Yeah, the wild angle to get everything in the shot definitely through off the scale. That bay, including the stairs, is only 25ft wide. The shot makes the bay looks almost twice as wide as the 22ft tall ceilings.
Its funny because as I have watched your build go, there have been pics where I am like man my shop is tiny compared to this besst of a shop. And then the pic from outside makes it look like a big 2 car lol

Each bay is not that much larger than standard. The first floor has 24x27 for one, 22x25 for the other, and the corner shop is also 22x25 but has a bathroom and closet/stairs cut out of that too. I wish there was a better way to try and capture spaces with a camera and not distort so much.

Very nicely done! You must be happy this part of the journey is just about over! Now, to get on with projects. . . . . . .
Definitely excited to be nearing the finish line of all the pieces of the building and get onto the project list. I think I have over a year of car work backlog between maitenance and upgrades I have been stock piling. I also have 3 largish wood working projects on the list and a couple smaller ones as well. Those will have to wait as bulding out the shop area cabinets will be a project in itself. After watching @lilscorpion build I am convinced that is the best route to go even if mine won't be automated like his.

Thanks. My CHI doors had an option upcharge for black or white hardware so I picked that for all my doors so it came done from the factory ahead of time. The only thing I have to do myself was get pieces of angle iron for the install powder coated ahead of time.
Excellent - I went to their website to look for parts but didn't see any options. Wonder if they would sell me some without a door?

I would imagine so. I will say this though, I am considering replacing my hinges with these. https://greenhingesystem.com/?gad_s...zvuXPHL15DN6-udei0w_xvr7ntyKNzlhoCTFIQAvD_BwE

I am having trouble getting perfect seal on the garage doors. There is always a little light showing on the ends. I think this is an issue with the material the outer weather stripping seals are made of and they just don't put enough tension on the door and also deform in the heat some. I think these spring loaded hinges would hopefully help out. I imagine weather sealing out there in the winter might be more important for you than me overal all though. I do think it is part of my humidity issue and why I always need the dehumidifier.

Yeah for sure - I was looking at these and so was @badonk he was having adjustment and fitment issues - my issue with them is why green? I get the earth stuff and saving energy...but do we have to go green on the hinges?

I have not gotten up close and personal with my doors but my guess is I will have the same issue with wind gusts of 60-70mph at times. Plus - the loft in the garage is my office so rattling doors and light peaking through with below zero temps is not "winning" while trying to hold meetings for work.

I think there is a market for a garage door that is a "real seal deal"...seems like it should ride in a rail that has weatherstripping front and back with multiple layers and is adjustable and air tight front and back.

That space is looking fantastic. Crazy to think i was just dirt and imagination a couple of years ago. Its fun for all of us to see your work come to fruition.

Im also looking at the green hinges for my house garage. A few years ago my wife was a little distracted when she got out of her car and forgot to put it in park and it rolled into the door. It was very little damage and none to the car that I couldnt buff out. But it did bend the door track a little and messed up a couple of the hinges. I have some gaps at that door and have been thinking these hinges may help to tighten it up a little. Im interested in seeing how they work for you.

Regarding the green hinges, I installed them on one of my doors. While it was an improvement, it's not the end all be all that they claim. High wind gusts will push the door open slightly. But think about it, that's a lot of surface area that's being pushed. The best you can do, IMHO and is what I did, is to adjust the door so it's as tight to the door frame as can be then install the weather stripping/seal against the door.

YMMV

Cause most folks who are buying the green hinges grew up in the 90's where Hunter green and maroon was the color of choice for Moms in the US. It brings a nostalgic touch to the garage with the hunter green!

I'll let myself out now.

Not as bad as the green hinges but they have ones for replacing double hinges. My 9ft doors have double hinges on the end so I would be able to use these instead of the green. https://greenhingesystem.com/products/dbl-1

I am not sure if they are better or worse, since they would stand out more.

I think a sealed door would be awesome. Those newly designed doors that are all over instagram that collapse into a box up top, I think seal up much better, but I think they are incredibly expensive to do.

