Brake line clamps, the one fluid I absolutely cant stand getting on my floor.

Last night my buddy who owns the awesome cabin we start our canoe trip from called and said he had some Jeep seats and a winch he took off his daughters LJ. I stopped by and picked them up the winch is name my price kinda deal and the seats and covers were free. This was perfect for me since my drivers seat base is trashed and wont bolt up.
Nice rough country neoprene covers too!


The winch is a 9500 lb tabor winch made by Warn winches. Im having a hard time finding what they sell for to make a fair offer to him, but its all there. I need to grab a receiver winch plate and a set of Anderson connectors and get this thing setup on the truck

Tonight I circled back to my radio project since I had a bit of spare time. I used a glue stick and glued a sheet of paper to the starboard.
I found there was a foam gasket on the head unit so I removed it and used it to make the template. I drilled some holes in each corner and then used my jigsaw and router to open it up.
My router table is buried by my truck boxes so I was doing my best to freehand this. The paper makes it look worse than it was. After a bit of fine tuning I swapped to a raound over bit and went around the outside. I quick check with radio installed, I drilled the screw holes and got it all mounted. quick test fit in the boat and it looks good. I need to layput and drill the holes to mount it to the helm and its done. Next project is remaking the tables from starboard. Wife hates the fake woodgrain look.

You are correct, I just didn’t go further than Amazon at the time. When I grabbed one out of the package I didn’t pay attention to them as I thought they were the same. So when that first brake line started dribbling I was in a hurry to stop it and apparently I picked the 3/8” tube clamp and was clamping it on a 3/16” tube.

When I pulled the dual line from the bed area, I needed two of those 3/16” sized clamps and so I just had to make one work. No biggie as they did the job.

Today and tomorrow I am working the Grainger county tomato festival for one of my hospitals. Its hot and humid in mid July and we sponsor a cooling tent and give out waters and tote bags for all the festival goers. We partner with the county EMS and assist them with taking care of folks who get overheated. Today was my first time attending this festival and its much like any county fair. Plenty of tractors, fair food, and old people who have no business being out and about in 90 plus degree heat. Cool things that happened today included shaking hands with a 100 plus year old world war 2 vet and getting to thank him personally for his service, I caight a lady who fell out right next to me and kept her from hitting the ground and was able to get her to the cooling tent and taken care of, and I met one of my favorite state representatives. I also bought a bunch of tomatoes, peppers and corn. It was brutally hot and keeping the waters stocked and making sure I stayed hydrated were keys to sucess today. I have to go back tomorrow and will have to pack it up after the day is over.
Tomatoes are not my favorite food, but these people take them seriously. These tomatoes are shipped all over the country. I have a friend whos's daughter is a chef in New York city and she says they use these tomatoes in her restaurant. Its crazy to me since I dont really eat them , but my wife swears they are better than any other tomato. Tomorrow there will be a big car show in the morning so I am looking forward to seeing what comes out. I also had a great conversation with a Kei truck importer out of Mars Hill , NC and we exchamged information since he apparently gets a lot of calls for a JDM mechanic in my general area. We will see if it works out for me with an increase in business.

Once I got back home, it became a cooking frenzy. My wife was pumped to have a case of tomatoes so I started roasting some for making tomato soup.
While the tomatoes were roasting away, I fire roasted some poblanos on the stove eye to make some cheese and chile quesadillas
I made a hell of a mess of the kitchen, but made her 2 batches of tomato soup, and made some killer quesadillas.

Something I do miss is home grown tomatoes, more flavor in them then the one bought at the store!

I used to help process the tomatoes in big pots outside for canning when I was a kid. Lot of work but it was awesome to eat during the winter on a cold day with grilled cheese sandwiches!

Basically it’s just like any other gravy.

Start with bacon grease, sprinkle the flour and cook it some in the grease, and instead of milk or water you use crushed up tomatoes and juice that you canned. Might add some water if your tomatoes aren’t watery enough. Some folks use the canned tomatoes from the store, but home canned tomatoes give the best flavor of course!

Yea, Ive been exposed to the differences in the USA when it comes to different regions food group. I usually seek it out when I travel, I do not go to the chain stores and I look for the back-alley restaurant that's been there for years and has an old menu with local favorites. Traveling out of the countries if we are spending time with local friends, I would literally ask them what is it that they eat that's considered a local thing and would go grocery shopping with them and then go home to cook with them guiding me. This allows me to learn it and also try new things.

We have something like that, but my family threw in tomatoes and cucumbers in the salad depending on what's growing in the garden. I don't have exact measurements as I pour and sprinkle till my ancestors says it's enough. That's a lot of the recipes I learned from them. I do know it's some white vinegar with water to cover the veggies, just enough sugar to combat the vinegar tartness, salt, black pepper, garlic, and sometime oregano or Italian seasoning.

