thanks.
OH!
Can you give me a name of one of these "supply houses"?
That's got to be a Wilde-made private-label, right?
For their specialized plumbing pliers, Wal-Rich Corporation designs and manufactures the items directly as their own brand, with production designated as Made in USA. These are easily identified by their signature high-visibility yellow handles and zinc dichromate finishes:

Wow! The supply house you mentioned here is 5x the reasonable price when buying directly from Wal-Rich. And it looked like a quantity of one for both sources. This pricing may be to reduce dealing with retail purchasers... or it may be the government price. For their specialized plumbing pliers, Wal-Rich Corporation designs and manufactures the items directly as their own brand, with production designated as Made in USA. I also noticed that there is a smooth, toothless variant you may need to add to your collection if you haven't already. It's also 10" like the other.

What’s the draw to Wilde pliers? That has to be for case quantity or something. I know Zoro sells some Wilde stamped pliers with minimum orders of 5.
What’s the draw to Wilde pliers?
As I mentioned earlier I saw them as the Douglas brand as an apprentice like 30 years ago. The mechanical foreman on a job had a set. He didn’t use tools much running large jobs but they didn’t seem great to me at the time compared to channelocks.
I never knew they were Wilde at the time, just that they were sold at plumbing supply houses.

I have a set of those that are like 35 years old but swear they are branded Lisle. Not a tool I use often. Bought them at Sears when I was in high school.Their lock ring pliers, typically used for rebuilding a manual transmission are fantastic. Otherwise I have no other pliers by Wilde.

We will have to disagree on that.Other than producing a product which is superior to that of their largest competitor?
Lemme think on that one a bit....![]()

Which company is the OEM?
Curious what your complaint with the punches are.. I just got a set of six pin punches and I thought they were pretty nice, admittedly I haven't used them yet. I just liked how they felt in my hand...Wilde. They make them for lots of manufacturers, including Proto. I am not a huge Wilde fan, but these pliers are legit. I am not impressed by Wilde's punches (not good) or their pry bars (merely ok)
If they’re anything like the ones I had, they are just softer and bend easier than more premium offerings. The good news is they’re easy to bend back LOLCurious what your complaint with the punches are.. Back in the late seventies, electronic guitar tuners had just hit the market. One of the guys who worked in the same bike shop as I was a guitarist and brought his in to show off. We immediately figured out it made a great spoke tensiometer and he had difficulty getting it back.Bike Spoke Tension Meter.

I've never built a wheel up from scratch. Replaced plenty of random broken spokes over the years and trued up the wheels. I broke a spoke last week, fixed it and rode it for while. Still true. This tool was only $17, just to play with it was worth it I guess. The Park Tool (which this one copied) is over a $100. I don't know how absolute accuracy is with this "cheap" one, but it can give a number to the tension. I did a pretty good job just going by feel squeezing parallel spokes. So that's why I said I didn't really need this, especially if I'm not building up wheels.Back in the late seventies, electronic guitar tuners had just hit the market. We were trained to check spoke tension by ear back then.
Neighbor called me up the other day hey as you know I’m not a diesel mechanic anymore and I’m not really able to work on much other than light stuff and just left my job as a mower mechanic so why don’t you come over this weekend and look at my tools and see what you want. He was available today. He got me for $500 so far who knows what else I’ll end up with haha. Finally got me one of them Snap-on zap guns as I call it and my driver calls it the one with the toggle like trigger. In my opinion the only good power tool that Snap-on makes lol. Lots of bigger stuff to work on dad’s truck with and lots of Craftsman USA which is a brand I collect. I feel like $500 is fair considering the two things in the blow molded cases cost about $800 a piece or so these days plus the complete sets of Snap-on impact sockets too. Couple broke Craftsman and Snap-on and Icon things which I’ll have warrantied out. Never once in my life have I seen a broken 20mm socket until today lol. 20 must of been for something special on big rigs or something. Most of this will come in handy when fixing dads truck and most of it I got just because it was cool haha.

On a new model this year apparently there has been complaints of belt noise, part of the procedure is to download a Gates drive belt app on your phone.Back in the late seventies, electronic guitar tuners had just hit the market.
