3 glass syringes, and the Revere ware Coffee Pot:

s-wood-calmp-press-Coghlans-striker-glass-syringes.jpg

E2-Reverware-Coffee-pot-1.jpg

E2-Reverware-Coffee-pot-2.jpg

Markings are well worn, and no date I could discern, but its complete:

E2-Reverware-Coffee-pot-3.jpg

The wood thing was clearly home made and I did figure out what it was for after some thought:

E3-Swa-blade-clamp-1.jpg

Those marks tell me its a circular saw blade clamp and for sharpening them! The marks as measured align with that, so a circular saw blade vise! Clamp in a bench vise, or screw to a work bench:

Snap on screwdrivers are the “ Soft grip“ screwdrivers from around 2000-2005, the design was then superseded by the current “Instinct soft grip” screwdrivers, apart from the range of ratcheting screwdrivers which are still the “Soft grip” design to this day.

I found time yesterday to hit two local farm estate sales, and both were total clear outs run but medium sized companies - my favorite, and I wish I could have gone when they opened, but Sunday is funday, as they say. Both sales were supposed to be 75% off that day, but were just trying to get things out of their!
55364120491_f3bfb7269d_b.jpg
From the fist sale, an interesting millivolt meter, Magna-tip driver, variable tip nut driver, old school pocket thermometer, Stanley line level, and two USA metric combos that I believe were made by SK. $2

55364594188_e8a328b97f_b.jpg
from the second sale, Herbrand Ford main bearing wrench, Plomb DBE, Yankee driver with all of its bits, SK 1/4" combo, (3) Dunlap combos, Flex light, Vanadium Tool Co. offset driver, Long C and Plomb punches, Craftsman dividers, Union depth gauge (look at that case hardening!), and a well used wooden machinist chest. $2 for all of that. And that sale was nutz! Sad that it was the same weekend as the big tool guy swap that Smoke and ORC went too, as there were still vintage drill presses, 6" Heritage jointers and table saws, grinders, and so on. I could have gotten it all cheap, but I have too many as it is, and no room left.

Here’s a pair of Wilton c clamps that I picked up at an estate sale recently. I paid about the same as a pair from Harbor freight. As far as condition the clamps have been slightly used and the boxes do show age of handling.
If you know approximately the time period these were made I’m all ears. These are a nice edition to my Wilton vises that I have.

Been AWOL for a while. I had a post started responding to posts from early June on, but lost it. :tantrum2:
Estate sale ($40): 22" Jet scroll saw (JWSS-22B) w/ OEM stand and pedal:
You ****!
Floor stand tools seem to hit some sort of ceiling and then they're all $40 regardless of manufacturer
Huh, that hasn't been my experience.
Round 7 of freebies from the work cleanout
The find that keeps on sucking!
Round 8 of the work clean-out freebies
Yep, still ****!
I did find a couple worth while.
You sure did. You ****!
$10. all in (y)
****!
Digging among the new tools, I found a WWII SK socket set, and a partial SK Wayne, a Stanley G5, and a pair of Knipex pliers. All that for $8.
You ****!
He also had a Kennedy versa-cart, full of the remains of a machinists career, but he wanted $3500 for it.
Interesting juxtaposition of perceived value. I agree, 3500 is too much!

@Outlawmws ***** for his big Father's Day haul!
Nice mid week market place score. I got a Kennedy 520 that someone lost the key too, and used Bubba’s method to get into it. Some pretty good stuff for $50, no complaints here! I will keep what I want and send the rest down the road. A quick 5 mins and I got the box closing, it latches now
Nice score, you ****! Glad you were able to fix the latch.
Another dumpster dive into the scrap hopper at work today. Justrite 2 gallon parts washing tank
Dive! Dive! Dive! You ****!
Within 2 minutes of the sale open I spot a Kennedy machinist chest (Model 526). I open the lid and I see a price tag of $30 and contents to boot.
You ****!
Also a neat Starrett 165 double ended pin vise and feeler gauge.
My guess is to hold pins for go/no go gaging.
I haven't seen a pair of the net-weaver scissors--as we called them--like those lower right in many a year! I had several friends who worked weaving cargo nets back in the '70s and they would bring those home. Amazing to think back of that still being manual labor that late.

