You can hold fewer bits but they are easier to sort and a random bit won't tumble out and roll away.

Had one of those days where multiple eBay packages arrived, and I incidentally found a Snap On truck in the wild. Overspent at SO on toys I don't need, but I have no regerts.
The adjustable is a FADH8C - which is an 8" flank drive. Both ratchets have surprises... the multi-position is a 3/8 drive, 1/4 body (FHC72MP ), and the tiny guy is a 1/4 hex drive (TM72). Slip Joints are the newer hose clamp pliers (HCP48BCF).

Then we got the wild Vessel JIS 2-way speed handle 11-piece (SLH2-1U), and the EZRed 1/4 Stick (4S12L).

Finally, a couple of vintage USA nut drivers to finish off my mismatch MUSA SAE nut driver kit. The Crescent Bridgeport appears to be NOS. I might try to attack that rust in the handle of the MAC, but I also might not.

Spent some money this week. Grabbed the fixed extensions off a Matco BOGO promo on the last flyer. They were on backorder for about two weeks. While picking those up, I grabbed the Matco wobbles on promo. I have two long 3/8” wobbles on extended backorder still.

I needed a new jack and was lucky enough to have a 25% coupon for HF. I wanted yellow but my HF seems to hate yellow and the cashier and the manager really, really did not want to order one so I grabbed purple. Now I just have to wait for the parking lot sale and I can grab some purple Jack stands. Also, this was the first time in a while where my local HF actually had stuff in stock. It felt nice seeing things on the shelf.

This tool has been posted here before but it seems to be an excellent tool for the price. It's as cheap or cheaper than all the Chinese Xyfoo or Zxfi brands on the jungle but has replaceable batteries.

Hopefully Walmart keeps the batteries around as it's their store brand. I would consider trying another 12v tool from them at the price points they sell for.

Used it twice already at home and will take this to work to blow out the bottom of control panels. It's a lot smaller to carry in than a cordless shop vac.

Metabo SSEP 18 LT BL cordless reciprocating saw
Finally went for this, and entered another battery platform. This has switchable orbital action yet still only weighs 3kg (6.5lb) bare. It fits well in the hand with the angled grip and narrow front, and the battery is tucked away compactly underneath. There is also an "LTX MVT" variant which is more powerful, has a vibration damping system, and a speed selector dial - but is also 1kg (2lb) heavier. As far as I know, this original brand will continue here in Europe. Made in China.


Metabo basic set 2x LiHD 5.5 Ah batteries & ASC 145 quick charger
These are Milwaukee Forge equivalent in power output, but surprisingly affordable. The CAS battery alliance has about 50 other brands, which are almost all for some quite specialist tools. The charger is air cooled. Batteries made in Hungary, charger in Vietnam.

They're especially good for an included box - stackable, interlockable, two handles for carrying vertically or horizontally, and not too bulky for the internal capacity. Quite a few sizes are available so you always get one appropriate for the tool. The plastic insert is designed for the bulkier LTX MVT variant of the saw, so doesn't quite fit this right.

For deeper or confined spaces where the drill is obstructed. Not many options at this length or longer without going to SDS-max.

At that price point buy it to get you the second battery your looking for. The tool is less than twice the price of the battery by itself.

I guess they revised it with 4 heads now? And type C charging, plus an upgraded motor. Cannot find a single review of the revised version on YT.

I have the last-gen, and it's done everything I want it to. However, I wish I'd just waited around a year, as the new one is brushless, and has the off-set head the Milwaukee and Bosch ones do.

I have the impact, reciprocating saw, installation driver, inflator, and a drill (which I still have in the package--my Bosch does just fine for that); and for light duty, they're all great; even though all are the older brushed tools. Their place is for light duty jobs I don't want to drag 20V tools and batteries around (DeWalt or Craftsman V20). I'm getting the blower, oscillating tool, and die grinder tomorrow. Probably 3/8 impact as well.

Those pro tough boxes are sweet but the price is steep!

This is what happens when you’ve been thinking about getting another workbench to cover with **** along with the other 3 benches you have so you still can’t use it as a workbench. You do an online purchase as none are available in store and then change your mind and cancel it. You look at it again 2 hours later and it’s magically $150 cheaper than the price of the order you cancelled.

Home Depot is the instigator in this situation.




Now I have to try and get this up on its wheels and get it out of the trailer with a 6 week old hip and help from my girlfriend. I suspect no good will come from this endever.

Edit: It's assembled and out and I'm icing my hip. This was in part thanks to to DeWalt construction jack. One of those tools you never knew you needed until you have one. I've used it several times in the couple months I've had it.


I know this isn't a super high end box but if I ever move to industrial maintenance towards retirement this will probably come to the plant with me. This box actually had a 3/16" thick channel iron frame structure in the base and 6" casters. It's made to be moved around a plant compared to my other boxes.


It also has long item storage under the top. It will fit a 48" pry bar under there with a little room to spare.
