Help a Brother out? I want a Bench Grinder, also need a belt sander. Wissota is what I'd love to find in a combo, but have not had any luck.

I have bench grinders and a belt grinder. While there is definitely some overlap, there are things the bench grinder is better at, and there are things the belt grinder is better at.

As far as combo units go: I generally like the dedicated belt grinders more vs the combo units because they usually have the option to take the platten out and have a long travel spring-loaded idler pulley. That allows you to push a curved piece into the belt and the belt will follow the curve. Really great for cleaning up round items, or making square items, round.

My belt grinder is a 1x42 Delta-Rockwell 1/3HP. It's a super versatile machine.

I definitely see value in both. There’s a bit of a thinner gap between the two when you add in convolute wheels for the bench grinder. It would allow for convex edges on a bench grinder, I’ve yet to do it but on paper anyway.

I find the 1x42 belt grinders work quite well with even 1/2hp motors.

You could look for a Delta/Rockwell/Kalamazoo combo.

Old post, but can you share more details on the Kalamazoo belt grinder attachment? I’m looking for one, but it seems they may be discontinued? I want to add one to my Delta triple duty pedestal grinder.

I could be wrong but what I think you're seeing is a Kalamazoo belt grinder that someone has modified to be driven by a grinder. It's probably not that hard, but also probably not a simple add on kit.

I've been very happy with my Multi-tool attachment on my grinder, and they make bigger/wider ones if you have the HP to turn them.

Yes, sorry for the confusion. The Multitool attachment is a kit you can theoretically just bolt on to a grinder, but the offset of the shaft on the craftsman Block grinders specifically is too long, so I had to machine a spacer. The rest is also a custom job. And thanks for the compliment!

I have one of those "duplex" units, I use it mainly to sharpen edged tools or profile blades. For coarse or profile grinding, I have 2 dedicated wheel grinders, which I recommend' I also recommend having 2 belt sander/grinders with different grits on them so you can go from one machine to the next....
