Earlier today in front of the garage I setup my F250 tailgate as a work bench.
My toolboxes are on that side of the garage also, easy to get to tools as needed.

Trusty old Craftsman lawnmower had a leak.
Got that taken care of, cleaned out air filter and sharpened the blade while I was at it.

Letting the Permatex Ultra Black cure for 24hrs, then will recheck sometime next week.

It is, but I don't have the guts to go after one with a dremel and a burr!
Approach a mashed fingernail with a red-hot nail or paper clip and tell me which is worse. Dremel and burr is pretty peaceful and calm by comparison.

PS: Fingernails don't melt like plastic--they burn. Heat on a mashed fingernail? Nope. Just nope.

I was extricating a master cylinder from a 1948 Plymouth with the help of my friend. Trying to pry the clutch pedal off with a 5’ spud bar with a 4’ pipe cheater: slipped off and smashed my thumb between the spud bar and the frame.

A red hot needle and a red geyser, and I was fine.

I had received a couple gifts from @jblnut so I got them sorted, put the new tractors in the VW display cabinet-look hard on the left and right, then spent a few minutes with Dawn dish wash and paper towels to clean up my new oil can. It was placed on the can display shelf. Continued on with the proramming of the display.

Pulled everything out down the daily driver side wall, put all cleaning tools in the back corner. Hung both of my sweep brooms behind the man door. Left the propane tank that needs to go to the BBQ/Hot tub place for a new valve and refill. Then I will have 4 usuable and full tanks on the property.

got the little lady to make up a jug of Raspberry Leamonade And it’s been chilling overnight.

answered some FBMP ads for a table saw so that hopefully leaves today as I tired of how much room it takes up.

will pull the other side out today along with all tool boxes to sweep up behind or vacuum if need be.

hope to move around some wall decorations for more to go up but be ready for when the new stereo system comes.

NASCAR at 4.

Friday it was a brake fluid flush for the Tool Box Truck™. Ended up with .5 G of caramel colored fluid. Probably came from the factory 20 years ago. All fluids have now been refreshed. The truck's jack blew a seal so had to borrow the one from the Toyhauler.

Yesterday was cleaning up the mess from the last couple weekends activities. Mounted the stereo speaker that was on the metal cabinet to the wall by the subpanel.

Well, it never cooled off enough yesterday afternoon to feel like crawling under a rig--not to mention, the young ladies out front needed supervision and the shade, breeze and beer were pleasantly cool.

Got back on it this AM.

The shifter box under the shifter lever, from the rear:

55389333435_b1941df85c_b.jpg

I'm lying on my back on a creeper under the rig with my half-rack abs wedged against the undercarriage, struggling to use a cell phone as a camera while holding a light in one hand and the phone in the other. The phone is picking the focus based on some algorithm. But you can make out that there's a 23mm plywood block on the right side of the shifter--cut and sanded to a tolerance of one RCH--and a quarter on the left side. Between those, the lever is now firmly wedged in place where it should be when in neutral.

Taking a look at the other end of the shifter linkage rod,

55389159141_b15b2b4da9_b.jpg

it ain't right. That silver thing--the shifter cup--is supposed to be perfectly vertical, fore-aft and left-right when in neutral.

I need to loosen the clamp on the coupler of the shift rod and get that aligned--but I only have two hands and am fighting some spring pressure.

Problem solved.

55389159151_44f53bd34b_b.jpg

The camera, of course, chose to focus on the most handsome object in the field, but the cup is now vertical in both directions.

Tightened the clamp, put away tools, cleaned up, had some lunch and drove around the local roads to run through the gears.

I've never driven a classic VW that shifted like this now does! It is the least vague shifting VW Van ever!

I remember working on/adjusting/rebuilding shifting mechanisms on numerous old VW, no buses newer than 1978, though I had Jettas and Rabbits into the mid 1980s that also needed shifter refurbishing. I'm glad I'm not doing that again.

Now that I have it figured out, I can probably do it in ten minutes, including laying out and putting away tools. The 23mm block plus the quarter and the camlock ******** the vise-grips are the ticket!

Of course, next time I need to do this, I'll have completely forgotten....

Having gotten the shifter of The Brick fixed, it's time for the next project!

Last time I took that rifle shooting, I experienced a couple of FTFs and FTEs (Failure To Fire and Failure To Eject, for those who don't speak gun). Can't have that--my rifles normally run like Swiss watches. Both of these are symptoms of a dirty bolt, so I tore it down and gave the bolt a good bath in the USC with some degreaser. Now clean as a whistle. Ruger 10-22 is meant to be a dry gun--no lube--but a very judicious application of a tiny bit of CLP in the trigger mech and bolt--extractor and firing pin--can only help.

Ready to plink again!

That 1972 Ruger 10-22 bears about as much in common with a stock 10-22 as a Dodge Dart does with a Formula car.

Why only one axle assy? Doesn't the other one have just as many miles on it?
Not my vehicle, the owner has 4 kids in college and is on a tight budget.

If it were my vehicle and I was preparing it for the after life, I would do "everything" while I was in there. Peace of mind and efficiency are more important to me than the cost of a few parts.

Picked this up off the side of the road yesterday. Chicago electric 14".
Pretty rough shape, but the motor seems to run smooth...wheels spin, but no tension on the blade20260712_081551.jpg. Table feels like cast iron, but is pretty rusty. Will clean it up and see if I can get it functional.
Can't tell from your photo, but it looks like the upper wheel is missing the urethane bandsaw tire...
That and there should be a tension adjustment mechanism at the axle on the upper wheel...

Blew in cellulose insulation in the ceiling this morning. only 22x22 but newly installed metal ceiling and insulation has it feeling better. R30 about $350
Did that once, my feed person didn't take instruction for ****. After i bought more bags my Mrs had to be the feed person for the hopper. She was not excited about that.

On Friday found the source of the air leak on passenger door on my 5 spd Blazer...the latch needs adjustment. Tried several hammers to "adjust" the sticker plate...of course the biggest one was the correct choice. BTW down pours of 1-2 inches per hour are great for finding leaks.

Fixed it today...took 2 adjustments. Clean up tools.

Pulled number plug on my.wife's truck and cleaned up.

Also kept the BFH out to install t posts for my tomatoes. No they are falling over a bit less.

Everything cleaned up including from mowing earlier and drove my wife's rig to the Evanescence concert...as a test only.

You should see what 12 can do in one night.......
Funny you mention that. I worked in a place with 42 lifts and 48 rider jacks. The building wasn't huge (660,000 sq ft) and most of the action happened around the docks. It looked like watching an ant farm when everyone was going.
We used a lot of 1/2 plate steel and concrete filled bollards.

Mileage/age related thing? Or courtesy of poor road surface and a large pothole...

It only has 140km My wife said she nailed a pothole good in the winter. I guess it finally let go at 120kmph and shredded the tire. Just glad she's okay. I think i will redo the entire suspension next year. We plan on keeping this car for a while.
