W. MFG. CO. N.Y. Buggy Wrench? ID

I found this "Buggy Wrench" at Restore with a group of old Ridgid pipe cutters. According to Claude, it is a Buggy Wrench. It is marked W. MFG. Co. N.Y. with a K inside a circle as a logo. Anyone agree/disagree as to it's purpose and might know who the company is? TIA. Here it is as found...measures 12" in length...

I would not expect buggies to have 5-sided pentagon shaped bolt heads or nuts.

The pentagon shape seems like something that would be used on items where you want to keep the public from rotating the stem/shaft/bolt/nut. Seems like this tamper resistant shape would be used on valves in reach of the public such as water or gas valves. I'd start searching valve wrenches.

I don't understand what the right side of your wrench would be used for. Could you show a side view and/or end view photo of it?

You mentioned it said: "W. MFG. Co. N.Y." . Could there be a letter before the "W"?

Maybe the Circle K could be from the forging company.

Now that you have posted photos of the front it is clear that Mr. X identified it. It is for fire water valves/hoses/hydrants. See the attached vintage fire wrenches, and the pentagon shaped plug on the hydrant.

Being unschooled in fire hoses, how does that end work on the hose?

I’ve always thought of those wrenches working on these types of hoses, and treated them the same way a parochial grade school handled you when you mis-behaved, by the ears.

oooo that's disappointing to hear... last time I looked at that site it was a gem!

only other way I've had any luck trying to ID stuff like that was go to different "wrenching news" auction pages and start picking through photos looking for a match.
