I was pretty surprised to see some Ryobi impacts used by a Swedish Team at the DTM Norisring race over the 4th. A lot of the mid level series seemed to use Sonic and Milwaukee toolboxes and tools. The top DTM series used Snap on and other professional hand tool brands. There was also an interesting mix of high tech camber gages along with the old string line and ruler method.

I am partial to the Porsches! I also assume the tools are based on sponsorship, but it seems like it would be a difficult transition if, say, tool sponsor changes every year or two. I guess they are used to making big changes in a hurry, but changing tools would slow everything down for a while and may cause problems.

We use Makita power tools because Honda has a deal with Makita, but most everything else (including hand tools) are a mix of whatever works, and what is available at the time.

I suspect sometimes they just slap a new nametag on their box and keep on using the same tools. 🙂