I have just caught up on this epic build thread. What a fantastic realisation of vision tied to detailed implementation. It takes some determination to stick to the plan when there are so many things that can throw you off course and where if you compromised you could save time and/or money. Following for future updates.

Thank you for taking the time to read through the build. It was definitely tough at times to keep on track with some many delays at various points. With it being mostly done now it is rewarding to finally be able to put it all to use now that the vision is complete.

A few things happened recently. One major one that wasn't planned to happen so quickly.

Harbor Freight had another parking lot sale, so I checked a few more items off the list of remaining pickups to complete the garage tool setup. I also didn't have any dedicated glass specific towels, and these are on super sale till the end of August, so I decided to give them a try.

IMG_20260817_082112.jpg

The major unplanned item was that I had a couple of dead pines in my backwood fenced-in area. I love to take trees down and spend a day running a chainsaw. I also know my limits as well and won't push them. I had 6 total dead pines, 2 I could potentially remove, but the rest were above my level. I called my tree guy, which my dad first started using 20 years ago and we have continued to use with good results, to come out and let me know how much it would be and when he could fit me in. Turns out he had a cancellation for Thursday and Friday and they started the next day. These two large ones they had to climb as I try to do as little damage to the rest of the healthy trees.

Some before and after shots.

While they were working on that, I broke out the cutoff wheel to cut the steel fence pieces. This thing continues to impress.
IMG_20260817_082134.jpg

Make shift paint area to touch up the ends since these pieces are steel.

Installed.

This past weekend I spent most of my time cleaning the shop and working a little on it. Did also get one piece of new work done on the garage as well.

I am slowly sorting through boxes of leftover parts and things acquired during the garage build that have built up in the shop area. I tossed a bunch of stuff, consolidated stuff into boxes with similar stuff, and found permanent homes for maybe 1/4 of it. I wish the last part was higher up, but it will unfortunately be a multi-step process.

There is currently an old 4 drawer lateral metal file cabinet in the house garage that has electrical stuff in the top drawer and various car parts in the lower compartments. The plan is to convert that to all electrical and plumbing spare parts and maybe other household spare parts. Not at that point yet to start on the house garage so at least getting things into like box in one go around let me throw away a lot of partially full boxes.

I had meant to take an earlier picture to get a before and after but I was already like 2hrs in when I took this. I had to do it but I think the two sheets of drywall are just going to be scrapped. I hate to throw away good materials, but I don't know what else to do with it. Might save a 2x4 piece for repairs, but that is it. For the moment, it just got relocated in front of the windows.
IMG_20260817_082715.jpg

This thing continues to be extremely helpful. Took my ladder up to the storage room so I could access the upper attic and I put some extra gutter downspout, 2 spare double uprights for my shelves, and some extra roof cap vent up there out of the way. I have a bag of shingles I want to get up there but that is rather heavy so I might change my mind on that idea.
IMG_20260817_082657.jpg

New layout for the time being. Gives me a test of the chop saw on this wall vs between the windows where it was before. Still trying to finalize the final layout for the shop before I start building base cabinets.
IMG_20260817_082758.jpg

In the short term, I felt I needed some more storage so I added a shelf to the temporary work table.
IMG_20260817_082818.jpg

I got a little work done then and got the wood cut for the fence and gate in the breezeway.
IMG_20260817_082838.jpg

Quick test fit before staining. Hopefully I will get that underway this weekend.
IMG_20260817_082850.jpg

A buddy of mine was doing some garage cleaning and knew I was setting up my wood show an asked me if I was interested in a woodworking vice. I didn't have one, so I was excited to get one. It will eventually make its way onto the final work table but I might clean it up a little already and put it on the temporary table. I also found it cool, while looking up the model of it that it was made in PA, which is where I am originally from.

Don’t open the 10mm pack until it’s needed or they will escape!

Oh and now I need to go get some glass towels to add to my washing supplies.

The 3/8 10mm will be spares but the 1/4in I bought specifically to put in the meme toolkit so that. I still find it funny that they sell a 10mm only package. The one by either Pittsburgh or Quinn is even funnier as I think it is like 8 different pieces.
