Bosch Wet/Dry Vac - battery lid won'tclose

The problem is that the battery door will not shut properly or latch with the 8 Ah battery installed. Even using maximum pressure to close the cover the latch won't seat.
I bought the combo because I saw the post recently her on GF about Lowes special where one could buy a Bosch 8 Ah battery and charger and select a FREE tool.
We selected the GAS18V-3 Wet/Dry Vacuum.
Anyone out there have a solution for this dilemma? I am thinking I might end up removing a bit of plastic from the battery compartment cover.

I’d recommend to keep trying without altering the cover. The 8Ah batteries should fit just fine - and the lid go on.

Bosch - in all their wisdom - killed off the best resource on information like this by deleting their forums with years and years worth of valuable input from users, many, many of them “early adaptors“ so problems were communicated early, fast and solutions found/ readily available.

As far as I remember the only battery that won’t fit with the lid on is the 12Ah.

What I‘m not sure about, and I can’t look it up anymore, if there ever was a change on the lid, as the vacuum model itself has been around for a long time …

But basically, before taking a knife/tool to the lid, keep trying - the 8Ah battery should fit.

Hope this helps at least a little.

Kind regards,
Olli

I can't offer a solution. But I believe the 8ah battery is recommended and *supposed* to fit.

I called Bosch support and talked with a live person! And I could understand his English quite well!!
I was told that the 4 Ah battery is recommended.
As far as modifying the cover - I also considered heating the plastic enough to deform it to where the cover latches.
And the machine operates with the lid open, so there are some other sub-optimal possibilities there.

I initially "Liked" your post. Then I changed it to anger when I realized I purposely bought the 8ah battery that's getting delivered today for my vacuum, and it doesn't really fit properly. I know, "First world problems"!

I have the same vac I bought about 5 years ago and the Core 8ah battery fits fine with no issue closing the battery door.

That is interesting to know. so thank you.
How about the charger for your battery? Is it a non-Expert charger?