Yea, that's like the whole ketchup on egg thing. I prefer salsa on my eggs while my wife is all about that sugary ketchup. everyone has their preference.

Another kind of gravy that's not common these days is red-eye gravy, which is made with ham dripping and coffee.

yea, many yeas ago: My Dad would splurge for a Smithfield/Virginia (?) aged/smoked ham. With some of the slices he would make red eye gravy after frying. Don't think he added coffee. But then my folks liked chicory coffee. Probably why I never developed a taste for coffee.

Spent all day Saturday sweating outside with EMS and folks from my hospital handing out waters. I didnt have to save any lives Saturday, which was good and the rain missed us so I was appreciative of that. I got home late Saturday to our internet still out from a power surge Friday night. I traced it back to my modem and went and bought a new modem to get us back out of 1997. Modem installed and a quick call to spectrum and we were somewhat up and running. @cccoltsicehockey dont laugh at my network here, but its haggard compared to what I watched you build. Im not a tech guy by any means so when I built my house I ran all cat 6 throughout and it all terminates into my built ins. All of it plugs into a 16 port ethernet switch to spread signal across the house. Its worked, but one day I had planned to build out a proper network. Since fixing the modem my myQ gateway and things like tvs didnt have network access. Well tonight I believe I found the culprit of all my woes. I was mowing the grass and saw this
It looks like this tree got hit by lightning Friday while I was working. Im sure all that energy hitting that close to the house had something to do with our issues. Now to figure out how I want correct it and fix my network.

Other than that mess I let the smoke out of a starter today on a JK wrangler. He said it was slow starting and that auto zone told him the starter was " good" .
When I checked to see how it started it was definitely slow cranking. My tester showed a voltage drop to 9.7 volts but after trying it a few times I had my son crank it while I was under the hood and I saw the smoke come out and it never cranked again. New starter handled it and got it out the door. We also found this VW that had a noisy door when the window was down.
The nut fell off the window regulator and let it make noise with the window down. With the window up, the regulator was under tension and quiet. With these cars done we called it a day and shut down the shop.

It’s a little scary when you see a tree close to the house get struck by lightning. We had one here get struck by lightning but luckily the only thing happened was the tree died and I got a lot of maple wood out of the deal.

Mark, I ended up paying someone to drop that big Maple tree, if it's close to the house I try not to play arborist. If it's wide open space I have no concerns with dropping that tree!

I have a guy who is gonna come by and look at dropping all these trees for me. If he can get them on the ground for me, I will get my friends bobcat and dump trailer and cut it up to take to him since he heats with wood. The bigger concern is the loss of shade. The western sun pounds on the front door and front of my house in the evening and losing some of that shade/ screen will mean I need to get some new trees in the ground as soon as these get removed.

Believe me, I've had it up to here with close by lightning strikes and the havoc they can cause. I've had lightning striking a tree at the lake house go into the ground to a nearby irrigation valve, then travel to the controller and blow it up! Three years ago, we had a close by strike that came into the house through the DirecTV and blew up nearly everything electronic, from modems to routers to switches to every DirecTV box, all the TV's, the DVD machines - good Christ, more than $17k by the time I got everything back up and running. While maybe unrelated (but I hesitate to believe in coincidences!), I also had to replace a GFI box and had batteries (that were on maintainers) in 2 cars go bad at the same time!!
Mother Nature will not be denied if she decides she wants to f$%! with you!!!

A number of years ago I was driving home from work during a violent storm and lightening hit a tree at the entrance to my neighborhood. As I turned the corner, I saw a huge blue flame shooting 60 feet in the air! The lightening had hit a tree and traveled down the trunk and through the roots to the natural gas line buried along the road. Mother nature showed off her power!

I already have a ubiquiti router, I am waiting on fiber to drop in my area before I jump into doing the real network stuff, but I may have to reach out when that time comes. Im sure you will have no problem helping me drain the bank account!

Blew the mirror off the car, fried the entire electrical system which totaled the car, set off all the air bags, and I’m sure the interior was done too from them shitting themselves!

Lightning is amazing and I love to watch it, at a distance!

Blew the mirror off the car, fried the entire electrical system which totaled the car, set off all the air bags, and I’m sure the interior was done too from them shitting themselves!

Lightning is amazing and I love to watch it, at a distance!

A guy I used to work with had an old 90ish accord. It got hit by lightning at work on the roof of the car. All 4 tires had weird little micro pinholes all over that could not be plugged. He threw an ecm in it and 4 tires and drove it another 10 years or so. I couldn't believe it didnt nuke everything in the car.
