Own the light, own the night. Many times I will have a $1200+ pistol on me so spending $80-100 on a light is not a big deal. It's just another tool to me, high-quality tools are better than low-quality tools.
This light does not fit in the "high quality" arena. Nowhere near, relatively speaking.

I’ve spent every amount for. $5 to $500 for flashlights. My requirements are simple to list, yet hard to find.

123a or AA Batteries
Single mode On/Off
Tailcap switch with lockout
Tough enough to survive.

After 20+!years of chasing lights, i found that if it doesn’t say Surefire, Cloud, Modlite, and to a lesser extent Streamlight, it’s just not worth messing with for me.

There exists a whole world that geeks out to flashlights, and dig all the modes and various phases of retina burning power. They spend their nights arguing Candela vs Lumen, and can tell you their favorite color temp. Good for them…I just need a light to work.

Elzetta. Checks all your boxes. How'd you miss them?

They even have their own GJ like forum. https://www.candlepowerforums.com/

Candlepowerforum, or CPF for the regulars, used to be a great forum. Through a couple different owner/moderators things have really gone downhill in the last few years and it sees a fraction of the traffic it used to. Many people have moved on to FB groups instead as interests are very specific.

@Silver Lexus Garage Journal is a pretty tough crowd for this kind of thing lol. Won't hurt posting it here for a few sales for your buddy, but maybe try EDC forums as they'll be more open to "new" ideas or non-tool truck brands

Harbor Freight LED penlight is my everyday flashlight. $9 I think.

You will learn that there are a great many flashlight nerds. It's interesting to say the least.

No clue why you would quote me with that statement as I have no idea if the light the OP posted about is quality or not. I only own lights that are fully vetted out and trusted.

Having to cycle through modes like that and the price kill it in a bad way for me. Guess I'm not into elite flash lights.

My favorite flashlights generally have a maximum of 2 modes... high and low. In fact, I refuse to buy a light that has a strobe mode. Nobody needs that ****. There are tons of special use cases, but as far as I'm concerned, anything other than high/low is mostly a gimmick for most people.

I lived through the strobe age, even went through a few high level training courses…. Everything had strobe.

It was dumb then, too.

same here. I can't stand flashlights that have lots of modes you have to cycle through, or anything that strobes. I want on and off, and at a maximum, high and low on one switch, and that's it. If it has a red light, I want it to be a separate switch.

My hot take as someone who has a pen light in my shirt pocket at least 10 hours a day is this.

I do not want a light with over 1000 lumens. After a certain point adding lumens is just marketing BS and detracts from usefulness. More heat and shorter battery life. Sadly, with a flashlight, lumens is pretty much the only selling point though.

My daily driver streamlights and HF units are supposedly 450 and that is more than enough. If I have to hold a light at a funny angle so it won't blind me while trying to read a tag it is too bright.

And yeah, having to cycle through a strobe mode? That is inexcusable. What is it 2006 all over again?
