I bought a 10x20 building for my second property. I have insulated the walls, ceiling and put up wood panels inside. I do keep an AC unit running at 80 degrees when we are not there during the week. I was wanting to close off the vent in the gables at both ends. It is easier to finish the insulation and close with paneling on the ends if I close off one of the vents. When we are there, we have AC or heat running as needed. I will put a small attic type vent fan in the one gable.

Is there any benefit or necessity to leaving one or both open? Is there a benefit to closing one or both?

So no ceiling then; a "hot roof" setup where insulation and paneling is attached directly to the underside of the roof. Not ideal, but yes, you can close off the gable vents and just keep it conditioned.
