Looks like an awesome trip. Those are some great scores, and an even better one to finish it off. I can't imagine playing that many rounds in that heat. This former northerner doesn't do well in that much heat. I have been struggling to play well in my 9 hole Monday league this year with the heat.

Mid South looks great so maybe we will have to add that to our next trip. I am a big fan of Legacy GC. We played there when they were in the middle of the renovation, and I thought it was really nice. I can't wait to play it now that they are done. For $36 I would definitely replay as well. I know a lot of people really like the new layout at Talamore, but I am one of the ones that misses the old design or, better yet, would have loved to see a combination of both. None the less is always in great shape and I think we played it every year we have gone except this last trip. We are going up to the Pittsburgh area and eastern Ohio for our golf trip next year, so adding a couple of those courses will have to wait a year. Does your group do one or two trips a year?
It was hot, but not unbearable. We started early, it was muggy but we eased into the heat. Im not a fan of being inside all day then trying to go out in the heat of the day to play. That is miserable. We stayed hydrated and kept towels wet. I grabbed a few of the hand towels from the lodging and used them as cooling towels. Then just brought them back each night to be laundered. I also have a fan to keep a constant breeze.

Mid South is a great course. You should definitely add it to the trip. Its not a difficult course, but its not easy either. Its one of those where the more you play it the better you play, or at least know where to hit the ball!

Legacy's updates are very well done. My only issue was one of the best holes there was 16 a par 5 with a little creek near the green. That hole is now a par 4 with a very different green complex. They took out the creek all together and filled the low area by expanding the pond. Also, 18 was a par 4, but now its a par 5. They lengthened the tee area and expanded the landing fairway. Hole 8 used to be an iron off the tee with a forced carry over a large waste area. Now you can just bomb it off of the tee with no consequence. They are adding a halfway house so you dont have to drive up to the clubhouse. There is a temporary one there now. It also looks like they are adding some 19th holes, little pitch and putts with greens and turf tees. Maybe they are just short game practice areas.

I do 3 trips, all with different groups. One group of guys that I went to college with and worked with out of school, which is my August trip (20 of us). Another of local guys that I play with on the weekends, usually in Feb/March(40+ guys). And another with a buddy who I met from that group who needed one spot filled and I have been invited back. That one moves around.

That makes a lot of sense. Definitely agree it feels better if you just start the day outside in the morning and stay there.

Wow, three trips, and those are some large groups. I want to get a second yearly trip set up so we can always do one in the Pinehurst area and then a second to hit up some places around the country we want to try. With us moving our primary trip next year, I might try to find a second group to still do the Pinehurst area with cause I hate the idea of not going over there to play every year.

Once my daughter is out of school, there is a group of us that wants to do a bucket list trip. We are throwing around Whistling Straits, Bandon, even Scotland or Ireland. But those will have to wait for either a lottery win, or when tuition is out of my budget.

Well, the heat is finally taking the win, and my grass is losing bad. My front yard is burning out. I have not been watering but with the rain we have had I figured it would be fine. Well, now Im just going to wait until after Labor Day to start my fall lawn care. I will aerate and seed this fall and it will come back.

Got out for another round. I try to play every Sunday, this week was the first since my golf trip. The scores werent as good, but we had a good time as usual. The courses have been in great shape lately.

I did spend a bit of time on my other lawn this weekend. With the rain Friday and Saturday morning, I had to wait until after I got home from the course to head out to the softball field. In the off season, the coaches are responsible for field up keep. Since the maintenance staff is focusing on the in season sports like Football and Soccer, they dont always have the time to see to our field. Not a problem. I spent a few hours and ran out of daylight. Also not a problem since I know how to turn on the lights.

I gave the infield a good nail dragging since weve been getting a few showers lately. Also, ignore the edge creep. We will be cutting that soon. The local youth teams will be using our softball complex for their fall season, so I had to get out there and weed eat the fence lines. I also sprayed 16 gallons of weed killer. I did all of the spectator areas and the entire fence line and hitting facility perimeter.

If you remember a few months ago I replaced the head unit in my Daughter's 4Runner from the stock 2016 to a new Hamilton Motor Company head unit. Well, I had to do a warranty claim for the new unit. The screen was intermittently going black. The functions would work, like she could hear the music when connected to Carplay, but the screen was black. We noticed that this happened most frequently when the car was hot. It would happen if the car sat outside in the heat and then when she started it up, the screen would not come on. Sometimes for a minute and sometime it would be 30 minutes. She could control the music via her phone and still receive calls, etc, just with a black screen. After a few back and forth emails, and some troubleshooting, Hamilton agreed to send out a replacement and a return label. I got it yesterday and after dinner tackled the replacement.

This is the old unit, I wanted to get a picture of what it looked like behind the dash.

And this is what it looks like. That was my only complaint. The harness was not necessarily a universal harness, but it included a multiyear harness. In other words, it had the proper adapters for the factory harness for multiple years and you had to find the right ones for your application and the rest were just pushed up into the dash.

IMG_3130.JPEG

For a high end head unit, I felt like this was too much **** to stuff in the dash.

Here is everything with the new unit. I included all of the same options and connections from the original installation.

IMG_3135.JPEG

Once i removed the old harness, i put it side by side with the new harness. The new harness was year specific instead of multi year, and includes way less connections that are not needed. This made for a way less confusing install. Not that it was confusing, you just had to spend time hunting and sorting for the correct connectors. This is the same harness and sub harness. The top is what came out and the bottom is what is going in.

IMG_3136.JPEG

I also had to swap over the ac vents and the emergency flasher switch.

IMG_3134.JPEG

As you can see the new harness was way cleaner, and I tried to zip tie a few things together to make it even cleaner and not rattle behind the dash.

IMG_3137.JPEG

I know it still looks messy, but to be able to hook it all up and get everything lined up you have to have some slack. This is still way better than it was. My hands are only so small.

I will say, there is some good to this harness. It is prewired for anything you can think of. If you want to add a subwoofer or amplifier or any new cameras or even additional screens, it is included in this kit. You just have to plug it in. It also has a 4G connection and wifi if you want to add a sim card from your wireless plan. It can function as an independent tablet and connect to your wireless plan. It also has independent GPS that once connected to the sim, would function separately from your phone via Carplay. I dont have that hooked up, but its in the kit and pre wired.

Done. Of course I didn't get any fully complete pics. Once I got it all back together we had to get everything set back up like it was.

I played 3 courses in Ireland with my dad about 10 years ago. Absolutely amazing trip. I would love to go back someday but would need to check Scotland or England off first before a repeat. Girlfriend loved Ireland though, so that wouldn't be a hard sell to go again.
