New garage opener and outdoor keypad

After 32 years my garage door has gone to that great opener heaven in the sky.

I now have a new one and the keypad option shown in the pic for outdoor use. The geniuses in the design lab decide not to put a cover on it. Meaning rain and sun, etc. will be doing a number on it. I am told these fail quite often do to these conditions by garage door professionals. planned obsolescence they say.

I want to buy a small enclosure box. They are cheap enough. Then mount the keypad inside. My idea is to drive the screws through the keypad back-plate and then through the plastic box and finally into the wood. I have one small issue and that is I cannot figure out how the back-plate comes off. There are no screws which would seem to indicate it is snapped or glues on. I messed with it for 30 minutes or so trying to gingerly get it off.

I figure checking here would be a good idea to see if anyone has done this.

Just buy double sided sticky tape, the type with a minimal foam layer in the middle, that stuff sticks like crazy.

That's what I would do. Screw the box to the wall, fasten the controller inside with tape. Or you could use Velcro tape so the controller is removable.

Pull the battery cover. Behind the bat is a screw, remove it. Then slide up.

Bring it with you and see if one of these in-use covers fit it:

Thanks but that does not say how to get the back off the opener which, I need to do in this case.

That's what I would do. Screw the box to the wall, fasten the controller inside with tape. Or you could use Velcro tape so the controller is removable.

Thanks looking at stuff like this but would like to screw the opener through it and then to the wall. Still trying to figure it out. Tape or velcro seems to be the easiest at this point.

That's exactly what you would do. Also screw the in-use cover to the wall with 2 screws.
