Good deal, not that I haven't put a spot of oil under another mechanics work in the morning for a laugh.It looks like a victory! These white sheets of paper have been under the car for almost 24 hours without a single drop of oil falling on them.

Greetings to all friends! The tractor project is moving very slowly. I'm trying to work on it, but it's hard to make myself do anything, especially in light of recent events. The events are far from joyful — my family road trips seem to have come to an end. The reason is simple: there's no gasoline. To fill up the car, you have to stand in line for 6-7 hours, and there's no guarantee you'll even get gas. This weekend I spent 5 hours to get 30 liters of gasoline. I had to drive 20 km out of town and stand in a long queue. In the future, it's only going to get worse.

Vlad, I was reading today output is down about 30% and now i know it is affecting all. That has to be miserable and expensive to boot.

I can't buy a new camera because of the sanctions, I can't buy a new laptop because normal brands are banned and there are no domestic developments. And this applies to everything. It looks like the situation in the USA in the 70s. There are differences in the fact that at that time there was simply a reduction in oil supplies and a price increase. In our case, there is oil, there are no plants that can process it into gasoline and diesel. They are all either destroyed or severely damaged as a result of the war.

Unfortunately, this is not the first or last time that mankind has irrationally brought calamity upon itself. But as @bugnut said, keep yourself busy to distract your mind as much as possible, helping to restore some semblance of normalcy and sanity in the midst of all this insanity.
And while it might sound like a cliché to say that things will change and improve, history has proven over and over that nothing—good or bad—lasts forever. In situations like this, when life hits rock bottom, the only way left to go is back up.
Hang in there. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, your family, and your fellow innocent countrymen.
As I mentioned before, I have a toy — a 3D printer. It turns out to be a very useful thing in the garage. I've already printed a bunch of useful items: various boxes, stands, enclosures, etc. Some things I design myself using FreeCAD, others I download from the internet. Today I printed a bracket to hang an old laptop on a shelf. I don't use it often, and now it doesn't take up desk space and is always at hand. All these printed items help make better use of the garage space.
A couple of photos from around here. On one of the hot days, I took my family to a pond. We arrived in the morning, so there was no one around at all. Or maybe it's also because of the big fuel shortages — nobody came to the pond either. We swam, relaxed, and had a good time.

The 3D printer definitely opens up all sorts of possibilities, and you seem to be taking great advantage of it.

Actually, a pretty good idea. I know here in the US and in England people have converted their cars to run on propane. Would that be more readily available?

Yes, you can make the car run on a different type of fuel. We can also install equipment for using propane instead of gasoline. But
installing gas equipment on a gasoline engine is the same as urinating in your pants to keep warm first, warm and then... Different chemical composition and temperature conditions of combustion of gas and gasoline, and other delights. On the one hand, possible savings on gas, on the other hand, the engine serves much less and becomes disposable. I am not in favor of using propane on a gasoline engine. You can also make the engine run on a very exotic type of fuel - gasoline made of rubber and gas generator engines. Then you can ride on everything that burns. Or use a steam engine.

Well, glad you and the family got out for a bit, Pond in the heat we're having looks inviting. Did you cast a line? Catch anything? The 3d printer is a great shop addition. I have one and use it almost daily, even if for little holders and bins. Are you familiar with gridfinity yet, whole new set of organizers for everything imaginable.

Thanks! Unfortunately, this is a private pond and fishing is prohibited there. And the weather was very hot that day, it was unlikely that the fishing was successful. Yes, I know about gridfinity, but I haven't used it yet, I make my models in FreeCAD.
How to endure failure when trying to install brakes on the left front wheel of a tractor. As I mentioned earlier, my tractor has only brakes on the right front wheel. At the scrapyard, I found a brake disk that looked similar to the one I needed. It perfectly matched the mounting holes. I took it home, brought it to the garage, and on the lathe, I machined it because it was all dirty and rusty. I installed it on the tractor, and... it turned out not to be what I needed. The brake support bracket did not fit by about 5 cm. The brake disk should be mounted significantly deeper. I had to take everything off again. I'll be looking for the right disk, and this one will go back to the scrapyard. I even don't know from which model of this disk it is or if it's a VAZ. It might be from an old Volkswagen.
I am about to install the hydraulic control lever, and it will be installed where the instrument panel was originally located. Therefore, I moved the instrument panel to another place; hopefully, it will remain here. At the same time, I installed the fuse box and connected the coolant fan and instrument lighting.

This build is obviously a lot more complex and more comprehensive than your first tractor build. Part of this unique and one-of-a-kind journey inevitably involves R&D and some trial and error, particularly given the scarcity of suitable parts.
And despite all these challenges, you are overcoming obstacles one by one. As always, hats off to you, your skills, creativity, and tenacity and resilience.

@Vieux Glad you can get and use freecad. Web searching will bring you many results for a lot of freely available printable projects. Recently i printed a bolt pattern checker so I could match a wheel for a trailer to insure the one I was buying would fit. Much easier than hauling a hub around. Tractor is shaping up good luck on the brakes. Stay busy, be careful!
I also wanted to use the rear brakes at first, but the design of my wheels does not allow this. Maybe I'll come back to this later and make separate brakes for the left and right rear wheels.

A bit about recent events. On June 24, a powerful hurricane passed over our region. It was especially strong in the village where I have my house. The wind was so powerful that it broke trees, tore off roofs, and snapped power lines. My house held up overall, sustaining only minor damage — the chimney pipe was carried away, a few decorative panels were torn off, and an apple tree in the garden was broken. I hope to fix these consequences quickly. Especially since I have vacation planned starting August 3. The gasoline situation has more or less normalized, and I'm even taking the risk of driving to Pyatigorsk. To take a walk, see the mountains, drink some mineral water.
Another event I can't explain happened just a couple of days ago. There was a very heavy downpour with a thunderstorm, the sky completely overcast. I was waiting out the rain at home, planning to go to the garage. Through the window I saw a flash and instantly heard a strong explosion. The explosion was very close. I thought a drone or a missile had been shot down (the sound was exactly like that). Especially since they've been shooting them down regularly lately.
A couple of minutes after the explosion, I drove to the garage. When I turned onto the road leading to the garages, I saw a bright glowing ball in the sky — like a powerful point source of light. By the time I reached the garage, the light was already gone. I have a video from my car dashcam that shows this glow. It's definitely not the sun — because the sky was completely overcast and it was raining, and besides, the sun at that time would be much further to the left. I think it was ball lightning. And the strong explosion in the sky was also from ball lightning. But I'm not sure. After some "dancing with a tambourine" I managed to upload a short video to YouTube.

Vlad, that sent me out to the interwebs to see what you were showing as I have never heard of ball lightening. Very interesting and unusual. The hurricanes and severe storms are a problem, here occasionally as well. Sad about your damage, glad it was something you could repair. Hope you continue progress on the tractor. I do not recall the drive axle, but would a single brake on the drive axle suffice. I'm sure you have enough ideas to already solve the brake issues.

I have 1 drive axle - the rear one. The brakes are still on one front wheel, so that it would be possible to stop the tractor. In a good way, I need to make separate brakes on the rear drive axle. This will be an analogue of locking the bridge and increase the cross-country ability in case of getting stuck with one wheel. The peculiarities of my rear discs do not give me the opportunity to install the brake drum.

I am glad to hear that the damage caused by the storm was minimal. More importantly that as you said the gas situation has normalized by which I take it that you mean there is more supply and hopefully no lines to gas up.
