What did you do "IN" your garage today?

Working on getting the new high-mount turn/brake signals mounted.

I wanted to mount them upside-down, but the "stem" is open on the bottom. Only meant to be mounted upright. The wires in the stem need to be free to move a bit, so filling the stems with RTV is out.

Pop a hole on the back shell, and a tight grommet?

Cruised out to the shop today.
1. Oil and filter change
2. Air cleaner
3. Serpentine belt, tensioner, and pulley.
4. Battery 12.5v, running w/AC on 14.2v.
I'd like to service the transmission but not working on my back today. It's only 105°.

I’m positive I would immediately smack those while removing something from the rack. Gotta be mounted lower like you mentioned.

Got one of the tires mounted last night and still avoided battle damage to my lower back, but doing it was a PITA and I needed more hands (and light: it got dark on me) setting the bead, so waiting on the rest for my son to be available.

Hit a prob on the planned spare this AM, its too big for the spare rack under the back so I need one more tire (got a lead) for the spare smaller than what it's running.

Wrapped up the fishing closet. Racks in place with the spare rods/ reels sorted out. It's not perfect, I had to remove the reels from the three surf rods as the randomly lined up with the upper slot. Made it work. These are mostly saltwater rods, a few spare bass combos and mf GF's spinning combos. The LED "light bulb" is amazing in there. Added a new pull string and handle. It's done. I've had a new set of waterproof cordura custom fitted seat covers for my 2016 GMC duramax sitting on the bench for a few weeks now waiting for a weekend to free up to replace the 6 year old sun faded ones I installed when I first got the truck.

Finally got a free "weekend" of having Sunday off work and no major mid day plans..

Front seats were a pretty simple install... the back seats they made the lower straps a bit too long so they snapped together halfway up the back of the seat... I struggled for a few minutes to get them tightened up and then grabbed a 18mm socket, ratchet, ratcheting wrench and my trusty Milwaukee M12 Fuel right angle impact wrench and pulled the entire back seat and moved it forward about 10" which gave me all the access in the world to get everything nice and snug for that 'factory-like' fit...

Getting the seat out is a pretty simple process. Getting it back in is definitely a 2 person job to get everything to line up just right.

What should have been a quick and easy 30 minute install took me 2 hours all because the stupid straps were about 5" too long, but I got my wife engaged in a mechanical project, which is a win in my book!

Swapped out a power steering pump with a friend on his '67 Corvette. PITA, because replacement and reproduction parts rarely seem to fit as they should, and this one was no exception. But, it's done. Did the same job and more (pump, hoses, and control valve) on my '63 a coupla weeks ago, same sort of issues.

Came home and wrestled a bit more with the worse-than-******-fitting (see gripe mentioned above) outer front bumper bracket on mine. Chased threads on a bunch of buggered bolts and nuts. Called it quits for the day.

I have spent the last two days, on and off, fighting a stuck, 100 year old, Woodruff key, And I won, but only by brute force. Hacksaw and file, and, finally, emery cloth. As if it never existed, now.

But, this means I am going to have to find a #2 Woodruff cutter, which is not in common use any longer, at a somewhat decent price, and cut a new slot. Not hard, but not what I wanted to do.

4 wheel disc conversion on this pile. I would highly NOT recommend “The Right Stuff” kit. A friend bought this and asked me to help him install it. It doesn’t fit very well and the instructions **** especially since the instructions referenced photos is of a completely different style caliper ans spindle set up.
Spindles are also a couple of .001 over size and made getting the bearings on problematic

That is a bunch of dirty work. Appears as though you have it under control. I like the project

A bit more shed patching from the tree ordeal. If I ever do vinyl siding/ J channel ever again it will be to soon. The goal was not to be an eye sore from 20 foot, I feel like I accomplished that. Just the roof left( shingles) with a vent to extract some heat. I've already completed the rafters, studs and sheathing. It's over due to remove the tarp.

Buckhorn LO (derelict), and one of three firefighting vehicles that were taking a break up there after spending all night fighting the fires started by last night's thunderstorms. We owe those guys and gals!

Had to explain that I don't take selfies, I take Vannies.

We drove through one of the recent fires--Eggo fire--looked to me like a "good burn". Mostly grassland, which, around here, is fire-maintained. Black, but the soil wasn't sterilized. Someone lost this season's grazing, but it will be back better next year.

Total count of vehicles seen on the drive (140 miles, 30 on pavement) was five--including the firefighters at Buckhorn. Saw several hunting camps out in the woods--it's Fall bear season.

A good time was had.

Garage-adjacent: the reclaimed paving bricks I used as edging around the little planting area between the garage and the front stoop look nice but keep shifting around. So today I dug them up and set them in concrete:







I'll put some pea gravel in the little trench on the driveway side.

VW Polo continued. Got a light cluster from ebay, very good condition £20. A new pattern part bumper in primer insurance approved £85.
Paint shop supplied rattle can code LC9Z. This is a metal flake base then build up with lacquer. £28 with a tack cloth.
Paint went on ok considering. The gloss totally different, all orange peel and dull.
Tried a test piece got a very good base paint finish. Stuck the lacquer on same orange peel
I am not a painter, and it's only £28 worth. Car's 17 years old run's fine.
Apart from taking it apart again and letting a painter do it, any ideas on getting a finish?

After it dries for a few weeks, you lightly wet sand it, then buff it out, just like the factory.

Went to "car week" in Monterey and attended the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance last Sunday. First time I've attended, and it was the 75th anniversary of the event, so I had to get the obligatory poster, now framed and hung in the garage.

I started sorting them, threw out a lot, filled or at least added to a number of drill indexes (where did I get so many?) And I never did do much with the saw set accumulation, maybe another day.

Ah ok makes sense. Well whatever you do don’t pay full price, it’s insane and you can usually talk them down to something quite a bit more reasonable. Like I said I think I was paying 6 or 7 bucks a month before I cancelled it.

I've renewed twice at $5/month. Told them I only listen to two channels in my truck and it's not worth any more than that to me. Mention you already get Amazon Music at home and they roll over like a dog looking for a belly rub...
