Columbus people: Where are your "places" and who are "your guys"?

Relocating from SE PA to Columbus. One of the things I'm lamenting is losing the collection of great places and people I've found around here over 15 years, after doing the same when we moved here after 12 years in Detroit.

One of the places around here I'll really miss is a place that I call Fazzio's. It's no longer called that, but it sounds better than the "Steel and Metal Service Center" it's called now. New raw materials (steel, aluminum, plastics) at great prices, surplus/drops of raw materials by the pound, an enormous selection of fasteners by the pound (G5, G8, Stainless, SHCS, Metric), and all around just a fun place to go.

I see that there are quite a few metal suppliers on the SW side. Who's your go-tos? Metals, fasteners, welding supplies, tools, all the products and services that a garage guy needs?

(Old pic, costs more now!)

Cool. Born in Nelsonville lived in Logan, Lancaster, Columbus and Marion. It's been several decades since I was back.

Marion ? I'm sorry to hear that.

Way too far south for me but I did make a trip to Metal Supermarket on the north west side...a little pricey but they had the aluminum sheet I needed in stock so it was worth it.

Love metal Supermarkets. We have one in St. Louis and I used one in Texas as well.

I think you missed the Marion comment.

For the OP, for fasteners by the pound, usually TSC covers the SAE stuff.. I'd avoid the Grade 2 stuff though. Rural King does some bulk fasteners as well.

Life is too short to use G2 fasteners. The G8 is so inexpensive there compared to buying at a normal store that I always just come home with handfuls of it and have a big stock of 1/4-1/2. It's about 20-25 minutes away so worth the drive unless I just need one or two of something. Bolt Depot (mail order) also has great prices and reasonable shipping for small quantities. They are in MA so shipping to SE PA is pretty quick, I imagine Columbus would be maybe a day more. Being close to Jeg's and Summit will be nice.

As far as Jegs goes, call and place your order for Will Call at the Warehouse in 42.

Summit will be a longer drive up 71 to 76..... keep in mind 76 will probably be under construction.

as someone that has driven NJ to MI multiple times in the past 4 years, I can attest to 76 construction at all times. But have stopped at Summit during my trips. :)

Go Blue. (needed to do that for the Columbus folks lol)

Ohio Power Tool - can get a better price at the store vs on-line

I saw that. I was in Marion back in 78-79'ish and it was cool. (Marion Power Shovel) Lots of baseball. Bought a house on Friday, laid off on Monday. We jetted. LOL

Any Columbus people know of any makerspaces with laser cutters? Either public (like at a library) or private? I keep seeing things about Idea Foundry, and saw that it is being taken over by Columbus Association for the Performing Arts (announced in February) but nothing that indicates they are still operating.
