The first half of this week was brilliant! Now not so much... it's incredibly rainy here in North Vancouver. Too bad, I was hoping to do a door swap on my OBS Chevy dually this long weekend

I wish the roofers could have done the roof earlier this week but I think they were held up by getting the materials delivered and are hoping to avoid any hold ups the next time the sun comes out for a few days. My fingers are crossed that the forcast stays for rain and doesn't change to snow before they come to do the roof.
Well friends a few things have happened since I last posted.
The roof on the house was finished.
So that should be good for 20 years or so. I also had roof vents added to the garage attic (backside) in case we decide to insulate it in the future. Additionally, I had the front gutter replaced because I bumped it with my tractor causing a dent years ago when I first got my tractor and didn't realize the ROPS was taller than the lower roof. So that's all fixed now too.
Noticed a little intermittent water fountain in the yard the other day when I was looking out the window while washing dishes...Of course there wasn't suppose to be a fountain there.
Figured it was happening when the septic pump was activating.
Got a shovel and dug it up. About 4ft down I found that tree roots had wrapped around the septic line between the tank and the D-box and split it open. A trip to home depot and $30 later and I got the line repaired. Although this has made me think I really should have a mini-excavtor on hand for this type of thing. haha
Also did some work on the truck.
Changed the u-joints in the main driveshaft
I also changed the trans filter and drained plus refilled the trans fluid three times...with about 1 week between each 'service'. Should be about 90% new fluid in it now.
Stellantis says this is lifetime/no service needed fluid but the manufaturer of the trans (ZF) states fluid life is 70-80K miles. This is the second time I've refreshed the fluid since buying the truck. Hopefully with continued maintance the transmission will last the lifetime of the truck.
Having the car hoist sure does make it easy to stay ontop of all the maintance items on our vehicles!
Finally, i don't have much left on my list for the corvette but I did give it a wash and let it run for 30min so to keep it ready for summer driving.

New roof hurts but at the same time the piece of mind of it not being an issue for a long time is a good feeling. So neat to be able to build that bushing yourself.

Sounds like someone needs to head down to the John Deere store and get a backhoe attachment for his tractor lol.
so I told my wife this demonstrated the reason why we really should buy a excavator so that we would have it on hand for this kind of stuff.
She told me that the excavator is a great idea and as soon as I buy it the first project will be building her a dream backyard pool.
She definietly out maneuvered me that one.

D, Everything OK. Just checking in.
Ok friends so many things have happened since last time I'll do my best to submarize!
So lots of vehicle maintance on the car hoise and my corvette is back on the road for the summer.
So my basement suite tennants moved out and into a seniors place so they no longer need to drive. So we now have the whole house to ourselves. I got another 20ft seacan and the same fellow renting my other seacan is renting this one as well plus he's also taken over the garden shed my other tennants used to rent. he has a business that requires plenty of storage and its a great little ROI for me.
parking pad expanded a bit for the new seacan.
Fully insulated with spray foam just like the other one.
And if the rental ever ends i'll have no problem filling these things with my own stuff, haha.
So i've been working a bit on some wood working making closet orgainzers requested by my wife...yet to be finished but in progress.
This one will have 6 drawers...
Also tackled some lanscaping and made the ugliest part of my yard look good.
Oh and the stuff behind is in my neighbors yard...a fence might be added in the near future. haha
I was also working on rewiring, drywalling, added sofit vents and shelving in the attached garage but that's on pause for the moment while I work on the basement for a bit.
And on that note, when the basement was a suite I removed the door into the garage since it wasn't fire rated and just framed in a wall, anyway to make our lives easier now that were using the basement for ourselves. I decided to add a new fire rated metal door back into the basement laundry/mud room to give internal access to our attached garage.
I'm also doing a little reno on our basement laundry/mud room since alrhough functional.the plumbing was all wrong. So to fix things I removed some drywall and then redid all the plumbing and wiring to move the washer and dryer to the other side of the room, plus fixed some odd things in the room wiring. I also repaired and renforced the existing laundry cabinet as it was sagging before. I'm currently working on patching up the drywall now.
If you guys want I can share more about the laundry room/mud room once I get it finished.

I'm making pretty good progress on the laundry/mud room:
So the drywall, trim and paint are all done. I got the shelves mounted and finished the under shelve lighting. There's a few minor details but the only major task left is re-installing the washer and dryer, which are stored on the other side of the basement. I'm hoping to more or less tidy things off in the next several days. I'm very happy with how the trim and shiplap turned out on the wall with the window.
I should also mention, in case I forgot the washer and dryer moved from one end of the room to the other and went from a 'stacked' system to now being side by side.
Don't judge it to harshly as this was a lower budget reno with the primary goal being to fix plumbing and electrical issues, add a fire rated door for garage access and increase general useability. We choose to just reuse the old laundry cabinet that a fixed for now, but its free standing so if we ever choose to upgrade to a fancy looking one its a pretty simple task. Same goes with the washer and dryer they are less than 5 years old and work fine so, were just going to use them, plus we have a 2nd set in our upstairs laundry room.
I'll update you all when its done.

Ok friends I stayed up late last night and pretty well got the laundry room finished. In fact its 99% done. There's a few small insignificant things left but I'm going to call this project effectively done.

The washer and dryer are also on furniture sliders so moving them is a piece of cake.
Water shut-off's, drain line, 220v cord and dryer duct are all super easy to access, which will be handy if there's ever any issues. Plus the laundry cabinet is free-stand so it can be pulled out easily if needed too.
I added a couple USB/USC charger plugs in case device charging is required.

Well guys figured i'd update you all.
So on this episode of fun adventures at my house woke up this morning had a shower and then while cleaning up breakfast around 7:30am I noticed the water pressure was decreasing. Checked and the pressure tank said about 20 psi. checked the breaker wasn't tripped, made sure there was power to the pressure tank...test showed the pressure switch was closed...meaning power to the pump. Used the tractor and pulled the lid on the well, could see water in it so I knew it wasn't dry. I couldn't pull the pump up because some body in the past though having hard pipe coming into the well 4ft + down was a good idea, and then a hard pipe elbow going down another 4ft before a flex pipe was clamped on. lovely!
Figured this was a bit out of my wheelhouse so I called a well company at 8am. they sent some technicans out around 2pm and determined the bladder in the pressure tank had a leak and it wasn't functioning well and also that the well pump was not functioning properly.
In order to get the old pump out one guy had to be lowered down into the well with a 'crane' while the other passed tools and parts down to him. Any how 6 hours later and we finally had running water restored and my wallet is a lot lighter!

I had the workman install new fittings with a union up near the top of the well so that if this happens in the future it will be possible to just reach down and unscrew the union so the well pump and piping can be pulled up without someone having to be lowered into the well.
That's the union in the picture, during the install process.

Hope they ran some ventilation before going into the well. Confined space gas kills a lot people every year.
the guy that went down in the well had a oxygen tank/mask on.
Well friends, I've been enjoying my 88 this summer. I got it all shined up for a show last weekend but it was raining so I didn't end up going but at least the car is super clean.
On another note, my little storage side hustle seems to have grown. so I just expanded the gravel pad and had a third one brought in.
1 in of spray foam inside, same as the other containers.
The ROI was just a little too good to say no. But I think this is all the storage containers I want on the property now.
And if the guy renting them ever doesn't want them i'm sure i'll have no trouble hording some of my own stuff to fill them up with. haha
