Craftsman Robo Grip Pliers - The Ideal Junk Drawer Tool

The robo-grips aren't bad, and I actually still have a couple pair in my toolbox. As one user mentioned, they do splay open and tend to rub the next drawer up when closing the drawer that they're in. The auto-locking pliers, however, are horrible. The pair that I had were incredibly difficult to adjust. You spent more time trying to make them work than actually completing the task at hand. I threw them away years ago. They weren't even good enough to pass along to some unsuspecting soul at a yard sale.

I have one Craftsman and one MAC. I hate them both. I say I have them, because they must be around here somewhere. Haven't seen either one in years.

Wow, when i came across a pair of Robogrips while swapping tool boxes I had thot I must have been foolishly alone in trying them back when ... I can't remember either buying them or using them much. I don't know what to do with them other than let the kids sell them while cleaning out the house...

I use them for chrome plumbing fixtures. Out of habit I suppose. They work fine for that, with their soft grip jaws. Never really figured out what’s not to like about them. The self adjusting size feature works pretty well.

I use mine occassionally as my instant lazy go to tool to loosen the garden hoses from the faucet

Mine are on the shelf behind one of my grandfathers circa 1940 toolboxes, still in the folding plastic case.

My mother was a sucker for Bob Villa’s sales pitch.

I still have the Craftsman brace and bit set she got me for Christmas when I asked for a drill. I guess she didn’t know I meant a power drill.
I did get the power drill the next Christmas, though.

I use mine more often than my knipex, but less often than my channelocks.

Many years ago somebody posted that they're terrible until you learn the trick. Once you catch on, they're great.

Not a fan of gimmick tools myself but these are useful and I admit to having one. The same principle applied to a better built(material)tool would be a winner.

I use them with the soft jaws occasionally. The few times I have used them they have been pretty handy.

There are much better tools for installing or breaking loose nuts and bolts, so I don't frustrate myself trying to use them for those tasks.

I have a pair of RoboGrips somewhere, maybe; I can't say that I've seen them anytime in the last 25 years though. Earlier last week I opened up my jobsite gang box for the first time in at least five years and found two sets of Knipex Cobra style pliers that work on the same principal. I had forgotten all about those.