The loop goes over your middle finger and the scissors can be quickly flipped around to the back of the hand and out of the way until needed.
Huh, neat. I know them as thread snips. They're still made by Clauss (and others, I'm sure -- @RTM beat me to it, his example by Wiss).
Visited Hamilton Tool & Supply (www.toolsupermarket.com) this morning.
Amazing. Thanks for the pictures!
Your haul ***** over all , but especially for the bender!
:+1: @Oregon rock crusher *****!
Forgot to put this in. I found this Hole Hawg at a garage sale last week. Paid a whole ten dollars for it. Works perfect but I did replace the cord.
You ****!
I found time yesterday to hit two local farm estate sales
Dang, BMW you ****!

Family run estate sale first pile was $100 second walk around I spent another 20 . The garage was a bit rough no one had worked in there in a long time. Digging through tool boxes that had a strong smell of mouse piss. Opened a screwdriver draw and saw a nest. Was surprised to see the mouse was still home was a first for me.

Odd and ends from a couple of sales about $30. Still have a double bit axe in the truck tool box from the lot. I have never seen the youth sized hatchet before.

Interesting/Ironic day today. Surfing FBMP at coffee break and found a set of wrenches labeled "Forged" in the ad. They were cheap, they were close by so I made arrangements on my way home. The irony, you ask? I sold an identical set over the weekend on my FBMP to a person in Illinois and dropped them off at the Post Office this morning on my way in. Habits like this are NOT helping me reduce my inventory.

Additional stuff from a private estate sale a few weeks ago.
Mac 3/8" metric deep socket set, Snap-On 3/8 shallow metric socket set

From a pro estate sale that opened this past Wednesday due to the amount of stuff. Hoarder house but everything in decent condition and even stored stuff at his mothers house next door so both houses included in the sale. Typically high priced estate sale company but are much more reasonable when they are confronted with sales like this.
Proto SAE hex socket set, partial 3/8 Snap-on metric socket set, Vulcan 1/2" ratchet, Snap-On metric wrench, hex socket & 1/4" T-bar, Mac driver.

From pro estate sale that is cheap on tools,
Mac metric tap & Die set, Vulcan drivers, Vulcan distributor wrenches, Vulcan 1/4" ratchet, Vulcan wrench, Snap-On SAE crows foot, some kind of Snap-On pin wrench, Snap-On & Gray Canada extensions.
Bunch of Vulcan SAE sockets

From miscellaneous sales
Old 3/8 spinner with associated driver, Herbrand distributor ? wrenches and magnetic pick-up, Thomas & Betts Crimpers, some Craftsman USA reversible metric wrenches/, Xcelite drivers - Germany

Not a garage sale, but a FB Marketplace find-

4x of the 7ft tall, 4ft wide, 18" deep heavy-duty Gorilla Racks:

1782836417242.png
4 of them for $200. $200 seems like a lot to drop on some shelves until you look how much they cost new. I think I paid $150+ shipping for each of the ones I already own. Harbor Freight even wants $139+tax for their version with the wire-rack surface for shelves (I prefer the wood shelves though; it's easier to slide stuff around).

So at this price, it was almost like buying one shelf and getting 3 free, lol.

GS and ES have been scarce around here lately. I pick up this Duro ( I think )1/2 socket set on goodwill though. I looked on AA and it resembles a Duro-Built set on there, possibly early 1930’s ??? Most of the sockets have the dash instead of the slash on the sizes. There are a couple of patent numbers and made in USA. The ratchet says made in Chicago. 12pt and 8pt sockets. Bonus of 3 Proto Los Angeles 5416 1/2 6pt sockets. I am excited to clean it up and restore the box. Shipping cost more than my winning bid. 😂
