IMG_8951.jpegTime to replace the passenger fender lol, also the 512 stroker kit has been ordered and I'm on the machine shops schedule, needless to say this endeavor isn't going to be cheap, good thing the wife already gave approval though she might be mad I got it while she was sleeping.
Wives may not want you to get it while they are sleeping.

I’m making a wall mounted coat rack for the house at the Grand Canyon that my volunteer program has the use of.
I‘ll show the rack later but just wanted to show the radius card scraper that made cleaning up the burn marks on the round overs a breeze compared to using sand paper.

I know, I either need to replace my round over bit or get it sharpened but……..

1974 cast block, 2026 cast bellhousing. Tolerance is pretty good, considering. I suspect that the bellhousing is correct and well machined, that the offset is in the block. The bellhousing locates the transmission, and the pilot bearing has lower tolerance than the old bushings this setup was designed for.

The offset pins supposedly include either a slot or an Allen head recess to allow them to be clocked.

They are visible from the outside of the bellhousing, so could probably be turned without having to dismount and remount the bellhousing each time. Maybe. It’s a tight fit.
i had to use these

Working on the Free 228 Coleman lantern I picked up off a curb a few weeks back. It needed a cap gasket and the pump leather oil soaked. I decided to make a tool for the cap gasket groove from one of several street sweeper bristles I've picked up on my walks.

Ground it too the exact width on both ends. I'll probably give it a final pass on the tip edge on a honing stone. The red is just electrician's tape so I can spot it easier. Shrink tube would be better, but all I have that size is dark gray...

Window fan is as done as it's going to be--until I change it again.

The variable speed might be of some use come the "corner seasons".
Update on the DIY window fan.

It's the beginning of fall here--yes, mid-August is fall--and nighttime temps outside are dropping into the high thirties/low forties on clear nights, while still getting into the eighties to high nineties in the day. I'm running those fans between half and one-quarter speed overnight and it cools the cabin down to the low sixties--or high fifties if I'm not careful. Perfect for sleeping with a couple of blankets.

The 8" (200mm) Thermaltake fans are impressive. They move a LOT of air while being very quiet. The combo PS and speed control made using these 12V fans almost too easy--it plugs directly into the fans.

Last few days:

Replaced control board in Airstream water heater with a clone board from Amazon. Worked fine; connector on original wiring hardness needed cleaning. Poor design of Attwood heaters subjects heater to ambient dust/rust; of course, trailer has been to the playa 14 times.

Removed original ventilation hatch cover as it was plastic and coming apart (rest are metal). Made a temporary wooden replacement so we can keep dust out of trailer at Burning Man.

I checked the Airstream trailer bearings for noise and replaced the Airstream OEM shocks I installed in 2010 w/ Monroe Magnums I got on sale some time back. I knew the bearings would still be good since I had 4 sets available here...

Helped the retired school teacher (SWMBO) go through her stuff she had to bring home so she could give it to her teacher nephew. A lot of it is stuff she wants to sell because 1) she thinks it has value, and 2) she was pissed off at most of her teacher associates and would not give away anything to them before retiring. She gave away a few things to one teacher that she liked and had mutual respect for, but the others got nothing. I told her to leave everything, but she couldn't do it. Now her s**t will occupy the garage until the fall yard sale......o_O

No, he's a self employed Handi-Man. Everything we gave him works and is in excellent shape. Sure he'l keep what he needs, sell or give away some of it and of course scrap some stuff. He even wants whatever house and spray paints I'm not using. Win, win here.
Nice, I didn’t mean to say he was going to scrap your stuff, just he was lucky to get it all.
Crated and then let slip the dogs of war.
A scary sight that must be, if you’re a squirrel.lol

Well, I stood just outside of my shop feeling, watching, and THANKING for the first rain we’ve had in about 2 months.

I sure hope the folks working on/in the fires around the area can make some headway…..

We're getting our first rain in a couple of months, too. Must've had a couple inches in the last three days. Unfortunately, it comes with lightning... which will win, lightning strikes or rain?

It's monsoon season here in the Inland NW.
