Matching Filament Colour to Brands

For all of us with 3d printers, I'm wondering if anyone has ever come across a good source guide to matching filament colours/brands to our tools and other trademarked colours?

I'm personally looking for a good match to DeWalt yellow and Ridgid orange, but also Bosch and any number of other brands people use here would be cool to have matching filament brand/colours catalogued. If something like this doesn't exist (or even if it does) I'm wondering if we could centralize this information here and post some photos of prints next to their respective brand coloured objects, for myself and the rest of us who would like a go to colour match as closely as possible?

So what all have we printed in colour matches filaments???

A while back I came across the site filamentcolors.xyz while trying to find filament colors to match something existing. They provide Hex color codes for their vast library of filaments from a lot of manufacturers. All you then need is to find the color code of what you're trying to match. Check it out, it's a cool site!

I checked out that link, but it didn't quite give me what I'm looking for. I think the key is some photos of the printed parts next to their reference coloured items, in the same lighting. That way I (and others) can see first hand how closely each filament resembles the colour, in the same lighting.

I'm going to hopefully shock this thread back to life, as I've still yet to find the colours I'm looking for.

Since I'm not one to come back completely empty handed, I did reach out to Reddit, and recieved some information that I can share here, though unfortunately not for brands that I use:

Makita - 3DO did a collab with Makita on some filament (https://3do.eu/pla/961-3do-pla-20-tough-1kg-makita-blue.html?SubmitCurrency=1&id_currency=3); and

Ryobi - polymaker lime green ABS was offered as a close match to Ryobi, but no specific evidence was offered in terms of a side by side comparison, so YMMV.

Still looking for matches for:

DeWalt (which I've seen codes including FEBD17, and "Mikado Yellow" mentioned, but it looks more like their compressors and toolboxes than the actual power tools, to me)

Bosch: (005691 for their lighter blue line, 003b6a for "PRO Blue") right from the Bosch website. No filament match yet, but they also have the rest of the colours in their scheme listed as well (red, light and dark grey, white).

Rigid: ???

Let's see what we can find, folks!

Highly recommend proto-pasta and polymaker matte options. Proto-pasta/protopasta/proto pasta has a color matched makita called atikam (makita spelled backwords) as an example.

I am working on a portable benchtop psu that I originally printed in a generic orange. After using Polymaker's `PolyTerra Army Red` for some Milwaukee tools I wanted to try and find a better match for Ridgid.

I have gone through lots of different orange filaments looking for one that is close to Ridgid's color.

The closest that I have found so far, is `Burnt Orange` by FilaCube. I snapped a couple quick photos (maybe I'll post a better image later).

In the first image, the Benchy on the right is the `Burnt Orange'.

I'm sure there is a better matching filament out there so if anyone finds a better match for Ridgid, please let me know.

Just coming back for an update.. The 'burnt orange' matches closely to my "office drill" but my other Ridgid tools have more of a "red hue" than brown.

I am surprised to see there is a visually distinct difference between my Ridgid drills bought in the last 10 years.

There is at least 2 distinct colors. What makes it more odd, is that my first Ridgid drill kit - the driver and drill, are the two drills where I first noticed the color difference. They are the same age, both mostly kept indoors and out of the sun.

I am not going to go through the process of getting a dozen different orange filaments to compare against my newer Ridgid tools. I did compare the newer tools against the 4 orange colors I still have on hand and it looks like the 'FilaCube Pumpkin Orange' matches fairly close.

I am not really a fan of the FilaCube filament. It does seem like it is stronger than standard PLA but it is not as easy to print with as other brands.

I'll attach some photos of my drills side by side to show the slight color differences.

The images with the printed parts is of the 'Burnt Orange' on the left and the 'Pumpkin Orange' on the right.

Here you go. It's certainly not an exact Dewalt match but it's not terrible either. I've been using it around the shop as good enough for my own purposes. It's Polymaker PolyLite PETG Yellow. I tend to print most things in PETG for dimensional stability since PLA shrinks with summer garage heat.

This is fantastic! Will definitely be checking this out. I have to admit my 3d printing has taken a major backseat lately.
