I had the chance this week to meet a very nice man named John who was selling a few of his tools. Of course finding someone that loves tools as much as I do it made for a very fun afternoon meeting. Just walking through his man cave a seeing all that gold in tool box after tool box gave me goose bumps.

This plier/wrench was made by Mr. Allen C. Allan Pat Applied on May 19th, 1919 and Granted on April 27,1920. By luck because his name is rather unique I was able to only find one grave; in part it reads he was born in 1880 and he died in 1961, (aged 80-81). The burial site is in Dekorra Cemetery, Dekorra, Columbia, Wisconsin. His wife was Blanche M. Allan and she was born in 1883 and she died in 1973.

More luck in my search of the wrench I found a very nice write-up of GJ member twertsy in the make of that wrench by the Allan-Diffenbaugh Wrench & Tool Works out of Baraboo, Wi. The Company was started in 1920 in Baraboo,Wi. Then in 1922 a move to Appleton,Wi. It would seem it only lasted till 1927.

Picture of the Plier/wrench and links on this nice Sunday day along with a special thanks to John that made this post possible.

That's awesome woody! I think I might have a wrench like that in a box of my grandpa's stuff. Neat history you found on it.

Thought I’d give this thread a bump with a Kant-Slip I found recently. I wanted to find one for a bit, and finally ran across it in my travels. Fairly good shape with much of its black finish.

I’m glad Woody that yours has nice clear markings. Apparently I wasn’t seeing what I thought I was. Baraboo, Wis? I was way off.

Btw Datamp appears to be down today, as I haven’t been able to access anything for other research.

Another thread bump with my two Kant plier wrenches. The smaller one is 8” in length and its bigger brother is 9 1/2” long. Both are patent pending versions, although the shorter one does not have the small hinge piece that narrows the the slot effectively creating two size ranges (third Kant-slip patent).
