That's what I carry - picked one up probably 30 years ago from Sam's Club, I believe. That was a partially serrated, lost it, bought another along with a plain edge. Cheap, durable, nothing fancy but I don't have to worry about it either.

All business…..have carried one of these for the last 20 or so years.

I also have a custom, Swiss Army Victorinox CyberTool that will sometimes travel with me. It’s too big to carry in a pocket or on a belt in my opinion, but very useful to have in a satchel or day bag. I have a friend who fixed nearly everything with just the CyberTool, which was astonishing to see the functionality.

See here. Mine was exactly like this, I bought it at the Victorinox Swiss Army Store in Zürich (sort of the flagship store) and then they modified it for me by engraving it and placing transparent/clear scales on it so it looks like it is silver / sandblasted aluminum color and modern, instead of the traditional red.

Oh nice. I kind of want one.

I'm not a fan of the knife steel that they use on those knives, but, I sure can get them sharp and it's not hard to do. Which means, even though the nerd side of me wants some crazy steel, I appreciate it for what it is.

That said, I have a Swiss army knife style knife that uses m390 steel that stays sharp really well. I need to use diamonds to sharpen it. And I think it's been discontinued

If you saw all of the electronics and tech gear my friend fixed with just his CyberTool, you would be blown away. Miraculously, the screwdriver bits seemed to magically fit whatever it was he was assembling/disassembling, too.

He sadly passed away a few years ago and I had a special CyberTool made as a tribute to his memory.

The Swiss Army Knife steel is not the finest, but they are easy to keep sharp. Another friend of mine is a salty, gruff in an aged way, tool and die maker and he sharpens his SAKs to the point that they are extremely easy to shave with. He gifted one to me and the blade is impressively sharp.

I prefer traditional slip joints, specifically 2 bladed trappers from Great Eastern Cutlery or even Case or full blown customs. But I tend to misplace them. Have probably 100 in different flavors. i might be an addict with a small problem.

The last 7 months has been this no nsne chicom liner lock. Bro in laws coworker in aerospace supposedly designed it and bought a couple thousand to sell. For the $10 or $15 they were, I bought a handful. Have lost none of course. Supposedly D2 and I can get it shaving sharp. Handy knife.

Hey, I'm always impressed when I sharpen up my victorinox knives. I was reading an article about nice steels and what steel is actually used by what companies and the writer was talking about these Swiss army knives and they made some comment about the steel not being anything special, especially compared to all the fancy steels that everyone's using these days and the comment was that further uses. There's no real reason to change it and in fact the author was against changing the steel. Easy to system and takes a great edge.

I use one to separate postage stamps of all things and I have to be very careful because if I actually sharpen the knife well then it's too sharp for the task I tried to do.

The Swiss quality control, metallurgy, and materials testing standards are all top notch. Even my daily use Swiss Victorinox fruit knife and bread knife are still razor sharp after years with no sharpening by me.

I carried large pocket clip folders for years, with Spyderco being my preferred flavor. I used them and abused them and never found anything I liked more.

That chapter of my life is over, and I’ve found that I can get just about everything I need done with a traditional folder. My current daily carry rotation consists of a Case Sodbuster Jr, a Hen and Rooster two blade Congress, and an AG Russel single blade hunter in 154CM….all with yellow Delrin handles.

First version was steady for over 15 years and I sharpened the profile out of whack. Second one is only a year into service.
If a real issue comes up that the little one can't handle, my right pocket has a Benchmade Bugout.
