The Wales section of the BBC website had an article about a pup recovering from an adder bite. Are those around the area where you takes the girls for walks? And by the way Arlo is sure lucky to have you for a neighbor.

The new bumper looks great. Quite the improvement!

Not sure how long it'll last as the over riders are made in Taiwan and the bumper is from Brazil i think. The rear bumper is a genuine Brazilian made one (with VW stamp in it) and has lasted over 30 years so fingers crossed this one lasts the same.

The old one was a second hand one i got given to replace this. I got nearly 6 years use out of it before the chrome came off.

Arlo is my in-laws dog and we live in the same house as them.
We've got adders round here. Seen a few the last few years but none this year so far. They're only really aggressive if stepped on or a dog gets in their face. They tend to make a quick escape when they feel your footsteps nearby. I never knew there were 3 different coloured ones.
This was quite a big one. A little over 2ft long.

Not that easy to see. No wonder dogs get bitten if they're sticking their nose in the undergrowth.

My new fridge arrived this afternoon. Just need to run a cable to the battery, though getting access behind the drawers under the bed/seat is being a pain as some of the screws in the wood under the cushions are just rusty blobs. I suppose i could try and take the drawers off their runners to remove them.

Blowing an absolute gale last night. Had stuff blowing all over the garden than needed tying down or moving into a more sheltered spot. It popped the door open on the toilet thats attached to the garage and swung it fully open bending the hinges and splitting the top of the door.
Looks like as the little window was open a crack the wind just blew in through it and blew the door out. It also lifted all the polystyrene ceiling tiles in there.

Hundreds of Painted Lady butterflies in the woods.

The big pond in the woods is also now just a stinking oily looking bog, as 90% of the water has gone.

Some areas of South Wales already have a hose pipe ban in effect as of the 19th as apparently drought conditions have been declared. We're just below the P on Pembrokeshire on this map so just miss out for now.


Took the dogs for a wander round Withybush woods in Haverfordwest before heading to Aldi for some shopping (and to see if there were any Hotwheels i needed from their display).

St. David's is about 20 miles west of us. 28c (82.4f) is still a bit warm but atleast it not Birmingham warm. It helps that the wind normally comes from the South West so it feels nicer being closer to the coast.

I've been trying to find the Beast of Turin but have been unsuccessful so far. i could just buy it off ebay but then i'd miss out on the fun of the chase.

I did find this Morgan 3 wheeler (the EV version) which is pretty cool.

Looks like we only get 0.9mm at most on Saturday night and it stops before 6am on Sunday.

The new fridge fits nicely in the spot the old one came out of. I moved the shelf its fitted on down 20mm so it would fit. Just needs the wiring finished now. I've got the wire run to just behind the B pillar but getting it through the curved corrugated conduit to the passengers seat is proving to be a bit difficult. I think i'll need to feed a wire through from the other end, tie this one to it and pull it back through.
Trim panel below the fridge needs reducing in height but its stapled together and i can't get the ****** apart.

Its running the cables that takes the longest time. Probably quick and simple on a bare shell with no cabinets or seats/bed in place.
I managed to get the panel on the top of the bed base removed after lots of swearing. No back to the drawer space on this one which makes access easier. I assume the filler should have a pipe fitted to that ****** above the fill hose, or is it just a breather?

The wire will head through this corrugated conduit with the other wires if i can only get it to push through. It seems to feed into the B pillar under the seat belt reel then does a 90 degree turn to come out the side. Hopefully if i remove the reel i can grab the end of the wire.

Theres already a 12v socket on the side of the passengers seat and a couple of USB and USB-C sockets on the bulkhead next to the bed. The manufacturer says compressor fridges don't like voltage drop on long cable runs so i'm running 6mm2 cable. Its only a 6m run so voltage drop should be under 1.5% (or 0.188v).

I removed the seat belt reel and managed to get my hand into the space in the bottom of the B pillar to redirect the wire back out the pillar and through the conduit to under the passengers seat. I gained a few more cuts to my hands and arms from that.
Its now run under the carpet, up the bulkhead and through a grommet into the engine compartment. Just needs connecting to the fuse holder then the battery.

Tables now back in their upright stowed position.


Had a walk along the breakwater at Goodwick with the dogs this afternoon when i went to get LPG. Temperature gauge said 19c but it felt a lot warmer. There were quite a few people sunbathing on the beach.

Nicely done. Running wire like that is annoying and inconvenient! Sounds like you have some slightly cooler temps? Your dogs look more comfortable, and ready for a swim, too.

I typically buy the tools I should have had, after a project is finished. You might consider some sort of long handled bent nose pliers, remote control "fingers" and/or a boro-scope.*






* I don't yet have a boro-scope, YET!

Those long claw things are so useful for picking up 10mm sockets that have fallen into inaccessible places down the side of engines. Mine seized up after sitting in a damp shed for years and i've not bought a replacement yet.
The fuel filler runs through the B pillar on that side so there was only a inch or so of space to Just enough to get your hand wedged in.

I'm surprised by how quickly the new compressor fridge cools.
It's been on 1/2 an hour and already down from 20c (68f) to 6c (42.8f) in the fridge and -7c (19.4f) in the freezer compartment and has started freezing the ice cubes. Or the water in the ice cube trays.

I had the option of the same fridge in black, but seeing as its in a fairly small space i thought it might make it a bit too dark.

New bumper and over riders now fitted and the number plate is back on it's mounting brackets.
I had to move the fog lamps further out as they were going to occupy the same space as the over riders.

I was working under the bonnet on the motorhome yesterday and felt a few drips, picked my tools out of the engine bay so i could close the bonnet and it had already stopped. About 5 drips in total.

Sky looks a bit ominous this morning though.

Its made in Brazil so not sure how long its chrome will last, though the Brazilian back one has been on 25 years (with at least 10 of those lying in the mud behind my dads shed) so hopefully it'll last the same.

It's nice seeing a bit of colour along the paths. Unfortunately it'll likely all get strimmed down soon. Whoever manages the woodland doesn't seem to like anything pretty growing. All the foxgloves were cut down a while ago for some reason and the buddleia all got chopped too. There were hundreds of butterflies and bees around but virtually non now.
